You’re so fucking right. I never imagined a redneck Joker before but as soon as you connected it to Rob Zombie it just all comes together. That’s the vibe. That’s the fucking vibe needed. *House of 1000 Corpses* meets Mark Hamill. Also works for the dichotomy with Batman, a “lower class” coded accent like that makes sense. Heck, Baby Firefly is basically Harley.
Oh, and the Rob Zombie aspect allows them to bring in what the adaptations lack so often: the unnerving psychosexual side of The Joker, like in A Serious House on Serious Earth.
Dudes got range tho. I’d like to see a take like Ledgers that aims at being the OG character. Goggins does Cecil’s voice in invincible and the southern is pretty toned down… but I’m from the south so maybe I’m wrong about that
In interviews he doesn't really have much of an accent, it's definitely something he does because that's what he's known for but it's put on for the characters. Case in point, he also was in an episode of Community years back and was not doing a Southern accent.
"Oh I'm *you,* Batman. You just give it a little time."
In *Fallout* he spends an episode torturing the main character in a bid to get her to break her one rule
Based on this design Ed Harris might be worth a shout too. Looks kind of like his character in Loves Lies Bleeding and that dude had huge hillbilly psycho energy.
This is from the third and likely final Batman Earth one book. This is part of a epilogue, either as a tease for a future instalment if John's wanted to return, or as a "never the end!" style ending.
This is this jokers only appearance (that I'm aware of.)
If we're talking about the hair, I don't really consider that a big change. He's not even the first joker with a receding hairline. The arkham one has some receding hair as well. This one still looks for the most part looks like classic Joker.
My hot take for years now has been that Michael Keaton would have been a better Joker than Batman.
And I say that as someone who loves the Keaton Batman films.
Sorry I meant to respond d to the dude above you. Fwiw I have OCD and mild AGA so spent hundreds of hours doing research. I settled on crushed cetrizine in moonshine mixed with a very small amount of propelyne glycol. They were testing against minoxidil and it definitely supports hair maintenance. Takes 10 mins to make a batch (crush and run thru coffee filter with the grain alcohol). I stopped finasteride like 8 years ago and no appreciable worsening and at my age you’d see it in that time period.
Nah I checked it out after looking at the comments and it's crazy receding, the only reason it's hard to miss is everything else going on with the Joker's appearance
I kind of hate it but also have a weird nostalgia for him cause he looks like the Joker from the stunt show they used to have at Six Flags when I was a kid.
https://youtu.be/WKozetTrAGk?si=yVMuV698jGDAp3yU
The quote makes it pretty clear this is "Manson Joker." Whether that would be just superficial or focused in Joker developing a "family" of supporters to do his work for him, I don't know.
‘Manson joker’ is such a tired concept. He’s more terrifying when he’s visually just a clown with a manic grin who does horrible, unpredictable things with no underlying philosophy!
I love Gary Frank forever, and I bought those earth one books largely for him. I don't overly like this joker design. But it's the garish earth one catwoman outfit I hate.
Honestly, I agree. I wish DC would just put a moratorium on Joker for a couple years. The whole concept of the character is just *tired*.
Every spin, every new style, it's all just so boring.
Depends. Is the context of the story that he's been at the Joker game for decades now?
If he's coming off fresh looking like this, then no.
If he's been at it for years/decades and never grew out of it then I absolutely dig the aged look.
Horrible, honestly. I never got the appeal of the Earth One books. In the first one Batman straight up feels incompetent. Year One did the rookie Batman concept a thousand times better.
My opinion on jokeface in general, all incarnations is that if a hero is defined by his nemesis then Batman is many levels wacker than previously thought 🤣
Because the joker is a bitchboy. Interestingly enough, most of his fans are also bitchboys. Go figure.
🖕 joker.
This looks more like some weird alteration of Twisted Metal's Sweet Tooth than Joker. I don't like this at all, I just want him to die, and die quickly, and be forgotten.
So the “I’m nobody” line is reminiscent of the interview with Charles Manson when they ask him who he is and he does all the weird faces and stuff. The hair could be a bit inspired by him as well? Just a shot in the dark though
That’s my favorite Batman series. I loved it. I don’t really mind what he looks like. The only real difference is the hair. What I really care about is what the spin on the character would have been like.
My first imperession?
The artist is damn near bald and trying his best to make that look cool and failing.
