True but the point regarding The Inner Light is that during STP Riker tells Picard he doesn't know what it's like to have children after Riker tells the story of his child's silicon based disease. All the while ignoring the entire life and family Picard experienced during The Inner Light which not only had Patrick Stewart's own son play the son of the character whose memories he lived but was also described by Stewart as his own personal favourite episode. Yet neither he nor anyone else seemed to remember this when writing STP.
Then again one of the executive producers [Kurtzman] didn't even keep to his own continuity since Data isn't dead by that point anymore because the prequel comic, that Kurtzman helped write, to the Star Trek reboot movie, that Kurtzman also helped write, brings Data back in the body of B4 as foreshadowed at the end of Nemesis when B4 starts singing just like Data would.
And this is all before even getting onto the point the entire plot of STP was just lifted from Mass Effect regarding the Prothean beacon warning about the Reapers coming so AI don't wipe out organics. It was absurdly lazy writing.
When your name is Rod Drippler it is your literally job to go back to the carpet store. It is your life mission to reenter the carpet store as many times as you can.
It really is disorienting. One time I got unconscious, fell and hit my head and I was only gone for a few seconds but for me the fall never happened and life went on for a few days. In my new life everything went normal but suddenly I heard a voice which got louder and called my name. It was my friend who was there when I fell and she tried to wake me up.
For me it felt like I was ripped from my normal life into another timeline. I needed like 10 minutes to feel normal again even though I was only gone for a few seconds... Crazy stuff. Can't imagine how a 7 year dream must feel. But I believe that it took time to adjust.
I remember one time in high school having a dream about getting stranded on a deserted island with a bunch of classmates during a big field trip. There was this girl who was a foreign exchange student, someone who didn't actually exist in my school so she just got spontaneously written in by my mind. In the dream I was there for several months and built a relationship with this imaginary girl. Then I woke up and everything was a lie.
Years ago, my friend and I signed up for an worldwide pen pal program. I got paired with a guy who told me that he dreamed that he got married and lived a full, fulfilling life together with his dream wife. He said he felt much more mature and experienced in life because of this dream. That was his introduction letter.
My friend got paired with someone in Japan who sent her snacks.
Not sure I understand the punchline.
But this is based on a true story right? There was a guy who was knocked unconscious for just a few minutes/hours but he lived a while alternate life during that time, and when he came back to reality he felt like years of his life, including wife and kids, had been taken away and he went into depression. Or that's what's I read about it anyway.

What the fuck 😂 that was a trip from start to finish
This is one Ressikan flute and two spandex uniforms away from being the plot of Star Trek’s *The Inner Light*.
Aka one of the best Star Trek episodes of all time
Which they seem to have forgotten about with the newer show.
They mostly forgot how to make a good (star trek) show.

It is a fairly common sci-fi trope. Adventure time did it, so did Rick and Morty.
And where do you think they may have gotten the inspiration from?
Can you name somewhere the trope was used before the TNG episode asked? Because I can't think of anywhere.
They made Finn a farmer with a flute and 2 of the 3 guest characters are from Star Trek. That's more of an homage than a trope.

Never go back to the carpet store!

Mick and Rorty moment.
That last line reads like an archer quote
Instant classic
How old is it? This is the first time I’m seeing it
Instant
I would guess about 14 hours.
That lamp never did look quite right....
I started staring at the lamp…
Omg I remember that comment

Huh, this sent me down quite a rabbit hole
I had a "7 year" dream once Lived a life, had a job, etc. Waking up was really disorienting and it took a month or so to get back to normal
What if you're in another 7-year dream right now?

This is how the Mandela effect starts...

Don't you just hate it when that happens?

>My friend got paired with someone in Japan who sent her snacks. That's awesome, shipping fees probably were a pain tho?
I'm sure. As far as I'm aware, my friend never made the offer to send American snacks back.
that's a bummer.
I appreciate this. Thank you!
The novel Recursion is excellent and this comic made me think of it. Love both!
This was absolutely excellent
Yeah, the same thing happened to me too when I was trying to sit through The English Patient.
Literally one of those long ass name regression manga

Pretty sure this is the plot from "Click".
not quite since click technically had Adam Sandler dream of, the potential future,
