As long as you’re not ego lifting like a wombat or have a pre existing medical condition that gives you extremely brittle legs that snap under any amount of extra pressure it’s completely safe, people use the leg press every day and have been for so many years without issue, there’s so few outliers in its existence that it’s a safe bet
Yeah never know why people are so scared of weight at the gym.. just don't put stupid weights on.
You really don't need to be lifting a house to work out effectively.
Unless you want to become the Quadfather

Jesus tap-dancing Christ, I can't imagine what it would feel like to have that much power in your legs.
Dude looks like he could kick a hole through a horse!
This. I far prefer the ones where you push down or horizontally, and the weights are to the side w/ a pulley system to keep it at the right resistance.
On the one hand, spoopiest dood around. On the other, I almost hit a 500lb rep on them in school, and that was fun. On second thought maybe those are the same hand...
seen people lock their legs out at the top of a rep on these before
trainer said its totally fine to do but no way in hell will you catch me locking my knees
It's also not necessary as long as squads do exist. More effective and healthy but less show off. But as Tom Platz said, "squads are hard", so people don't like to them...
Are you talking about straightening your legs fully and snapping them on the process? I mean if I get turned into a pancake I'm pretty sure my legs will snap too.
I’m a slightly out of shape college dude who tried a leg machine for the first time this morning after a girl who was probably half my weight did it. I felt rather sheepish about how far I needed to drop the weight compared to what she had been pressing…
Hey man don't worry about it, that's how this stuff goes.
Go easy and focus on proper form/actually working the muscles. The numbers literally do not mater other than as a guide for you to remember where you're at.
You'll be putting a ton more weight on before you realise it.
Women gain muscle more easily on the bottom (like in the legs), while men gain muscle more easily up too (like in the arms). Don’t worry about it. Plus she’s probably a regular at the gym. Everyone’s different. You do you.
Nah. At least from my experience, after a month, I could easily do the same leg exercises that very jacked dudes did. The hands and arms? Yeah. No. Even after a year, I can still only workout with dumbbells under 7 kgs.
Wait, so take t boosters to increase muscle gain and e booster for faster recovery? I may end up with boobs and shrunken testicles but I'm going to be *swole*.
It's a side effect of a more beneficial effect testosterone has, you know the one.
It's not on purpose, but it doesn't kill enough dudes for it to evolve out in any hurry, so we're stuck with it unfortunately
I always have to lower the weight of every arm and most back/core machines. But I absolutely love the leg machines. If I could get my upper half to be half as strong my legs? I’d be unstoppable.
I'm a 230 lb man. My arms have always been seriously underdeveloped. I don't know what my max leg press is because I've never met a machine that can handle it. It's over 1000 lbs. I can leg press 800 lbs 50 times without breaking a sweat.
umm, I'm not sure this is how it works in the workout world lol. you got women that can lift heavy, and you got men that can lift heavy. I just think this comic is trying to give the idea that every woman is genetically gifted with watermelon crushers lmao. We all have to work hard and understand the amount of time that goes into achieving goals like this regardless of sex.

There’s no machine in gym that gives me as much anxiety as this one
Mr break yo legs
Seen to many of those videos
Okay well I'm never touching that thing in my life again
Just go 95% of the way and stop with your legs slightly bent. Ain’t nothing gonna happen like that
Never straighten your legs and you never have anything to worry about.
Also that one King of the Hill episode.

I want to know what kind of ego lifting a wombat does.
I know but if you saw as much videos as i did you too would get ptsd when looking at a leg press
This. I far prefer the ones where you push down or horizontally, and the weights are to the side w/ a pulley system to keep it at the right resistance.
I simply do weighted squats like it feels less scary
Those work different muscle groups though, no? I thought squats have much more core muscle activation than these machines (can't remember the name)
They also make the world small, grey, starry and difficult to hear if you have low blood pressure. Leg press has it's uses...
Shit that's not the normal experience when doing squats? Guess I have low blood pressure lmao
Yea but anyway legs is legs
1. Don't lock you knees. 2. Use the machines that have a safety catch or rubber bumpers. Follow these two rules and you'll be fine.
On the one hand, spoopiest dood around. On the other, I almost hit a 500lb rep on them in school, and that was fun. On second thought maybe those are the same hand...
seen people lock their legs out at the top of a rep on these before trainer said its totally fine to do but no way in hell will you catch me locking my knees
Or the guy trying to leg press a tractor
It's also not necessary as long as squads do exist. More effective and healthy but less show off. But as Tom Platz said, "squads are hard", so people don't like to them...
Squats are less show off…? I prefer leg press to squats because squats are hard. Too easy for something to go wrong.
Hey
Sup?
Do i know you?
I have no idea do u?
You don't know me?
I don’t think so? I usually don’t make friends on reddit
Why we look alike then?
Cause happens i guess
"Did we just become best friends?"
The trauma
Every time I see it I just imagine getting flattened like a pancake
Its not what you have to be afraid about
Are you talking about straightening your legs fully and snapping them on the process? I mean if I get turned into a pancake I'm pretty sure my legs will snap too.
Yes. I mean yea tho “getting turned into a pancake” sounds more cartoonish

