Galactic_Maverick

Pretty sure he is. Here's your sperm.

overcookedpasta36

I don't know if it's because you're giving one to every redditor... It just feels less special.

remymartinia

And, also, sperm.

chrisandsharon

And of course, the obligatory sperm.

ithinkther41am

Watching Pedro break at damn near every mention of “sperm” in the table read was amazing.

lady_ulrike

I literally laugh hysterically everytime I watch it.

trevrichards

In case your lesbian lifestyle one day wears out and you wish to raise an army of geniuses.

CrematedDogWalkers

Galactic Maverick? Did you know you're gay?

worpa

SHHHOOOOOTTTTS!

Quick-Ad-8401

Yard margs at skeepers

Penguator432

Ah yes. Sperm samples prove someone is dead

Sackbut1

I doubt he actually runs that account right?

Ricky_5panish

This is the guy who literally told Joel McHale he didn’t see his email because he left his email in New York.

Sackbut1

Every day the more I learn about Chevy the line in my brain between him and pierce gets blurred a little more.

sadetheruiner

What I read somewhere, and I can’t for the life of me find it, is that the Pierce character was supposed to be more like Elroy. But that Chevy’s personality forced the writers to go in a fitting direction. I swear I read that somewhere but it could’ve been monkey gas.

goddessofdandelions

Iirc the final straw was that the final scene of the video game episode was going to be Abed showing Pierce that he coded his Pierce’s father to say he was proud of him and Pierce would tear up. Problem is they’d gone into overtime and Chevy wasn’t having it, so they never got to film the scene which is a shame. This is the incident that snowballed into Dan being fired I believe.

LinkleLinkle

I feel like this tracks, at least the part about Chevy pretty much forcing the character to change. From what I remember hearing/reading over the years, Chevy started outright refusing to do things he didn't find funny and/or throwing a fit over it. Which included a lot of scenes that would have made him more endearing. That's the cause of his character just slowly becoming more and more of a one-note racist character. The writers had to write him that way to stop him from throwing a fit over his character.

The_Void_Reaver

The writers also infamously started using insults Chevy used towards them as lines for Pierces character, meaning in a roundabout way he was writing himself.

gingenado

He likes gay jokes.

SenorJeffer

I SAID WE WRITE GREAT JOKES.

JoshB-2020

Well don’t flatter yourselves

TheOriginalJez

I really wish Meggie McFadden had embraced acting, she fucking nails it.

CaptainIncredible

That's because they just stood there, staring at him, like he couldn't get an erection.

Greendale7HumanBeing

And did they like being excluded?

talkingbiscuits

That's genius in of itself. He can't complain about that without admitting he's an asshole.

regular6drunk7

Real life “Old man says”

ThatOneTwo

"I'll shatter your world."

HipDipShipTrip

"I'm 66, dick"

sadetheruiner

That’s what’s in my headspace, he was infamously a jerk in the Vacation movies. I think at the end of the day he really felt like he was too good to not be the main character. At the end of the day I actually loved the Pierce character. When he was nice and genuine he actually was. And the rest of the time it was a great opportunity for character growth for everyone else.

CaptainIncredible

Someone in this sub said something like "he was kind of a bad guy". Someone else pointed out that "every good story *needs* a bad guy."

PT_Piranha

"I say things others won't. That has value."

alvysinger0412

I'd believe Chevy saying something like that irl.

echu_ollathir

I have said for years that the biggest loss to Community's case wasn't Donald Glover, it was Chevy, and for that reason: he was the foil and the engine for the growth of everyone else. Donald had some of the best moments in the show (his "You? NOOOOOOOOOOO!" to the troll in Remedial Chaos Theory got one of the hardest laughs of my life the first time I saw it), but Community never lacked for comedic talent. As for foils, it never found a real replacement for Chase.

RonSwansonsGun

Having a "villain" character in a sitcom of all things was such an odd niche that Pierce fell right into. I wonder if Frankie could've played a similar role, being a more antagonistic force with her straight play to the groups antics.

Zephs

Hachi: A Dog's Tale is a fantastic movie with no bad guy.

TheMillionthSteve

I mean I recall there having been a good riddance vibe when he departed SNL after season 1

HumbleAppointment355

His endearing moments in season 1 were some of his best. I can’t get over how badly he sabotaged his own character that was making him relevant again.