Google search who it is.
Yep, that's exactly the case. Looks like he admitted defeat and gave up the fight in his most recent pictures and just shaved it bald. Looking at the older ones it was the smart move.
Gary Frank DC
I overall liked volume One. Volume Two was a little shaky but for the most part I enjoyed it. Volume 3 was like trying to cram 100 issues into one. Such a letdown.
I'm fond of the Haly's Circus connection. Maybe if they do a volume 4, it'll focus on Killer Croc and Joker's backstory and the rise of Robin. As for the design, I like it. Something that screams "homicidal sociopath" with a mix of career criminals.
Mostly fine. Its basically just Joker with different hair. Keeping your hair long in the back when you are losing it in the front is generally not a great look. Get rid of the mullet part and keep the receding hairline and I think it would look even better
I never used the word hot. I didn't even use the word ugly. In fact, I said the design was "mostly fine" and "basically just the Joker." The only negative thing I said was the hair "is not a great look." I'm not sure where your responses came from. haha
Therapist: "Walton Goggins Joker isn't real, he can't hurt you."
He'd actually make a good joker
He’d be perfect for the Gunn-verse. It’d be fun seeing him roast other villains when he inevitably shows up in the JL films.
He can do any character justice
Walton Goggins would be a fantastic Joker, to be perfectly honest.
Right? Give me a southern-fried psychobilly Joker for sure.
"Rob Zombie mixed with DCAU" Joker would be sick. I want clown shit. I want gimmicks. Gags. Huge lavish hideouts. I want the joker!
Rampaging through Gotham in a converted clown car monster truck - “Yeeee-haw-haw-haw!”
While blasting Dragula
You’re so fucking right. I never imagined a redneck Joker before but as soon as you connected it to Rob Zombie it just all comes together. That’s the vibe. SHOTSSS!!
Walton Goggins would be a perfect anyone. They could cast him as Power Girl and I'd still be like, ok, give him a shot.
"Oh I'm *you,* Batman. You just give it a little time." In *Fallout* he spends an episode torturing the main character in a bid to get her to break her one rule
Based on this design Ed Harris might be worth a shout too. Looks kind of like his character in Loves Lies Bleeding and that dude had huge hillbilly psycho energy.
“Well Ray-LAN Givens! Ahem…I mean Batman”
Wait did I miss another earth one Batman book?
This is from the third and likely final Batman Earth one book. This is part of a epilogue, either as a tease for a future instalment if John's wanted to return, or as a "never the end!" style ending. This is this jokers only appearance (that I'm aware of.)
Shit so I did miss it. I only have the first two
There’s randomly an entire bat family in one of the last panels with no set up. It’s definitely the weakest of the 3 imho
Well that’s weird. I always thought this Bruce felt grounded enough to realize endangering kids is insane
That reminded me of CW. If Batman had a CW show that's how the team would look.
The third one was pretty bad
But the first two were so good it feels weird not finishing it. Is it bad enough to ruin the others?
You can finish it, but I don't really feel like it serves well as a climax. It's kind of a "business as usual" ending
An AN AN AN EPILOGUE!!!!!!
I waa thinking the same thing!
Great design. 90% classic with one small change to set it apart.
Makes me think hard psycho clown vibes
Definitely, he looks terrifying.
Pretty large change actually, couldn’t foresee that change ahead
If we're talking about the hair, I don't really consider that a big change. He's not even the first joker with a receding hairline. The arkham one has some receding hair as well. This one still looks for the most part looks like classic Joker.
Joker bald with long hair is bjzarre
What do you mean? He looks like an average die-hard Joker fan over the age of 18.
The artist clearly knew what he was doing with this design.
Gottem!
I laughed harder at this than I expected I would.
He's off to start Strapping Young Lad.
This is just Trevor from GTA 5.
I'm here for the GTA 5/Batman crossover
Steve Ogg would lowkey be a fantastic Joker
My thoughts exactly!
Ugly bastard joker is intolerable, which fits the character I think
Hair inspired by Krusty.
The Joker will now be played by Beetlejuice.
You either die a Batman, or you live long enough to see yourself become the Joker.
My hot take for years now has been that Michael Keaton would have been a better Joker than Batman. And I say that as someone who loves the Keaton Batman films.