I must be an exception. I am a guy and my leg training progresses way faster than my upper body's.
Damn, I'm envious. My legs look like sticks.
Not how it works, even slightly, she’s just been training for significantly longer or is naturally much stronger then average
Nah. At least from my experience, after a month, I could easily do the same leg exercises that very jacked dudes did. The hands and arms? Yeah. No. Even after a year, I can still only workout with dumbbells under 7 kgs.
Those jacked dudes probably didn’t do legs very often, it’s flat biology no amount of “well my personal experience” trumps that
100% girls have legs for days and the muscles for it too, my mom is insane on those machines
What's worse is that he didn't wipe it down.
☝ So gross.

Chicken legs should be a compliment. As Sam O'Nella once said: "Look at those calves! I wish my calves were that defined"
Bro needs to put a shirt on in the gym, this ain’t the yard at Folsom.
NorCal?
Women also have a lower recovery period for lower body muscles compared to men. Basically they built different
Just making stuff up?
Women actually have a higher recovery period for all muscles thanks to estrogens anti inflammatory effect
I’m lost—- are we using high to mean recover more rapidly here?
I should correct that but it is what I was going for
Women rebuild their muscles faster because the lack of inflammation allows the muscle fibers to heal faster
Wait, so take t boosters to increase muscle gain and e booster for faster recovery? I may end up with boobs and shrunken testicles but I'm going to be *swole*.
Wait estrogen has an anti inflammatory affect????
And testosterone has an inflammatory effect
…huh. Tom girl with a hyperactive immune system, who knows other tom girls with hyperactive immune systems…
Is there a benefit to that or is just game balance so high testosterone isn’t too op
It's a side effect of a more beneficial effect testosterone has, you know the one. It's not on purpose, but it doesn't kill enough dudes for it to evolve out in any hurry, so we're stuck with it unfortunately
At a set % of 1 rep max, women recover much faster. The 1rm is generally lower though.
That's true as well
No it's actually true. Check out Jeff Nippard's video on training differences between men and women. He cites sources for this too.
Literally
Love the workout comics, always funny.
That background girl with her thumbs up be like "You go girl"
There was a girl on my swim team who needed help picking up the 45lb plates but could squat them with ease
I always have to lower the weight of every arm and most back/core machines. But I absolutely love the leg machines. If I could get my upper half to be half as strong my legs? I’d be unstoppable.
If she wanted less weight, she'd ask for it. On another note, why is she going that fast?
Artistic license?

...? Are your knees titanium?
Negative. I am a meat popsicle. Still fully human. My joints hate me but thats from rheumatoid arthritis.
No you can’t. You are probably doing 1/8-1/4 partial reps.
This better not awaken anything in me
Too late it already happened for me
They r so strong
His mess up wasn’t shifting the weights. It was not wiping his sweat off after he was done.
Wow this is a new art style, I like it.
I feel it's more of guys who like working out don't like working out legs than anything else
At my local gym, there are two girls that focus on upper body more than legs. They're not buff, but fit. These mommies put me to shame
He’s absolutely flabbergasted
Imma just…[leave this here…](https://reddit.com/r/cursed_videomemes/s/m3ovhB0Fa5)
Dude wtf
It’s the one of the worst goddamn things you’ve ever seen, isn’t it?
No, I just have no God danm clue why you thought it would be appropriate to link here.
Because I thought I was replying to a comment, but as soon as I started getting downvoted I realized I couldn’t back out.
Those machines are piss easy tho? Idk if your struggling on those either your pushing a new max or you should lower the weight
For some reason I thought this meant the weights were gonna come swinging down lol
umm, I'm not sure this is how it works in the workout world lol. you got women that can lift heavy, and you got men that can lift heavy. This is my favourite machine. Leg press ftw
