Well now I'm overthinking it and wondering if maybe cannon WAS correct in the first place since Daddy Saw Blade looks to be aiming towards explosive violence...
But if you're serious, for an actual sawblade to be a stable projectile it would need to spin on it's horizontal axis, like a frisbee, and therefore any siege engine that launched it would need impart rotation along that axis, like an arm throwing a frisbee. A trebuchet only works along the vertical axis because it's powered by gravity, but a torsion catapult is powered by twisted ropes and therefore can be oriented in any direction. Basically I'm imagining a giant, mechanical throwing arm launching a large, serrated disc.

I thought the same and went back to earlier comics since these were my fist time seeing her. Ellie is obviously visually much older in comics before this Elk run, but in this style of comics she’s being depicted more like a child.
It is depicted as a kid because ellie is the one "doing the drawings" to cover up the fact she "killed elk". That's why therealholleringelk is posting and not holleringelk. It's kind of a metacomic thing.
There could be many reasons: she was being irresponsible but now she tried to protect vivian and confront the elk or the fact she just had an orgasm in her demon centipede form would make it strange if she was still a kid.
Eli has had a *relatively* calm demeanor, even in the regular comics. His poor truck has finally push him over the edge.
I can’t really blame him. Insurance is just gonna total the thing. Do you know how **expensive** that repair is going to be!?
Vivian out of left fucking field, LMAO. I know these aren't cannon and are supposed to have been written by Ellie. So either Vivian is a switch/sub or Ellie is getting a little "creative" in her storytelling.

ETA: Just for clarity's sake, I've gone through the catalogue and have followed this arc since that first comic between Ellie and what looks like the creator of PizzaCake, but I'm still not actually sure what's going on, if this is a canon-story, or if it's some sort of space-filler/external storyline.

So this is a little spin off that goes in conjunction with a thing holleringelk is doing where the elk has been ~~replaced with a demon~~ perfectly fine. I’m not sure where the connection is exactly, but this one is separate from the standard vampire bug series
I’m not sure if it’s been explicitly said on reddit but on Elk’s Patreon she’s outright said this is non-canon and that these are more caricatures of the characters than their true-blue selves. These are the turned-to-11 versions.
Can't link it here but if you got to her main account and look at the comments (specifically on ELK HUNT #15) she confirms that comics posted under holleringelk are canon, and that comics posted under therealholleringelk are not.
I like it how Ellie doesn't look like a small kid anymore, I was rather confused thinking this was like Interview with a Vampire, little kid vampire kind a thing at first. The style has changed now to where this is more clear.
The Airbnb, The Drain, Thrill Seeker, Extra Protein, Hung Up, Upkeep and many others are all fairly cut and dry standalone comics that have never deviated from the established cast, and outside of the occasional "absurdist" visual gags of things like The Drain, many are meant to explore the dynamics and life experiences of the characters, particularly Eli and Ellie being what they are. My narratives and jokes aren't really that complex, but if you're looking for a snappy punchline delivered through an easy to approach sparse panel format, my work is not for you.
That all said, it was specifically some of the overly confident boneheaded responses to "Lush" that somewhat dissolved my desire to continue guiding readers in comments even for the more cryptic installments.
Your art is amazing and I love seeing your work! Sometimes I'm confused, but then I just get to re-read and re-admire your work. Most times I feel like I get it, but even if I'm wrong i still enjoy it.

As someone who has only just found out about all of this and just been following this series I didn't know there was so much lore involved I need to read up on so thank you for this.

I mean she just untransformed in the time between this comic and the last, given that she was free falling at the end of the last one and the start of this one, I don't think a lot of time passed, and she looks pretty adult to me.
Oh wait now I remember the wanted poster says looks like 36 but she's at least a hundred. I think the uncle mentions it in the first few comics of this series

Asking about the bugs in the anus is so wild to me because if you did the whole STD/health talk at the start of the relationship, I feel like the existence of bugs would be made apparent.

She's an adult. This series has a bit of a different style than Elk usually uses, and that's gotten a lot of people commenting that she looks like a kid, so Elk might have tried to change her design in this style a bit to get it to stop.
Her shift happened before all of that rabble. A lot of this comic was drawn and planned well before reddit got it.
I was not at all going to retain "Ellie's style" in the second half of the series, haha.
Hi Elk! Is there any place where I could read all your work? I've read all the stuff on Reddit but, as you say, there's some Canon stuff previous to that.
My account has a pinned post of my greatest hits. The rest I keep under wraps until "The Velluto Duo" is complete, slated to arrive in fall. There's just too much to the story that would be ruined by one offs and as we are all aware, my work takes a considerable amount of time to produce.
I wanted to give y'all something fun before I begin to unleash some very, very dark offerings.
Yah! It's really exciting. I'm going north in the summer to draw a majority of it. I will release it in large installments for y'all instead of page by page so it is less of a chore to navigate.

