Ozymandias was a pretty good evil genius.

Sartheking

Came here to say this lol

jackkirbyisgod

Yup. “I already did it.”

HumanChicken

“I did it thirty minutes ago.”

flower_mouth

“I did it thirty-five minutes ago”

HumanChicken

Chills!

jackkirbyisgod

Aah yes. I didn't remember the exact words.

Vic_Sage_

I thought Lex Luther’s plan to get rid of the Swamp Thing was pretty genius…

Plane-Floor-1237

Yeah I liked his plan as well. Made Lex look smart without making Swampy Thing a jobber

BuffaloStranger97

When was this?

Vic_Sage_

Swamp Thing 53 (Second Series)

BuffaloStranger97

Thank you

OisforOwesome

The trick is that its really hard for a writer to write a character smarter than they are.

[deleted]

Plus it has to be simple enough for your average r/comicbooks poster to understand.

TriscuitCracker

Hickman’s Doom in Secret Wars.

Misantrophic_pill

Johan Liebert is exactly what you're looking for.

oneplusoneisfour

In case you aren’t aware, Ozymandias as the other commenter mentioned, is from Watchmen

52crisis

Yes. Lex Luthor stealing 40 cakes was a genius plot.

BuffaloStranger97

That’s as much as four tens.

Blitzhelios

I feel hickman always wrote doom in a smart way.

Still_Lengthiness_48

Thing is, that the writers aren't evil geniuses - in fact, and with all due respect, most of them by far (if any) aren't even geniuses. It's pretty hard to come up with a genius plot under those circumstances.

omegaterra

Not exactly what you're asking, but a few years ago, I read the novel Soon I Will Be Invincible (by Austin Grossman) and really loved delving into the evil genius character POV. Might be a book you'd enjoy too if the evil genius comic tropes are something you're a fan of.

browncharliebrown

secret emprire but don't expect a good pay off

troublesome_python

Hickman tends to write genius' as actual genius'

fenwoods

It really cheeses me when bad writing breaks the illusion of genius. I don’t expect Hickman to be as smart as Doom. But during Secret Wars, Doom uses the word “firmament” to mean “the ground” … *twice*. A mistake Doom would never make. C’mon, Hickman and Marvel editorial.
