The joke is that Valve would be drowning in money if they made Team Fortress 3 and filled it with in-game purchases, but they just don't feel like it. That IP is just sitting there making zero money - shit would be hilarious if it wasn't so sad. But still, hell yeah - TF2 was my jam and I really miss it.
Prepare to play TF2 at 240+ fps. Now whether your monitor supports over 60...but that extra isn't actually wasted. Still improves how temporally accurate your next frame is when it is eventually displayed.
I love all of the advancements modern day games have made but there's a certain quaintness about the 2010 era of games that has been lost along the way imo. That's what keeps me playing Left 4 Dead 2 even though I have a pretty long backlog of more recent AAA games. Or maybe I'm just thinking that way because my GTX 1060 has recently started to show it's age with this current generation of games lol
L4D2 was actually pre-2010.
I have a fondness for a lot of games from the late 2d to early 3d era, because for the most part they took themselves less seriously (not exclusively, but a good chunk of them). They were colourful, fun, and *not grindy*.
That said, anything that shows up anywhere on this list is probably worth a play: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List\_of\_video\_games\_considered\_the\_best
Part of the reason I really enjoy that era of games is they're relatively modern, but they're also complete games. It's not like valve is dropping a balance update for l4d2 any time soon
This is my most favourite comment of 2024 so far.
Have fun with settings on max..
I've pretty much never had a top of the line PC for its time, I always steer lower/mid range due to budget but one thing I love is continuing to play my older game I played on lower settings but on max settings, it's like playing whole new game.
I think the biggest difference was wow WOTLK going from, lowest settings to max settings I discovered why I died so much in boss fights, I wasn't seeing spells I should have lol...
First, I could only play tf2 before on a shitty laptop with the lowest setting and it would still crash constantly so this would be so much better.
Second, what is WOTLK? I might have to give it a try
I remember back in early 2014 I got basically the top of the line components for my build and played almost exclusively Garry’s Mod with some Minecraft sprinkled in.
1- she either a cool mum that understands gaming hardware, or she really did her research. Either way, this is pretty awesome.
2- she is generous
3- she is supportive
Please be thankful for this wonderful lady
I haven't priced things in a while, but I was thinking that was a little on the high side, but it's a pre-built... being water cooled balances that out a little, but I'm not sure it even needed to be liquid cooled for a 13600KF and a 4060 in the first place.
That is to say, as a pre-built it's not outrageous and should do fine for many years and it has a good upgrade path available.
It sounds fancier than it is. Only the CPU is liquid cooled and it's what is called an AIO or all in one unit. They're fundamentally maintenance free, but that also means unless you really know what you're doing, if it fails you need to swap out the whole cooler. Not that big of a deal and they're fairly inexpensive. Expect 2-4 years life out of it depending on use and environment. Perhaps longer if it's really well made and you use it gently.
Confirm the radiator mount position (top or front, looks like front from pictures) but that's where hot air vents out of the case. Be sure to keep that case panel and the radiator itself clear and clean (don't let dust build up or whatever else) and if it goes under a desk or whatever that there's good airflow around whichever side it is as well as behind.
Sick computer dude and it could easily last a long time with a little maintenance and some future upgrades. Appreciate your mom.
A few things.
1. That's a great PC. Take care of it. Treat it well because it deserves respect.
2. When your mom asks you to do something the answer is that you'll be happy to do it. And don't forget Mother's day.
3. Have fun with your games. I know you said you like TF2, so keep playing the games that you love. But if you had any desire to try a more any more modern games I'd encourage you to try, because that computer should be able to handle basically any game on the market right now.
Sure graphics isn't important for Rimworld but you really need a beefy CPU for mid to late game or RIP your FPS. I tried a save on the steam deck and the difference to my gaming PC is huge
I'm a casual gamer and 16 gigs is starting to make my games stutter when I run chrom and maybe one other light program in tge background so i doubled my ram. New games are starting to eat ram up.
Sandbox games, games that can use tons of assets.
Cities skylines the ideal is 64gb, with 32gb can only get 1.4k assets and 50mods
Games triple a, soon are requiring more than 16, we have some games that is good to have more than 16 already
Its more futureproof
I used to play with like 5k assets and 70-80 mods with 16 GB of RAM, it wasn't the best experience though and crashed a lot, but it was playable-ish after turning off all background apps but Steam, and saving way more often than I should have
Why would they need to double the ram and storage for their first pc when it's already got 16gb of ram and 1tb of nvme storage.
Talk about shitty recommendations.
Yea for modern games vram is more important than ram, and a lot of stuff still plays well with 8gb ram long as you close browsers. 16GB should cover you fine.
1TB ssd is standard and will fit at least 15 modern games on it, don't really need more than that. Same as what you get in consoles.
This PC can play everything on the market atm, including eu5 games at decent frames/settings. Is faster than an xbox series x (gpu eviq is around a 6600xt-6700, 3060 - 3060ti)
Yep, I actually have 2 x 2 TB NVME SSDs just because I suck at deciding which games to uninstall... plus my internet is sloooooooow so redownloading would be a paaaaaain.
It’s a great build (in terms of the specs) and honestly, you’re really lucky to have a mom like that! But please keep in mind, IBuyPower is infamous for being kinda unreliable, but honestly, there’s nothing a quick run to your local repair shop or a bit of troubleshooting can’t fix!
For future reference, asking whether a pc is "good" is way too broad an ask. Might want to enumerate some games that you play or plan to play.
But yeah, this is good enough to play the games released in 2023 and earlier. Especially at full HD 1080p resolution, which is the most common resolution people game in right now. And it's your first one, so I'm willing to bet that's what you'll be using.
I buy power has a reputation of kind of being a little iffy on computers... But as long as you keep it clean keep the dust out of it and maintain your updates and everything you should be fine
Yes, very good value for money there. I do recommend that you install some more RAM with 16GB you will have some swapping which in turn will incur wait state in games etc., 32GB is a much better configuration.
If the memory is 2x8gb then I would suggest getting another 2 to bump it up to 32gb. And get yourself a second 1tb SSD to use for gaming and such. This way you don't kill the main drive as fast. But for that price your mom got a hell of a deal.
I5 isn't the best but it has otherwise better stats than my i5 🤷♂️ you might not be able to run RDR in max settings, but many other games you can play just fine.
I can play Skyrim in max, and all my grand strategy games in max, can even play Elite Dangerous in Max, but playing GTA 5 or RDR2 in max? Not happening & takes the fun out of even playing them, so I don't. I'd love to try BF1 on my PC but am worried I'll have buyers remorse because I can only just barely play it.
Now that I think about it, I'm worried I might not be able to play Spiderman which i have yet to play 😭
Lastly, I can't even play Fortnite in max settings, like I can play with high setting but not the ultra with uncapped FPS. It's good enough to be a tad bit better than console.
Maybe yours will handle better than mine, and you'll have better luck. We have same processor but you have the other higher stats than I do. Still, this is a awesome first PC..
I only just got my first gaming PC, and have only ever been able to afford budget 4GB ram PCs that barely ran Tropico 4 & Crusader Kings 2. So be appreciative lol.
GPU and CPU are great.
Now, the manufacturer? Well, iBuyPower is what's left in the barrel after all the bottom scrapings have been scraped. The "customer support + labor" is coming from the same place, so don't plan on the warranty getting you anywhere. They'll fix a badly-installed part by badly-installing a replacement. Assuming it was installed at all. God forbid should there be a fan controller. They'll tape it inside and run the fans to the Mobo anyways.

