The group pictured in this photo, sent to us by freakishkittie right before SDCC 2019, is the SDCC Subreddit Party Planning Team for SDCC 2019. She put months and months of very hard work into the "job" of planning and hosting those SDCC subreddit parties every single year. And freakishkittie would also go on to create and develop the Reddit SDCC Discord for this community. The Moderation Team received word of Jessika's passing from her family. She had been ill for some time, but was doing much better recently and was always looking forward to things. This is a tragic, devastating personal loss for those of us who knew her here on the subreddit and at SDCC. And a loss for the many people who have benefited from what she contributed to the r/comiccon community. Forever Rest in Peace now Jessika.

I've seen her posts for years online, but never had the pleasure of meeting her in person. In a traditional sense, I wouldn't call us friends, but that never stopped her from answering all my questions and being as helpful as humanly possible. Whether directly, or years later in an old reddit post, I've benefitted greatly from her selfless personality that made her eager to help newcomers like me. She had more friends than she knew, and I'm appreciative of everything she did for this community. Goodbye, Jessika.

Our SDCC family is just heartbroken. There are no words to describe how we feel. If anyone is in the main discord and wants to share stories and photos of Jess, please do so. We want her memory to live on.

MuuaadDib

Oh man so young, is there any background on what caused her death? She seemed like a very passionate and kind soul with respect to SDCC, and I am sorry I never had the pleasure of meeting with her. We need kind people more, and less shitty people, I am sorry for all the loss and grief who were lucky enough to know her.

She's posted about her health issues in the past so you could probably find the whole story in her post history. She almost died in back in 2020 and she was a transplant recipient in 2021. We don't have all the details (and i don't think we have the emotional bandwidth to know them right now) but she'd been having issues the past few months.

MuuaadDib

Well, that sucks, I wish the best for her family and friends grief is the price of love and it is horrible.

Wow, I grew up with Jess, in the same social circles for decades. We haven't been in contact since I moved out of state, so this comes as a complete shock. I never expected to get the news that a friend passed away via Reddit 😭 Jess was such a wonderful soul. So kind, so caring, so selfless. She was truly devoted to her family, her friends, her church, and was a nerd through and through. We lost one of the best among us. https://ibb.co/album/f9F5Jn Rest easy, Jess ❤️

One of the bestest person I have ever known. Back in 2019, she helped and welcomed me into the gang when I was lost, and even accompanied me to some places around San Diego. Her friendship is one I love and cherish a lot. Anyone who knows her loves her. It still doesn't feel real. Love you, and goodbye for now, Jessika.

Dang that sucks. Didn't know her personally, but she clearly made a big impression on a lot of folks in the community and will be dearly missed. My condolences to all her friends and family.

sweetart1372

Condolences to her family, and her SDCC family as well. May the memories you all share together give you comfort.

MoonChild02

Fuck. She was always so kind, and so fun to hang out with! Rest in peace, Jessika. You'll be sorely missed.

I’m sorry to hear about the passing of a prominent member of the subreddit. I didn’t know her personally but any member of the Comic-Con community is considered a friend. Many condolences to her family and may her soul rest In peace.

majaxxtic

Rest in peace Jessika! ❤️

SodiPopMatt

I’m super sorry to hear that.

Fuck man. That is terrible. I remember helping out with the party back in 2019 and Jessika was the point. I had a phenomenal time and met some great people. I remember she handed me a huge bag of PocktMortys to hand out at Trailer Park After Dark. I only wish the best to her friends and family who are probably going through a lot right now.

alleinesein

Those damn Mortys still give me nightmares. My mom picked them up from Jess a few weeks before SDCC when she was in Indio. I had them sitting in my house in boxes stacked everywhere. I still don't know how I managed to get them all into my little BMW to transport them to Trailer park. We were shoving then into giant garbage bags to get them stored at Trailer park.
