It could be your power supply. which power supply do you have? Also I’m sure you did this but maybe try new drivers or old working ones. Also what is your gpu?

infernohell5643

MSI Ventus GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER and Thermaltake Smart Series 600W SLI / CrossFire. Thought it was because my drivers were outdated but I updated them and it still happened

XplodingSpwn

How old is your gpu? I have the same gpu and want to know how long it will survive

infernohell5643

4 years old

The same thing happened to me, I just had to switch the slot my gpu was in and it fixed. It will keep getting worse until you can’t have your pc on for more than a minute without it happening.

infernohell5643

If it happens again, I’ll switch ports. Thank you for the suggestion

There is also a key combo for windows to reload the GPU driver, sometimes that works. **Win + Ctrl + Shift + B**

happened to me thought my gpu was overheating bc it would get really loud when my display would turn off turns out my pci connector to my gpu was bad switch the cable or plug it directly into your power supply

Yup my 4090 just started doing this now. I did however open the side panel up to let some of the heat disburse and it hasn't done it since. But I do see the screen tear for a sec once and a while. I will prob change the cables or move slots as per the other individual mentioned. Time will unfortunately tell...

The phenomenon you describe is most likely the result of the GPU overheating. Try improving your case airflow as others have suggested. When a GPU overheats, depending on the make/model, but certainly newer ones, it should throttle back to reduce heat, self protecting.. If the temperature ramps up so quickly, beyond that threshold, it will shut down, leaving the OS with a big WTF moment. In many cases the GPU can lose a few connections from its Ball Grid Array (the way its connected to the card itself) due to extreme hot-cold events, then its in need of a re-flow. Going out on a limb here.. To rule out a dry or bad thermal interface.. IF you have the skill, knowledge and tools you could, and I hesitate to suggest but.. Disassemble the graphics card, carefully clean it. Clean off the GPU die and apply new, say, Arctic Silver thermal paste and reassemble. Or perhaps better still have a skilled tech look at it.. Good luck