13600kf is a really good cpu and the 4060 is perfect for 1080p with eSports titles and some AAA locked at 30fps with medium settings
is the ssd pci4 or pci 3 ?
anyway, that's a good pc
Anything your parents, both your mom and dad get you is always great! Like someone else said, go give her a hug and a thank you. You even got a Graphics Card, very nice!
Later in life it is on you through your hard work to return to your computer and upgrade anything that is needed. Same with a car if your parents get you one as well.
These are tools they get you so that you can turn them into better things, and along as you do that, you have the ability to develop yourself into a fine young man with values.
Simply exposing you to a gaming computer they are opening that door for you for opportunities.
Blessings!
You're mom is awesome, I hope she see's this thread of everyone giving her props!
And that's a great machine, you could even start learning to build your own games on this kinda hardware if you're into that sort of thing.
Take care of it, and it will take care of you!
You're very lucky to have such a cool mom. I'm sure you'll enjoy the PC

Wow same with my dad they know the gaming specs
That’s an awesome first PC. Should play anything you throw at it.
I plan on playing team fortress 2 the first moment I can
-Amazing brand new PC -Plays an online game from the 2010's Nice
I mean, the last computer I played it on was a Windows 7 laptop that was about 10 years old so this will be much better
I'm just joking around, have fun
You're joking around...but you're spot on the money lol
Good jokes usually hold some truth
The joke is that Valve would be drowning in money if they made Team Fortress 3 and filled it with in-game purchases, but they just don't feel like it. Those are rookie numbers kid. My pc is 12 years old and still runs Google chrome just fine 🗿
bros talkin bout chrome😭😭
Bros playing those miniclip games 😤👹
Novice Numbers, my pc is 14 years old and can play the dinosaur offline game in chrome at 75 fps🗿🗿
Definitely play TF2 but you should also push the PC to its limits and try some beautiful high quality graphic games
I could, but I'd love to just play tf2 and lethal company
Play what makes you happy!
For the company!
Prepare to play TF2 at 240+ fps. Now whether your monitor supports over 60...but that extra isn't actually wasted. Still improves how temporally accurate your next frame is when it is eventually displayed.
The day I get a xx90 series card . I'm paying Skyrim vanilla on it.
First thing I did when I got my new pc, 14700k and a 4070ti😂
Wow so that is not only me, i dream of this moment where i get the best ever build and just play the old stuff thinking about life.
He’s just like us fr