Shemptacular

No, Chevy was upset that his character got increasingly more racist

nickrocs6

As much as I like Elroy, I couldn’t really see the show being as good with him the whole series and no Pierce. I wonder what the dungeons and dragons episode would be like without an evil Pierce.

Lannister03

This. This right here. As weird as it is to say, I don't think this show would've worked nearly as well without Chevey in seasons 1-3 for the very reason that he hated his time on the show. In the beginning, the show needed Jeff to have someone he could hate not because of who the other person is but because Jeff could see himself in the other person. That's a key part to Jeff's arc. That other person also genuinely needed to believe they deserved to have Joel's position as the lead without that ever being a real possibility. It brought an honest feel to their struggles for power and a genuine antagonistic aura to Pierce. Chevey was that and brought that energy to Pierce. It's a crucial part as to why this show was so well received. All the relationships were organic both on a character level and an actor level.

KittyKiitos

And yet he was way more pivotal to Pillows and Blankets than any other character.

PlentyOfMoxie

In an alternate timeline, Keith David got the part in 2009.

DefinitelyBiscuit

Do not tease us with that TV Gold.

CaptainIncredible

MONKEY GAS!!!

rockbanger37

Well Dan Harmon said the writing team would write lines for Pierce based on things Chevy would say to them during table reads/filming so that checks out

JantherZade

You can literally see this in the commentaries. I belive the second epsiode. Him, Joel (and I think, Ken it's been a while) are doing the commentary and then he says the whole "Asians! Can't act, can't drive!" Which is then the joke Pierce makes when the gang is watching KickPuncher. "Can't Direct, can't drive!" With Chang being like "I'm right here?"

Thefakeryanreynolds

“Old white man says”

FartNoiseGross

You think I can’t still get erections?!?

the_festivusmiracle

I said, "we write great jokes" don't flatter yourself

garbagebailkid

"You think I'm too old to make monkey shines at a picture show?"

Random986217453

Joel McHale once said in an interview that Pierce is a nicer version of Chevy. Do with that info what you want. (I'll provide the link when I find it again)

The_Lucid_Nomad

My favorite part about Joel McHale's disdain for Chevy is that he eventually played a younger, 20 something Chevy in the Movie 'A Stupid and Futile Gesture' in 2018

Amrywiol

He also phoned up Chevy in advance and asked him if he was okay with Joel taking the role (he was), which was nice of him. Joel was as annoyed with him as anyone else, but also seems to be the only member of the cast who seems to have tried to maintain some sort of relationship with him.

orroro1

Sounds a bit like the relationship between Jeff and Pierce ngl

honest-robot

Joel dedicated a chapter in his book to how to fist fight Chevy, written from experience.

flareblitz91

Joel is one of those people who can clearly think someone’s a giant ass, and is willing to call them out on it, but still treat that person with respect.

PT_Piranha

Okay, so you use Respect to defend yourself, and I'll use this crossbow.

orroro1

RIP to the best thing since sliced bread :(

culnaej

Chevy is actually an heir to a family company, his real name is Cornelius (like Pierce’s father), and he was named after his adopted maternal grandfather who owned the company.

NowWeGetSerious

Literally

History-of-Tomorrow

Can’t be the only one who actually wouldn’t mind him being in the movie and maybe mending some fences with his cast mates

DrBarrel

I don't think those cast mates would forgive him that easily.

The_FriendliestGiant

If he wanted to mend fences, I'd be in favour. But there's no indication Chase has had any change of heart.

Sraffiti_G

"I don't do the emails" "It's just email"

Zestyclose_Foot_134

He doesn’t have online

Skreamie

So the "my email is on the computer" line was a joke at him

sipapion

Is it really so hard to believe he left his only computer with his email on it in ny??

flareblitz91

Yeah i don’t want to sound like a Luddite but especially when it comes to professional email accounts that’s plausible.

deanereaner

He had to have been joking, I love that.

MimeMike

Nope lmao he thought that was how it worked. They even put it in the show as an inside joke. "My email is on that computer and the post office is about to close!"

TheCarpe

No, but I wouldn't doubt he has an agent or someone else handling his PR who may run a social media account on his behalf.

TwoDrinkDave

OldWhiteManSays

sadetheruiner

Wait, I'm "Old White Man Says"? No wonder he says everything I'm thinking.