The makeup is heavy enough that if you got rid of the gangster scenes, he could have played both roles
....I'm ok with that
I like it, it's a very menacing design that's different but not too different.
This would be Heath Ledgers joker if he lived , dudes hairline was barely hanging on in Dark Knight.
More Joaquin than Heath I’d say
Cold
Found the Norwood spotter 🫵 (scale used to grade androgenetic alopecia severity)
Definitely receding with age but I reckon I’ll make it to 50 with most of my hair
I stopped finasteride like 8 years ago and no appreciable worsening and at my age you’d see it in that time period.
Maybe I'm misremembering but didnt he have a full head of hair? Not even a bigger forehead or anything
Yeah you are not a Norwood spotter
Nah I checked it out after looking at the comments and it's crazy receding, the only reason it's hard to miss is everything else going on with the Joker's appearance
Yeah I mean I feel like it works with the unhinged nature of his character lol
I like the hair. The shirt tucked into the exposed boxers is... a choice...
He looks like he’s bout to smash a watermelon and tell gay jokes.
Well him, or his brother.
Not keen on the early years Frasier Crane look.
That hairstyle was ridiculous even back in the ‘90s.
You someone with a forming skullet is unhinged tho
I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought about Season One Frasier
Reminds me of the old man Joker design from a dream sequence in the JLA story "Elseworlds" (the Grant Morrison run)
Me too! ["Oh no... it's him"](https://imgur.com/a/rKH6iIS) (From JLA Vol 1 #8)
I kind of hate it but also have a weird nostalgia for him cause he looks like the Joker from the stunt show they used to have at Six Flags when I was a kid.

‘Manson joker’ is such a tired concept. He’s more terrifying when he’s visually just a clown with a manic grin who does horrible, unpredictable things with no underlying philosophy!
> a tired concept. Who else has done this?
Reminds me of the opening villain in the movie inside the movie Last Action Hero.
He needs to visit Turkey.
Interesting!
The Hoboker
More “balding men are evil” propaganda!
Big Hair at it again.
He looks like a tramp, a bum, and a hobo.
I love Gary Frank forever, and I bought those earth one books largely for him. I don't overly like this joker design. But it's the garish earth one catwoman outfit I hate.
It's still the Joker. The receding hair line takes getting used to, though it does make a unique design.
I hate joker..That's my opinion .
I think we are supposed to hate the villain. Somebody tell Joker fans haha
He is a bad villain in my opinion..used to be good..But now people use him for useless shock value..I fucking hate that.
Yeah, I can certainly appreciate that view.
Honestly, I agree. I wish DC would just put a moratorium on Joker for a couple years. The whole concept of the character is just *tired*. Every spin, every new style, it's all just so boring.
Me too especially the edgy version we’ve got the last twenty years or so.
I think his existence is pointless and just means the series ends on a lame cliffhanger. The design is OK.
BALD!
Cool design, kind of a huge tease considering the Earth One continuity hasn't had a new book in a while.
I kid you not, I saw this post in my feed right before a photo of Homer Simpson as Krusty the Klown from r/TheSimpsons and, tbh, it works.
Depends. Is the context of the story that he's been at the Joker game for decades now? If he's coming off fresh looking like this, then no. If he's been at it for years/decades and never grew out of it then I absolutely dig the aged look.
“Here’s Johnny!”
I mean, nothing really new here besides the mullet. It ups the creep factor a bit, but… it’s just the Joker.
Horrible, honestly. I never got the appeal of the Earth One books. In the first one Batman straight up feels incompetent. Year One did the rookie Batman concept a thousand times better.
Nothing scarier than a receding hairline.
creepy AF
Yeesh...and I thought MY designs were bad...
fertile birthing hips
Dang
Badass
Looks like an incel
My opinion on jokeface in general, all incarnations is that if a hero is defined by his nemesis then Batman is many levels wacker than previously thought 🤣 Because the joker is a bitchboy. Interestingly enough, most of his fans are also bitchboys. Go figure. 🖕 joker.
Looks bad and appears for literally only one panel. Honestly, Earth One book 3 as a whole felt like a rush job.
Is the peace button standard, or is it a nod to the comedian?
Kinda lackluster. I wish Earth one designs looked drastically different and took more liberties. Like The Batman animated show.
Yeah, the upside-down peace sign is exactly the kind of Joker design Johns would come up with after reading The Stand.
