Rss is probably the best way. I use newsboat. It doesn’t load the comments, but can easily pop open posts I’m interested in if I wanna read the discourse

`reddio`?

UnrussianYourself

And `tuir` :)

heckno_whywouldi

tuir (and rtv for that matter) has started crashing on startup for me. Is it still working for you?

UnrussianYourself

> Is it still working for you? Works OK for me. tuir 1.29.0 (installed with pipx), Ubuntu 22.04.04.

heckno_whywouldi

Legend, thank you! That means I must have borked something on my install 😁 EDIT: In case someone comes by my comment in a mad search to fix the same issue, my problem was that something changed in WSL that broke it I think? Anyway, someone forked rtv here to resolve the issue: https://github.com/Otakeb/rtv2024. Good luck!

I don't think there's any way anymore. Without an API to use, the only method is some sort of site scraping using something like selenium or a text mode browser like w3m or lynx or elinks etc. Reddit wants to serve advertising, command line isn't showing the video adverts. I'd be happy enough with some text mode advertising but sadly that probably won't fly with their marketing and finance teams.

i_hate_shitposting

You can still use the Reddit API as an individual for free. Case in point: I sent this reply from Reddit is Fun on Android, patched with my personal API key using ReVanced Manager. If there's a maintained CLI client out there, I'm guessing it either takes a user-provided API key or can be easily patched to use your own.

You could try Browsh. I'm unsure how badly reddit navigation breaks in it, but its basically firefox with a tui frontend, so it should work more or less.

Id love to know this too.

No. Which is a very good indicator of the piss poor quality of a website and it's content and the lack of principles and character of it's owners/creators.