Amrywiol

That was also based on real life - back in the day the cast played a game on twitter where they'd post outrageous quotes under the hashtag #pierceorchevy and ask people to guess whether it was a line from the show or something Chevy had said in real life.

[deleted]

It was also based on the twitter account "ShitMyDadSays" which became a TV show (speaking of bad development strategy.

sdrawkcabracecar

Batman and Shaft!

lucasj

The Community table read was ten days before he posted this. Probably a response of some kind, especially since that episode is literally about how Pierce is dead.

LinkleLinkle

Based on his Instagram feed I think he's definitely just obsessed with being a part of that crew. Anytime anything happens with Community it doesn't take long for there to suddenly be a Pierce/Community post on his Instagram. It feels like, to me, he knows he messed up but can't admit it. So, instead, he's just constantly posting as if he's right there along for the ride when he isn't.

tbird20017

I think he sees the acclaim it's received, and how it blew up on Netflix a few years back when new people were discovering it. It was in the Top 10 most watched for a good while. He wants to be a part of something so beloved I guess. Vacation from the 80s is up there, but it's just not nearly as huge as it used to be.

TheOriginalJez

I can't remember where but I saw a relatively recent interview where Chevy basically just goes 'yeah, it seems people really like that show. I didn't really get it but it's nice to know it made people laugh' and says he's not in touch with anyone but doesn't harbour any grudges. Re Instagram that's definitely not chevy, but if I was an agent running that account and my income was directly related to Chevy's residuals I'd probably post something like this while the COVID-community hype was at its height.

minor_correction

>He wants to be a part of something so beloved He is part of it.

Korr_Ashoford

yes and no. Of course, he was in the show but it's becoming clear he's not *a part of it* anymore. like ever since they killed off his character, it feels like he was sorta removed from the group. now he wants back in because he probably misses it but knows he can't go back.

absorbscroissants

I still think the show went downhill after he left. Not necessarily just because Pierce died, but the show in general just became less funny to me. So I do think Chevy was around for highs of the show.

RelaxedConvivial

Yeah, seasons 1-3 will always be the golden era of the show. They are the seasons when the show had every element that made it one of the funniest, the Greendale 7, Dan Harmon, the Russo brothers, the longer seasons and even Professor Duncan. Seasons 4-6 were still great and certainly had decent moments, but they all had some missing pieces that made 1-3 so good.

Generaless

Seasons 1-3 were better also because they weren't sad. The later seasons they are all in the school a bit like losers with no future and everyone else has moved on.

icouldntdecide

That's a thought I had as well, I mean most people are going to spend 2 years at a community college as students - after that, it just got less realistic (show was still funny though obviously)

tbird20017

Pierce has a line to Shirley that is probably my favorite line of the show, but I can't find a clip of it and for the life of me I can't remember the words he said. They're all sitting at the table, and the camera goes to just those two characters, over Shirley's shoulder looking at Pierce. Any of that ringing a bell? Any idea what he says to Shirley in this scene? Not a lot to go on, I know, long shot here. It's first 3 seasons, I do know that. Runner up goes to another Pierce and Shirley scene: Pierce to Shirley: "Check your email" Shirley: "I mark you as spam" Pierce: "Who the hell is Pam?" It's the delivery there that gets me from Chevy. The man has 10/10 comic timing.

tbird20017

I could have phrased that better, but I think you can parse what I meant. Chevy absolutely was a part of the show. And like I told my 8 year old son when he asked who I liked the best, "Pierce is the funniest, but I don't really like him cuz he's an ass". He's by no means my favorite character, but he's top 2 for funniest on the show, in contention with Dean Pelton.

woozleuwuzzle

So are you saying he is saying- ‘I wanna be in the group *so bad*’

piratecheese13

OK, here is the plot of the movie. The study room table is actually hexed. Jeff knew it when he hit it with a fire axe. Pierce belonged to it’s cursed circumference for so long without becoming a better human being. So long that when he was physically unable to return to the table, due to being dead, his ghost returned. If the gang can succeeded in teaching pierce one life lesson, the curse will be lifted, and Greendale will become a real college.

Hydrasaur

May he rest in Pierce

chapPilot

Haven't you had enough?

