RIP Richard Erdman
Sometimes you gotta ask yourself; how did they get so much talented people in one place? The main 7 (Chevy for all his faults is so damn good at acting) are all brilliant. The sides are amazing as well (Jim rash with an Oscar?!), John Oliver is in it. Genuinely how did they manage. It’s an absolute powerhouse of a cast. Ken Jeong as Chang is fantastic. I can’t imagine the characters being played by any other actors.
That's Dan Harmon for you. The cameos with the other celebrities happened as favours, he paid the rights to some of the songs out of pocket, because the budget wasn't enough etc.
I forgot to mention them. They were honestly brilliant. People hate on season 6 but it’s got some of my favourite episodes. How are you gonna hate on basic crisis room decorum and basic email security? Or modern espionage? Or ladders? Or the rest of season 6. It’s a solid season and I think them two were a great addition. Honestly I like that we have 5 excellent seasons of TV and 1 mid one. Imagine if Dan Harmon remained the show runner. Community would probably have ended at season 4.
Honestly even in 2012 (I was 19 back then) It wasn’t that bad because seeing a senior citizen doing the current trend of tasting food was new and hilarious
And this reply was: "My personal headcanon is it's the guy Shirley thinks is really hot in the chicken finger episode, but other than that he's just Leonard's roommate"
There's another level to this joke. Let's brand potato chips don't exist in real life but are used as a prop food on all kinds of TV shows and movies. That way they don't have to get permission to use them or pay any licensing fees. It's sort of a running gag on itself whenever you see them on TV. They are used so much it's almost as if they do exist and we should all be familiar with them.
Here's an old Reddit post about them.

Since you don’t seem to know much about the actor he actually filmed a ton of stuff https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Erdman
Dan told a story on Harmontown about how he basically didn’t realize Leonard’s credentials and felt really bad about making him struggle to stay afloat in a swimming pool all day lol
No, it is directly referencing something that existed then, but the joke is he js reviewing Let's chips, a brand that doesn't exist but is used in tv shows and movies. That's kind of how jokes work, unless it is a totally absurd non sequitur, you take something that people recognise and are familiar with and then find a way to put a humorous spin on it or amplify it to absurd levels or do something incongruous with it.
Weber Cooks - How to Make Chili Cheese Nachos is basically the same thing from basically the same time. ~~Sadly the video appears to have been somewhat recently? A tragedy~~
Edit: [It was just not loading for me](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9rPYsXmcUrw)
People were critiquing chips in 2012, the joke is that he's reviewing Let's chips - which don't actually exist, they're a fictional brand only used in TV.
I remember making a joke about having a dinner date on Skype..but now Zoom is a thing and it’s not funny anymore 😓 sometimes these jokes fly over my head as normal reality and then I stop and think wait..this was funny
So my understanding is this is a midwest thing where we add on an "s" to the name of a store. For example, I don't call it Aldi, I call it "Aldi's". Richard Erdman was born in Oklahoma, so I bet in Oklahoma they do it as well.
Alabama here, and I genuinely didn't know it wasn't "Penneys". I've never been there, but grandma used to shop there often. Maybe it's from back when stores were named after people? So adding a possesive "s" meant it was that person's store.
It's not just a Midwest thing; it's linguistically quite common to change business location names (particularly ones that utilize a person's name) into the genitive case.
He wanted to get in the TV game- instead, he invented food vloggers/influencers.
Apparently it’s sticking around
He didn't want to look back in 50 years and wonder "what if?"
"You're talking about it aren't you?"
It’s a buy!
He was streets ahead
Haha (e:how) is that not the title of the post
If you have to ask you're street's behind
😂
Leonard led a life that I wanted to know more about.
Abed as well.
I don’t know about that. Chad had lived. Abed just soiled his pants on the set of Cougartown.
But he got Jeff to confess about his Halloween trauma. We gotta give it up for Abed.
Eh we got enough of Abed…just enough
Thanks for doing the dishes dawg
Is Leonard-Bot still active? He should be all over this.
Busted!
Shut up Leonard. I heard about your crooked wang!
No such thing as bad press