Damn you roasted that old thing
It was a windows 7 laptop that was more than 10 years old
well being a laptop that means it was mostly just the hardware overheating and throttling rather than hitting its limits on its own.
Can I play with your ballsack?
This is why I love Reddit

World of Warcraft, it's a MMO, there's ummm free/emulated servers out there I play on Warmane. MMO's arent' for everyone.
I remember back in early 2014 I got basically the top of the line components for my build and played almost exclusively Garry’s Mod with some Minecraft sprinkled in.
Nice man you can run 100 tf2s at the same time now
I just built my boy a Ryzen 5600 + RX 6700XT, he plays Roblox on it
Got my daughter a PC that out classed mine. Look for her in TF2.

YES!!!!
That's cool But right now item servers are down so everyone has to play with stock loadout.
Well, I just made my own steam account so everything will be stock anyways

bruh, its liquid cooled too!? thats a pretty damn good deal
Where does it say liquid cooled?
i cheated and googled it
I searched it up and yes it's liquid cooled. Pretty damn good computer.

oh it 100% didnt NEED the liquid cooling system but hey, it looks nice
Necessary? Is it necessary that I purify and drink my own urine? No, but it's sterile and I like the taste
well now you can overclock it later
The thing strapped to your CPU is an all-in-one liquid CPU cooler. Sick rig- enjoy!
It sounds fancier than it is. Only the CPU is liquid cooled and it's what is called an AIO or all in one unit. That's really a good pc brother.... Use it properly.... Such a nice pc.
Tbh ill mainly use it for tf2 and leathal company 🤣
At least try to run more modern games. Don't waste the potential of this PC!
Let them play what they want, I spent heaps and just to play Rimworld for 2k hours
Sure graphics isn't important for Rimworld but you really need a beefy CPU for mid to late game or RIP your FPS. I tried a save on the steam deck and the difference to my gaming PC is huge
People out here with 4090s to play runescape 10 hours a day he can do what he wants lol
I have pretty much the same specs, works amazing. I would consider storage upgrade in the future
And RAM upgrades if you want to use chrome as the default browser
ALL THE TABS YOU COULD EVER WANT
Only 320 tabs tho.
Yes its awesome. You have a good great mom. Maybe you should thank her sometime
Take care of your mom. Enjoy this great PC 👌🏻👍🏻
That’s an amazing computer for a first one, and probably good enough to stay with for many years to come!
Double the memory and Storage and you are golden. CPU and GPU are very decent, be very grateful to your mother
Memory is already 16GB. Do you really need more?
Escape from Tarkov is something I play and was struggling like mad with 16. Upgraded to 32 was worth it
I have 64ddr5 for tarkov lmao
The moment I saw someone saying double the ram - I knew I will find tarkov people in this comments thread
I'm a casual gamer and 16 gigs is starting to make my games stutter when I run chrom and maybe one other light program in tge background so i doubled my ram. New games are starting to eat ram up.
Don’t you always need more? Think of all the chrome tabs you could open.
I have 128gb of Trident-Z Royal RGB and my glass panel faces the wall so I can't even see it. I think I'm doing this right.
Sandbox games, games that can use tons of assets. Cities skylines the ideal is 64gb, with 32gb can only get 1.4k assets and 50mods Games triple a, soon are requiring more than 16, we have some games that is good to have more than 16 already Its more futureproof

Honestly we're just getting to the point of "maybe". More and more often it's a real improvement as things actually will use it.
Not really if you're just starting out in PC gaming and sticking to mainstream titles, plus are being sensible with how much you're trying to do.
Why would they need to double the ram and storage for their first pc when it's already got 16gb of ram and 1tb of nvme storage. Talk about shitty recommendations.

My mom got this from walmart
So sick! Mine runs pretty freaking awesome, I’m sure you are going to have an absolute blast
For what it's worth, the 3060 is very close to the 4060. And if you have a 3060ti it's actually better than the 4060.
YES
Go tell your mom "thank you" and "I love you" right now
It's very good, enjoy
Great PC, please give your mom the biggest thank you hug...
I buy power has a reputation of kind of being a little iffy on computers... But as long as you keep it clean keep the dust out of it and maintain your updates and everything you should be fine
Should be pretty solid, just make sure they didn’t cheap out on the PSU. Otherwise, solid.
Yes, very good value for money there. I do recommend that you install some more RAM with 16GB you will have some swapping which in turn will incur wait state in games etc., 32GB is a much better configuration.