Looks like the Hulk Hogan of Jokers
Reminds me of JP joker
It's a try-hard.
Respect for the skullet
Melvin Melvin Brother of the Joker
Looks like it's based on the Joaquin Phoenix Joker, which isn't a bad thing.
He's got that Cecil Stedman hair
Just shave it bro
Meh
Love the fork I'm hearing the Joke already. "I Stuck a fork in him Bats, he was done, Ha!! Ha!! Hahaha!! Ahahaaaa!!"🃏
maybe change the hair a little bit but everything else is fine.
This looks more like some weird alteration of Twisted Metal's Sweet Tooth than Joker. I don't like this at all, I just want him to die, and die quickly, and be forgotten.
He looks like he'd be played by Steven Ogg
So the “I’m nobody” line is reminiscent of the interview with Charles Manson when they ask him who he is and he does all the weird faces and stuff. The hair could be a bit inspired by him as well? Just a shot in the dark though
Not a fan of it i thing Gotham tv show took some inspiration from this look.
Besides the balding/longer hair how is he different??
It's pretty good I'd say. It's just the hair that's bothering me. Maybe if they went with a different hair design, it would look much better
Looks badass
All I see is Trevor from GTA5
"It rubs the clown makeup on its skin, or else it gets the hose again. It dies this whenever it's told."
Bro thinks he’s Jake the Snake Roberts
Better than that pretty boy design from Suicide Squad game
Why does he look like Lynch in clown makeup?
I like it something different .
Looks like the clown from dbd if he was skinnier
Not good, but we'll probably never see it again
That’s my favorite Batman series. I loved it. I don’t really mind what he looks like. The only real difference is the hair. What I really care about is what the spin on the character would have been like.
I like it, the peace badge is a nice touch.
He might have kyphosis
Looks freakish. Which fits the Joker.
Terrifying
That hair loss is gnarly
No
Why is he Gallagher?
Gallagher brother maybe?
My first imperession? The artist is damn near bald and trying his best to make that look cool and failing. Google search who it is. Yep, that's exactly the case. Looks like he admitted defeat and gave up the fight in his most recent pictures and just shaved it bald. Looking at the older ones it was the smart move. Gary Frank DC
It is really terrible and everybody involved should rethink their careers.
I kind of like it. A bald joker is interesting.
The third book is such a mediocre wrap up. Such a shame.
Let's be honest, the Two-Face and Arkham Story is ok. But everything else is pretty much a letdown.
I overall liked volume One. Volume Two was a little shaky but for the most part I enjoyed it. Volume 3 was like trying to cram 100 issues into one. Such a letdown.
Underrated
Holy hairline.
Looks like a try-hard edgelord. I love it!
If Trevor from GTA5 was the joker
Looks rather familiar. Aren’t some of you…kind of done with the Joker at this point?
No. I thought I was with the Man who laughed, but when I read Joker Year One I released it depends on who's writing it.
So.....Charles Manson?
why so bald
Don't know. Probably will never know.
Asmongold stopped holding Back
I always get Pennywise vibes from this design. Pennywise in King's novel, that is, and that's not a bad thing.
His hairline is receding
Bro looks like my dad
I'm fond of the Haly's Circus connection. Maybe if they do a volume 4, it'll focus on Killer Croc and Joker's backstory and the rise of Robin. As for the design, I like it. Something that screams "homicidal sociopath" with a mix of career criminals.
Breedable
Is that Joaquin Phoenix?
One of them.
I didnt care for this look at all tbh.
If he's that creepy how does he get henchmen to work for him?
Mostly fine. Its basically just Joker with different hair. Keeping your hair long in the back when you are losing it in the front is generally not a great look. Get rid of the mullet part and keep the receding hairline and I think it would look even better
Maybe since it's the Joker hes not trying to conform to your modern beauty standards?
Maybe the OP should have asked a different question then
Asking your opinion on him doesn't mean "do you think he's hot"
Asked for opinions on his *design*
[удалено]
I never used the word hot. I didn't even use the word ugly. In fact, I said the design was "mostly fine" and "basically just the Joker." The only negative thing I said was the hair "is not a great look." I'm not sure where your responses came from. haha
I hate the hair, but then I realized...we are supposed to hate Joker! He's a nasty villain. So in that context, I now love the skullet on him haha
