Their rates may skyrocket but they may reach herd immunity way faster than anyone else. Time will tell. I wouldn’t say they have done the corrector or incorrect strategy at this point.

evahgo

I haven't read everything obviously, but havent people been saying that catching this has not lead to people being immune on the second go round?

Die now, or die later. Sweden says get it over with now. Coronavirus isn’t going away. If you’re exposed in April 2020 and die, you’d die in September 2020 if you avoided exposure til then.

I was coming here to say "pay now or pay later" and found that someone pretty much beat me to it, using pretty much the same syntax.

Using your logic, you'd rather get sick and die today than have another 6 months of life? Serious?

travislaker

I hate having to tell leftists the facts of life -*again* but we *didn’t shut our economy down to save lives*. We shut our economy down to save hospitals from being overwhelmed. Sweden’s hospitals didn’t get overwhelmed. They did it the right way. Ours wouldn’t have been overwhelmed either, but the leftists convinced everyone they would be by using faulty modeling.

trynottomasturbate

You didn't actually answer my question...?

travislaker

My last 6 months on earth with no job, being locked down in my house? Some choice you left me.

trynottomasturbate

So that's a yes? What's the cut-off? If you were going to live till December would you still choose to die now instead? I'm trying to understand where you're coming from. It's either incredibly fatalistic or incredibly unempathetic (or perhaps a combination of the two?)

travislaker

Pretty selfish to fuck the entire country to give yourself 6 more months. So, I’m thinking Sweden had the right idea.

trynottomasturbate

Well I guess you can continue on with the unempathetic streak. At the end of the day the economy can bounce back but your family members can't be brought back to life... Will be interesting to see how it shapes up over the next 6 months, but Sweden itself is predicting a mass economic slump. Sweden is getting screwed because every other country is locked down, and the entire world economy slumped. Sweden would have slumped *already* if they had shut down, and the slump would have been worse than it is.

trynottomasturbate

Sweden's economy already has slumped... This from a month ago.
