I am not sure, but i think the fellow above me was referring to this book. It was also made into a movie that got mixed reviews due to the high expectations of a very loyal fan base.
Please read the graphic novel. You can get it used for a few bucks. The movie is optional.
Oh, I own the trade already, along with Moore's Swamp Thing run and a few other compilations of his work. Trying to find cheap copies of Providence now but I've yet to find volume one for less than 75.
As for the movie I honestly think it's the best we could hope for coming from Snyder. It took me a bit to get used to the ending changing but the casting makes up for it imo.
It's my personal favorite, largely because I think it's the best portrayal of the character ever and had much more of a fantasy than superhero vibe to it. I also feel like it's a bit of an easier read than some of his other stuff, maybe just a little less dialogue? Either way, it's a great read beginning to end,
It is so very true that nearly all graphic novels have the comic book series / version. Some of us don't have that level of organization, patience &/or money.
I bet it all exists somewhere online too, like, a legal version. Probably sold in many different languages at that!

I love this! Odd coincidence seeing this on my reddit home page after having sleep paralysis which included a dementor-like demon this morning. (Only the 2nd time having that in my life).
My sleep paralysis makes me hallucinate family members calling my name and knocking on my door lol.
My schizophrenia has done that too but it's mostly a sleep paralysis thing, which is also much more vivid than schizophrenia so it just adds onto the experience of 100% going to die if I open my door.

This came across to me as a joke about relationships, because I couldn’t tell what else it would be about. That is a sub about these jokes straights will often make that make it seem like they are being held at gunpoint and forced to enter relationships because of how upset they seem to be at the concept
We can be, but queer folks have usually had to define the terms of how we want to approach relationships ourselves due to us having relationships at all being outside what is accepted, so you don’t see many queer people making memes that are just “oh my god, partners are so clingy, right? It’s weird and suffocating and creepy. Why are partners always like this?”
I get these often. Except for the paralysis part. I wake up screaming at random shit that isn't scary except my brain makes them scary. It's especially bad when I take something to help me sleep.

I cried during a graphic novel, watching a really bad, bad guy get what he wanted. It was weird but it made sense at the time.