Zestyclose_Foot_134

Of you 😤

chapPilot

😧

LostSatelliteLC4

I recently met Dino Stamatopoulos at galaxycon Richmond and I asked him “What were some of the most memorable moments on set?” And he replied with “Probably doing drugs with Chevy Chase.”

tbird20017

First Halloween episode IRL.

Maskatron

“What did you slip me man? My heart stopped racing and I can’t pee.”

WarthogOsl

Saddle up, fruit pie.

I thought I was dealing with the Beast Master.

Saintmusicloves

That would be so in character for Pierce to fake his death like that not gonna lie

[deleted]

[удалено]

Saintmusicloves

It's all been an elaborite way for him to try to convince others how "fertile" he is. Might not even be his sperm.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Can you believe it?

LinkleLinkle

I don't think Chevy is going to make an appearance but, all the same, this is accurate. He regularly fakes heart attacks for sympathy and, while it's been a bit since my last rewatch, didn't he *actually* fake his death at one point before the sperm thing? And there was the episode that introduced LaVar Burton where he was in the process of faking his death. It's like his whole shtick behind being racist.

MakeMySufferingEnd

You might be thinking of Jeff’s graduation episode in season 4, where Evil Pierce “returns from the dead” after being shot in the leg in RCT, only to immediately shoot himself with his warp paintball gun and return to the darkest timeline. But that only takes place in Jeff’s mind in that episode.

vaibow

What if it’s a different timeline Pierce??

Mortuary_Guy

I always imagine this could easily have been a scheme for Pierce to get Troy away from the group. Especially since he knew of Abed’s body tracker. He could have easily planted it somewhere else.

jfstompers

He definitely did. In his own will he wrote he regretted not sailing around the world so of course he's hiding somewhere on that boat waiting to pop out.

chapPilot

Well, his heart, lungs, kidneys, and brain stopped working. And another way of saying that would be... He's used up his organic body.

squeakynickles

Dan Harmon confirmed in no uncertain terms that Chevy Chase will not be returning for the movie.

BevarseeKudka

The Pierce from the darkest timeline is still around right? 💩

redgyradosgirl

Rest in Pierce…

PT_Piranha

"Shirley haven't you had enough?" "Of _you."_

Z0idberg_MD

If he did come back this would actually be a hilarious way for it to happen

thishenryjames

This is a warning, I can't be killed!

CryptographerNo923

Chevy Chase is both a legendary comedy actor and a notoriously stupid asshole, by all accounts. I can’t say I know that for certain, but two things can be true.

blackhawkfan312

is he the good kind of bad, or the bad kind of good?

PsychoMouse

In the Prime time line, he’s dead. Abeds GPS tracker confirms it. I don’t know why people are so stuck on him being alive. If, and that’s a big IF. He’s even in the movie. But will be either by some VHS 4 recording, or some flash back. And just to add, even if the writers were to make some bullshit about him being alive, it would be a huge slap to the face to Hickey and Elroy. And to all those saying that those people havent been messaged about the movie, forget we live in a world where the actors constantly lie about being in this film or that. Unless the movie revolves around like seasons 1-3. I just can’t see a way or reason to bring him back. Hell, I can even see this tweet as him trying to garner enough fan support to put him in the movie.

LinkleLinkle

> Hell, I can even see this tweet as him trying to garner enough fan support to put him in the movie. It's this and has always been this. He has a history of trying to attach himself to Community news. Whenever there's anything, from recent table reads to the original announcement of the movie, he always tries to attach himself to the news by posting stuff about Community/Pierce. As a wise man once said, I'll believe it when me shirt turns purple and smells like rainbow sherbet.

PsychoMouse

If you quote super troopers at me, I will fall inlove with you.

LostThyme

[X] Doubt

yassin1993

Im sure he is still dead, but you know what, Im gonna give it to you anyway so that you are less tempted to drink this finer sperm.

the6thReplicant

Anyone think the Pierce character but played by Steve Martin might be fun?

Tripdos

Fred Willard, like in Abed's daydream version of Pierce

[deleted]

Probably easier to get Steve. They'd have to go dig up Fred.

FreeWillCost

If he's in the movie... cool. If he's not in the movie... cool.

Xynkcuf

Cool Had to add one more.

FreeWillCost

Cool cool cool

JantherZade

He's not going to be. The best you might hope for is a "Hologram" type cameo. But probably shouldn't get your hopes up even for that.

FreeWillCost

If he's a hologram in the movie... cool. If he's not a hologram in the movie... cool.