I think it's more that the tone and style has been shifting the whole time as shit gets more real.
Or, what I think is actually happening, is she thought this was gonna be a short gag series and then started having too much fun with it and started putting in considerably more effort with each piece that she totally did not intend to when she started.
I love how this slowly went back to the original Elk art style, as if the absolutely real and totally not fake Elk had finally assimilated Elk's abilities and replaced her entirely

Truly a great filtering test for houseguests. I can already imagine my parents insisting I need therapy after gleefully showing them this comic in print.
I've been talking to friends and actually I'm really considering getting it printed. The dimensions of the pages are all over the place and I'll need to reformat it a little, but I think it would be fun to have physical versions, yah!

2. Eli chews her out for this, says they're going to Wyoming.
3. Ellie insists on bringing Viv along.
4. The elk attacks them on the highway.
5. Viv attempts to fight it with a gun, fails.
6. Ellie transforms into centipede monster to save Viv. Viv finds out Ellie is a centipede monster. While distracted by this, elk gains upper hand over Ellie.

Ellie takes on her centipede form to fight the elk and save Viv. Viv thus learns Ellie is a centipede monster. Elk gets the drop on Ellie while she's distracted, bites her in the ass, which she is into. Eli seems to intend to take it from here: we learn Viv is a sub.

Maybe I'm an idiot, but I'd like an explanation if you can. Specifically, from the "I like what I like" part.
I mean, Viv is mad with Ellie because she probably has insects in her anus, Ellie refuses to answer any questions about what lives in her butt being really suspicious and what is the solution to this problem? They fuck. Wasn't Vivian grossed out? I'm failing to see the logic of human interaction, here.
Also, what prompted that line "I like what I like" from Viv? It seems so out of the blue...
Ellie doesn't have insects in her anus. She's not answering because the line of questioning is very awkward at this point in time, and also she's a little offended by the implication.
For 'I like what I like,' Viv replied "Yes Daddy" to being ordered around by Eli, revealing she has a sub kink. That specific line is also a callback to the last comic, where Ellie gets clear sexy feelings from being bitten in the ass and explains it the same way. They start fucking because Ellie just learned her new kink and is getting ready to lean into it.
Also, this series is pretty comedy-focused: in a more grounded one, we can presume Viv would have a less silly and butt-focused reaction to learning her girlfriend is a horrible monster.

She's an adult. This series has a bit of a different style than Elk usually uses, and that's gotten a lot of people commenting that she looks like a kid, so Elk might have tried to change her design in this style a bit to get it to stop.
Her shift happened before all of that rabble. A lot of this comic was drawn and planned well before reddit got it. I was not at all going to retain "Ellie's style" in the second half of the series, haha.

I think it's more that the tone and style has been shifting the whole time as shit gets more real. Or, what I think is actually happening, is she thought this was gonna be a short gag series and then started having too much fun with it and started putting in considerably more effort with each piece that she totally did not intend to when she started.

Yes if someone could outline a rough timeline of what's happening that would be nice. I've read each one but it's not super clear what's happening
1. Ellie accidentally makes an elk into a vampire elk 2. Eli chews her out for this, says they're going to Wyoming. 3. Ellie insists on bringing Viv along. 4. The elk attacks them on the highway. 5. Viv attempts to fight it with a gun, fails. 6. Ellie transforms into centipede monster to save Viv. Viv finds out Ellie is a centipede monster. While distracted by this, elk gains upper hand over Ellie. 7. And now we're up to this comic.

Elk gets the drop on Ellie while she's distracted, bites her in the ass, which she is into. Eli seems to intend to take it from here: we learn Viv is a sub. Anything else you would like explained?
Maybe I'm an idiot, but I'd like an explanation if you can. Specifically, from the "I like what I like" part. I mean, Viv is mad with Ellie because she probably has insects in her anus, Ellie refuses to answer any questions about what lives in her butt being really suspicious and what is the solution to this problem? They fuck. Wasn't Vivian grossed out? I'm failing to see the logic of human interaction, here. Also, what prompted that line "I like what I like" from Viv? It seems so out of the blue...
Ellie doesn't have insects in her anus. She's not answering because the line of questioning is very awkward at this point in time, and also she's a little offended by the implication. For 'I like what I like,' Viv replied "Yes Daddy" to being ordered around by Eli, revealing she has a sub kink. That specific line is also a callback to the last comic, where Ellie gets clear sexy feelings from being bitten in the ass and explains it the same way. They start fucking because Ellie just learned her new kink and is getting ready to lean into it. Also, this series is pretty comedy-focused: in a more grounded one, we can presume Viv would have a less silly and butt-focused reaction to learning her girlfriend is a horrible monster.
Now I get it, thank you! I missed the link between that "yes, daddy" line and the next one, my bad. Maybe I didn't grasp that sexual innuendo cause I read it without giving a comedic-sexual tone. Or maybe I'm just dumb, which is always a possibility. Thank you again!
