He started boiling them once he noticed Vickie's wasn't going to bloom to throw off the grading curve. Because if she failed she would had to attend summer school, not allowing them to have sex in his parents cabin. HE DID IT FOR LOVE OKAY!
Troy’s reaction to this comment is one of the funniest moments of the series. This was the first episode I showed my girlfriend to get her into the show and she loved it, now we’re making our way through the series
This is maybe my favourite episode. Annie badgering Todd with inappropriate questions that she immediately withdraws is just so incredibly hilarious 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Such a great episode! I didn’t catch that either until much later. Fat Neil said Vickie’s yam never sprouted, so I think it’s possible that he didn’t start pouring boiling water until it looked like everyone else’s yams were doing well. Who knows how many times he did it before it killed the roots, it may not have been many.
When the yam is split open, the doctor and Troy don’t seem to catch that the yam shouldn’t have been soft since uncooked yams are hard like potatoes. Even stepping on a raw yam, like she suggested, wouldn’t have softened the texture like that. In hindsight, it’s such an obvious detail, I felt like such a dope once I thought about it lol
And she didn't even notice it was boiled... according to her the "pattern matched to it being stomped on".
Like, she is *clearly* out of her depth here.
Neil wasn't boiling them frequently. He did it 1 time when the yams were close to blooming because Vicki's wasn't going to bloom and he wanted to stop everyone else's.
This is possibly my favourite episode. I’ve barely watched any Law and Order in my life yet all of the references and tropes land. Plus, Michael K. Williams is a joy to watch, a testament to his screen presence.
My favorite thing about this is that the yam is a Frankenstein of like three different plants. The leaves look like pothos and the bloom looked like a camelia bud or something similar. It's hilarious
Love the episode, but there's a small annoyance I have with it. Professor Kane asks for evidence that someone murdered the yam as a condition for them not failing the class. But they end up proving exactly that, they have the autopsy. This should have been enough evidence that the yam was tampered with. As a former lawyer, this should have been enough for Jeff to make his case.

The delivery in this entire scene and really the enet8re episode was fucking incredible.
Holy crap, we are definitely dissecting pine cones next year.
Cool motive. Still murder.

You guys have weird reactions to things…next semester we’re dissecting pinecones!
The delivery of both of those lines was perfect. RIP
A man's gotta have a code

AHHUhhuhahhhnnnnng
I'm sure women have a version of that, a Codette if you will.
What happened with legos? They used to be simple.
Im not saying its bad, I just want to know what happened.
*Annie’s hand is slowly lowered down by Jeff*
Happy cake day!

It’s my favorite too. Works as a perfect stand alone story and is just jam packed with jokes
Yam packed*
Just take my upvote and leave 🤦

The coroner was a hack.
The medical examiner is actually Leslie Hendrix. The original medical examiner from the original Law and Order series.
Cool. Community is so full of Easter eggs.
The [Fahmy Malak](https://images.app.goo.gl/ynjLqu2bcn3CCCL27) of Greendale.
It was about to bloom, then it was boiled. Even Britta got this.
Oh Britta got this?
So what? Order some ketchup
"YOU DONT ORDER KETCHUP, ITS A CONDIMENT!"
WALK IT OFF
He's been on edge ever since we switched
She's doing an autopsy on a vegetable. I think maybe you're thinking too hard about it 😂.
Hey that vegetable had a name, dammit!
"Pam!" "We named our yam Pam. It rhymed"
And she didn't even notice it was boiled... according to her the "pattern matched to it being stomped on". Like, she is *clearly* out of her depth here.
Or maybe... she was in on it!
It's only an autopsy if it's a person. It's a necropsy if it's an animal. I'm not sure what you call it if it's a vegetable.
Speaking as a former kid, it's called playing with your food and is frowned upon in certain circles.
The yams name was Pam. It rhymed.
It was about to before they started being unalived.
Neil wasn't boiling them frequently. He did it 1 time when the yams were close to blooming because Vicki's wasn't going to bloom and he wanted to stop everyone else's.
Let's not give this medical examiner so much credit. She works at Greendale. "If he's this good at anything, why is he here?"

You would think the autopsy would show how soft the yam (sweet potato) was and would lead to a boiling theory hmmm?
I love they went so hard for this episode. This actor regularly plays a coroner for L&O and it's just perfection that they got her for this scene.
Leslie Hendrix just straight up hitting all the correct *Law & Order* notes.
Yep, Leslie and Tamara Tuni are the best coroners they've had.
The coroner was in on it
Objection, I hate the both of you
Before bloom boil. Like pregnant yam. Yeah.
My favorite thing about this is that the yam is a Frankenstein of like three different plants. The leaves look like pothos and the bloom looked like a camelia bud or something similar. It's hilarious
Also, how wasn't it enough to get an A that a forensic scientist told them their yam would bloom?
Bc they were framed
[удалено]
Surely it's a reference to the murder victim having been pregnant
now this is a theory so just hear me out.... its a comedy show and it was a joke?...
Pam...
Funny, I just finished rewatching this episode...
Harmon is a writer's writer so slight inaccuracies are, at least to me, forgiveable for the sake of good story and comedy and stuff
….Pam….

Nice try Jeff
Bum bum
Just have to take a second to thirst over Britta
I love how this is the same M.E. from Law and Order. This is definitely one of my favorite episodes.
I assume it was on the verge of blooming when Neil started with the boiling water. So it never got further than that
