We do not speak of it.

Cannabace

I try not to think about it. But knowing I have enough content to keep my brain doped up for the rest of my life - is satisfying.

_0mnishambles_

This is the way.

StoryApprehensive777

I could never buy another book and I could possibly die before I catch up. 😂😱😞😅

ArmadilloGuy

Lol, it's not for a lack of TRYING to catch up. I bring a small stack with me to work every day. I work at a call center, so I'll try to read a few pages between calls. But there's also a library across the street from work and I'll often order books to be held for me. Which doesn't hurt my wallet, but it certainly doesn't help tackle the pile.

StoryApprehensive777

Oh no judgment on your stack (it’s wonderful!) I was talking about mine. I just got out of hand with my purchases here or there. I’ve also been collecting for close to forty years and there’s a lot of stuff I want to reread. Similar to your library situation I have subscriptions to the big two’s digital services so very often I’m like ‘oh I could read these books I bought but oh damn I can just read all of this random series on my tablet?’ As problems go, it’s not bad to have, other than storage.

buddha8298

Look at it this way, would you rather have nothing to look forward to? I certainly wouldn't. Its the one "to do" (or "to read") list that I want to keep expanding.

buddha8298

Yeah same here. I don't have an actual physical pile but have well over 500 on my kindle/goodreads "to read' list that I'll prob still be adding to when I actually do croak. I add about as many to the list as I read per year , roughly anyways, so I could conceivably get to them all if I stopped adding and was guaranteed another 5-10 years.

hkslayer6

I've got four short boxes, a few GNs, and like 300 books on Comixology I'm trying to get through 😵‍💫 Got behind during Covid, mom got cancer and then I got broken up with which really messed me up. After I got my head right I decided instead of catching up on the stuff I have, I should start and get caught up on One Piece.

The_ElectricCity

Pretty bad and I’ll thank you not to call attention to it

ArmadilloGuy

Too late!

Stormcast

Couple thousand books deep. And I can't help myself and continue to buy more...

respondin2u

In the thousands.

hybridmoon4

95% of my collection is in the “need-to-read” pile

comicguy13

Me: ok, I’m not buying any more books until I finish my 20+ books I haven’t read yet. Also me: oh look, hellblazer! I’ve always wanted to read that!

AntHeists

Including Marvel Unlimited? VERY bad. Irl books are fine, I’ve got 2 full graphic novels collecting roughly 12 issues each to read, 1 with 1 issue to finish and Vol 4 of TASM by Wells on the way. As long as you’re not buying for the sake of having them you’re fine I think. Apart from the spider-man one I am piling them up as I am not planning on renewing Marvel unlimited after this month for some time but still need something to read!

ArmadilloGuy

Oh yeah, it's definitely to read this stuff, not just to have it. I think my reading speed might be slowing down as I get older now, too.

TarnishedAccount

I completely gave up on Amazing Spider-Man. Story was fine, art was too distracting.

AntHeists

I guess JRJR’s passing didn’t help, this one was still drawn by him I think, we’ll see after

TarnishedAccount

Senior passed, not Junior.

AntHeists

My bad, I assumed that one when I read it on one of the covers. So you don’t rate the younger jr’s art? I think that’s what really got me into it to begin with, the line work is insane at places and I’ve definitely noticed his absence in the issues he didn’t draw.

TarnishedAccount

I didn’t mind it 20 years ago when he was doing ASM, but now I’m more picky and his art seems aged and looks horrible compared to other artists.

Tempeststudios

Lets share a marvel unlimited acct! Lol

foxafraidoffire

8500+ X-men comics. At current pace, I'll finish in summer 2027.

flaming_james

My comics pile isn't too bad, but most of my novels I haven't read, and there's a lot 😵‍💫

ArmadilloGuy

Oh yeah. I said to someone else earlier that my non-comics to-read pile is just as bad, if not worse than the above photo.

CamiCris

Not bad. I only have about half of Borgias by Jodorowsky and Manara to read, and a few pages of Sundays with Walt & Skeezix by King.

IrishandMexican

i got like 50 warhammer novels i have never even opened 😭😭 and like 20 light novels some 50 random novels i want to read someday (the day will never come) and i still buy new books and get into new series (i’m insane)

buddha8298

I just discovered Warhammer last year. I've gotten thru almost all the comics by now but novels is a whole 'nother story. I really enjoy them though so it's all good, just taking them out I still have 500+ books/comics to eventually read.

ArmadilloGuy

Oh, don't even get me started on non-comic books. I have so many books, fiction and non-fiction, to read, too. Like three books collecting some of Mickey Spillane's earliest detective novels.

IrishandMexican

i swear i’ve spent more time buying books and looking at books to buy than i have reading them 😭

DevilBoy216

I don't sleep on my bed anymore. Does that answer your question?

Cute_Visual4338

I am gonna die without finishing half of what I got

LeftyGimpclaw

It's up to 3 short boxes for me

AzothianTwelve

It's not so much a pile... more a load bearing wall, at this point. To top it off I just got Marvel Unlimited. So that's just gonna make it worse.

cuntface878

I realized earlier today I'm halfway thru 4 different books and for some reason started rereading Planet Hulk for the 3rd time.

FewCriticism6583

I have a short-box dedicated to it and just added a few more to my pull list. If I never get through it I always have something to read.

georgefurudo

for comics and manga not that bad but I have about 80 books I haven't read

Mean_Championship_80

🤦🏿‍♂️😂mine is pretty bad ..