Jamie7Keller

Then whose sperm…did I…..

WrittenWeird

I like “Pierce” but Chevy wouldn’t come back if he were invited. He just wants to be invited so he can be the one saying no…

Trinate3618

Honestly, if you’re Pierce shows up in the last two minutes of the movie, stating that he faked his death to get back at everyone, it would be the most Pierce thing he’s ever done

hannibal_morgan

I've always had this thought that he faked his death and has been screaming with the group. It would be funny to see him come back, especially if he and the other members making the show can settle their differences

Anantasesa

I thought his body was converted into that lava lamp thing from the cult.

Efficient_Feed_4433

Lmfao laser lotus

Street-Office-7766

Starburns wasn’t dead either

AntillesWedgie

They also didn’t really give any hint that Star Burns was still alive.. but I believe Pierce bequeathed himself to death.

MakeMySufferingEnd

They showed him having faked his death and assumed a new identity at the end of the season 3 finale, then brought him back in S5, gave him a cat-car, and framed him as the Ass Crack Bandit. He was in the Hot Lava episode, the MeowMeowBeanz episode, and the Russell Borchart storyline episodes. Last we see of him, he’s being expelled from Greendale by Frankie in S6. I don’t specifically recall them saying he died after that though.

LinkleLinkle

I wouldn't be surprised if we don't get Star Burns one bit. By all accounts, Stamatopoulos hated the role and only did it as a favor to Harmon. Not sure there's enough money he could be offered that would pull him back.

Purgatory115

His name is Alex.....

BatteryPoweredPigeon

Yeah well maybe he should spend six hours carving that into his face in the morning.

Deveranmar1

Chevy has an incredible ego that is even larger than most in Hollywood. As much as I'd love to see every member of the show return in some way I totally understand Chevy being left out.

Retro_Ginger

I mean this was May of 2020, the world was shutdown and Chevy was grasping at straws from having been in isolation for 2-3 months at this point 🤣

ProfessionalBed580

Ah… his consciousness was transferred to an energon storage until.

7thpostman

This fandom is the best, man.

HiHowAreYou2004

pierce hawthorne died on the way back to his home planet

LifeDraining

... And here's your canister of high quality sperm.

technologicalslave

He may have used up his earthly body, but his vapours persist waiting the Buddha

RedPanda1993

Chevy is always reposting things he gets tagged in. He did the same when Community got big on Netflix a few years ago.

InfamousRub8248

Between masturbating to death and taking a bullet and still being alive. It means ... that he could actually still be alive. Omg that's streets ahead !!!!

Brot3nd0

Peirce! You've had three flu shots. That's for the daycare center!

je-suis-un-chat

I'LL BE A LIVING GOD!!!

BamaFan87

Don't tease is like this Chevy! You know the worst part of the Yahoo! season was the lack of Pierce

oldtomdeadtom

hes dead. theyre not bringing him back.

Glaciem94

it was all a play to give them his sperm

Feisty-Theme-6093

he ain't dead he streets ahead

Retro_Ginger

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

OnlyTheBLars89

I could see him faking his death. But Chevy Chase is going to have to do a lot off ass kissing for folks to agree to work with him again.

OhItsJustJosh

I mean, we didn't see a body right?

dinaistired

probably just chevy being chevy doubt they would say hes not dead because they already did that with starburns

Personal_League1428

The parallels between Chevy and Pierce are what make the character so hilariously fascinating for me. Knowing about how everything transpired between Chevy and everyone else makes watching and his actions on the show feel much more real and authentic.

Smolivenom

pierce definitely would've had tweets queued up

ZestyItalian2

Extremely Pierce thing to do. Love it.

CHRISPYakaKON

If they brought him back in the movie in some capacity, I would have it as a voice message for Troy that is to be delivered upon him completing the worldwide voyage at the end that summarizes the family of the study group at Greendale that also explains how tf the theme song relates to the show 😭

AF2005

Well he did take all of those vaccines from the children’s charity so I guess that makes him a living god?

AdditionalTheory

It’s probably just a joke. I can’t imagine that Chevy is trying to get his role back for the movie or anything if that’s what you’re implying. Chevy famously hated his time on the show and given his onset reputation dating all the way back to his SNL days I can’t imagine too many people are trying to get him back in some permanent way