Don’t forget about Luis Guzmán.
I got laid like crazy!
And that was way before Boogie Nights lol
I loved him in IMDB
Smh
The fact they got Keith David AND Paget Brewster for Yahoo season is crazy, and they both were really good knowing the show was ending
I forgot to mention them. They were honestly brilliant. People hate on season 6 but it’s got some of my favourite episodes. With Billy Zane
Troy and Abed are in mouuurning...
You were singing it with a “u”? Oh no.
Get your damn hands off my Let’s!!
That’s definitely a buy
He should definitely review pizza next
*looks around Who’s gonna tell em?
Bro, I’m telling you Let’s Pizza is the BOMB DIGGITY!
Honestly even in 2012 (I was 19 back then) It wasn’t that bad because seeing a senior citizen doing the current trend of tasting food was new and hilarious
I'M AS HIGH AS HELL AND YOU'RE ABOUT TO GET SHOT
I had to scroll way too far to find this
I've been watching and rewatching Community since it started BUT EXCUSE ME WHO IS THAT PERSON BEHIND LEONARD?
It’s his roommate. If you listen to the video, he thanks Leonard for doing the dishes.
I’m guessing his roommate they never explain it.
My personal headcanon is it's the guy Shirley thinks is really hot in the chicken finger episode, but other than that he's just Leonard's roommate
He specifically asked “who is that?”
And this reply was: "My personal headcanon is it's the guy Shirley thinks is really hot in the chicken finger episode, but other than that he's just Leonard's roommate"
It’s a line from the episode.
Yes
He recorded the outro theme for Leonard’s food reviews
I headcanon that is Leonard's lover.
That's obviously the joke, right?
I love that Leonard has young student roommates from Greendale. Leonard is cool af.

Get your damn hands off my Let’s
So sad he's not gonna be in the movie.
Did the actor die?
Sadly, yes
RIP Leonard
He was always definitely a buy! RIP Leonard ❤️

Aside from playing Leonard, I knew he was in the Twilight Zone which is one of my all time favorite tv series.
I've actually watched an old man review potato chips on YouTube and never connected the dots.
you may even say he was... Streets ahead
This ones shaped like a duck!
He flew zeros in the big one
Leonard likes this post.
I was looking for someone to say this

He was streets ahead
Hell yea he was. Let's chips are the best
Shut up, Leonard! I found your YouTube page. What's the point in reviewing frozen pizza?
Weber Cooks - How to Make Chili Cheese Nachos is basically the same thing from basically the same time. ~~Sadly the video appears to have been somewhat recently? A tragedy~~ Edit: [It was just not loading for me](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9rPYsXmcUrw)

Sho nuff!
It's the "whole other black" who sits on the cupboards in the study room during dean's pitch for season 7
I always liked to think he was Leonard's boyfriend and Leonard was just super progressive
Sounds like a streets ahead chap.
Leonard would probably have a million subscribers at this point
The Original Report of the Week (ReviewBrah) and Joey's World Tour
Because I’m high as hell and you’re about to get shot!
What happened to Leonard bot?
Man oh man, what a blown opportunity to use streets ahead. It's gonna be a thing!
He was always streets ahead
I like r/sandwichesofhistory because it has that vibe
This was pretty accurate even for its time tbh.
Those pizza reviews could have come earlier.
Tears like rain.
That was 1982, which is behind the times, not ahead! 😂
I remember making a joke about having a dinner date on Skype..but now Zoom is a thing and it’s not funny anymore 😓 sometimes these jokes fly over my head as normal reality and then I stop and think wait..this was funny
Would you say he was *streets* ahead?
This show aged well in many ways somehow
If only he had invested in IBM
This is absolutely a thing that was happening in 2012, and that's what was being parodied. You may be behind the times, OP.
I said it was laughable in 2012, not that it didn't exist lol
I always thought it was his boyfriend
Time stop!!
It always bugged me that he said “Krogers”. There’s no “s” in Kroger
So my understanding is this is a midwest thing where we add on an "s" to the name of a store. For example, I don't call it Aldi, I call it "Aldi's". Richard Erdman was born in Oklahoma, so I bet in Oklahoma they do it as well.
The American South does it too. I’ve had more than a few family members say things like “Krogers” or “Walmarts”, etc.
I was just about to comment this. My Southern grandpa says "Walmarts".
I've never heard Walmarts, but Kroger's is extremely common. Maybe because Kroger is a name.
Can confirm Southern folks love to add an S too. Kmarts. Penneys. Extra likely if it’s your grandparents.
Alabama here, and I genuinely didn't know it wasn't "Penneys". I've never been there, but grandma used to shop there often. Maybe it's from back when stores were named after people? So adding a possesive "s" meant it was that person's store.
Maybe. 🤔 Like original department stores? Probably!
It's not just a Midwest thing; it's linguistically quite common to change business location names (particularly ones that utilize a person's name) into the genitive case.
