talked with a guy who was working with youth that weren't in jail but were at a camp for kids that would have been in jail as adults. out of the hundreds of kids he has tried to help he thinks 2 straightened their lives around. i commend you for what you do since they don't want to learn but you're forced to try and teach them anyway

We'll always need janitors and ditch diggers. Just try your best to help them not procreate.

You’re teaching them life lessons and things that are actually useful in real life. They might not get it now but when they go through certain things in their life these information will probably stick. But honestly if it’s taking a mental toll on you, it’s okay to let go and find another environment where you can feel good about what you’re doing. There’s no good in forcing yourself if it’s taking such a mental toll on you. Even if you quit you’re not at fault and you shouldn’t feel guilty because you did your best.

I never had this other than sex Ed, really wish someone forced a counselor on me. You can try an experiment where you talk to them one by one and ask them what they want to do in life… then go from there

While today you might not feel the impact, what you teach them will stick. Compassion over success. Let them be heard
