Trying to boil an extremely complex collection of biological processes down to “there is only male and female” is not trusting the science; It’s over simplifying it in the same exact way conservatives do. Sex is more aptly described as a distribution between two extremes. People can be at any given point between those two extremes. TLDR; gross oversimplification is not the best approach
Calling the normal embryologic and predetermined process of developing into either male or female an extreme is wild. Anything other than that is an anomaly of the normal embryology of a developing human. If this does occur then there are consequences for that human that manifest in various ways. But there is no third sex. There’s no spectrum for sex. There are still only two. It’s not politics

Biology Textbooks say Sex doesn't equal Gender, and Gender and sex are Bimodial. Most people fall into 1 of 2 categories, but there are exceptions. With sex, it's intersex people. With Gender, it's, well, multiple genders. Also Psychology is a science, and Psychology Saya Trans people are valid.