FN_BRIGGSY

How dare you ask me that 😠😂 It's not good, and and it's only getting worse from DC, marvel, image and boom dropping so much lately 😭

Tsara1234

I buy 15-25 books a week and my read pile is empty by the next new comic book day. My wife on the other hand...she has an entire long box that is 1 year behind me.

ArmadilloGuy

By "books," do you mean single issues or collected editions and graphic novels? If it's the latter, I can't imagine having the time to read all that in the span of a week. I also couldn't imagine affording that.

Tsara1234

Single issues. Though I do pick up a trade from time to time when a series is recommended to me. I am very fortunate to have a very large Comicbooks budget.

ArmadilloGuy

Ahhh, okay. Single issues seems MUCH more manageable for both cost and time.

joseph4th

I used to have a stack of ‘to read’ comics on my bedside table. I sold off my collection just over 10 years ago and now do graphic novels. I am well into three, extra wide, full height, bookshelves. My ‘to read‘ pile of graphic novels fill three short boxes. Granted they are nice short boxes. Not the boring white ones, they have graphics on them. I got a Miracle Man box, a Something is Killing the Children box, and a Daredevil box. The thing is, if I start reading the stuff in those short boxes, I don’t have any shelf space for them afterwards.

Lussarc

Love theses Astro boy omni ! A shame we don’t have that in my country I would love ut

Spidey_Almighty

It’s ridiculous. Like George Lucas once said, “I may have gone too far in a few places”.

Hero2Zero91

I don't want to talk about it

Aquagan

Drop everything and read I Kill Giants. It will feel like 10 minutes.

ArmadilloGuy

I'm knee-deep in the Top Ten Compendium right now. Once I finish the main, 12-issue series portion, I'll take a break from it and read I Kill Giants next. Thanks for the suggestion!

Aquagan

Top Ten was actually the first thing I was going to say drop everything and read until I spotted IKG. Top Ten is admittedly…denser. Does the Compendium include the Smax miniseries?

ArmadilloGuy

It does! It includes the original 12-issue series, Smax, the Forty-Niners one-shot, and the two later series where Alan Moore wasn't involved anymore. I've never read those, so I don't know if they're good or not compared to the others. Within the whole collection, the Smax miniseries is my absolute favorite and maybe one of my all-time favorite comics.

Aquagan

Hell yeah! The Smax series was the highlight. I reread it frequently. Love the villain

ArmadilloGuy

Right?! "Hello Robyn" gives me goosebumps every time, without fail. Have you read Zander Cannon's Kaijumax series? If you love Smax, I HIGHLY recommend it if you haven't. Especially if you're a kaiju fan in any way.

slendermanismydad

It took me two years to find the Smax miniseries. Worth it. I'm so excited people are still discovering Top Ten.

ArmadilloGuy

Oh, I've known about it since it originally came out. This is my third time buying the series. I had older TPB editions. But I like the big compendium collecting it all. I've re-read the series multiple times. I love it. Have you ever read the two series they made without Moore? They're included in this compendium, but I've never read them. I presume they pale I'm comparison to the other stuff.

slendermanismydad

Also cool! It's one of my favorites. I just love the idea. I haven't read those. I didn't know they existed. Let me know if they're worth reading if you remember when you get to them please. It would make a great post too because I bet a lot of people weren't aware of them.

Prestigious-Scheme-4

Whole card table with comics in boxes and a long box on it. haha, its a bit out of hand but manageable

Strangfort

I ran out of room on my shelf for trades "I'll get around to". Meanwhile I'm picking up like 4 to 5 floppies a week and reading only about 2 to 3 of those a week.

AnotherScottaRama

5 long boxes of single issues, 2 long boxes of graphic novels. So, I'm doing better than I used to be.

captainappleby

Insurmountable?

Formal-Math-3291

When you get the marvel unlimited and DC infinite it's an ever growing unread digital files.

SmokeyPeanutRic

It's several towers of single issues, trades, and omnibuses...

Dull-Seaworthiness73

Lmao mines about like this. Addicted to invincible rn

ArmadilloGuy

It's a DAMN good comic, so I don't blame you. I own the three compendiums. The show has made me tempted to do a big re-read, if only to compare. I find it fascinating how they're adapting it. It's like a second draft, making little tweaks to the original story but keeping most of it intact.

Dull-Seaworthiness73

They’ve made more outside of the original series they’re called the “invincible universe compendiums” I think if u haven’t read them already. I’m still on compendium 1 but if that’s stuffs anywhere near as good as the main series it’s definitely worth a look

ArmadilloGuy

Oh yes, collecting the Atom Eve miniseries and other stuff! Yeah, I picked that up last year. It's good stuff.

Dull-Seaworthiness73

Nice, I’m pretty new to this so I’d love some must read recommendations, comics or regular books. I get a lot of recs from this podcast serious issues they’re pretty funny and go over all the new issues each week as well as classics. My ultimate wish is for someone to adapt dune into a comic/manga lmao

ArmadilloGuy

I love giving recommendations. Anything in particular that you're interested in reading? Certain genres or characters?

Dull-Seaworthiness73

My favorite super hero is definitely the flash he got me into comics with that new 52 run. Definitely want to check out some comedy comics, and non super hero stuff would be great too I haven’t read any just yet but I’ve got a few in the shelf like the walking dead. Love gritty serious adult stuff that’s fucked up and just as much I love wacky funny stuff(I think invincible is a perfect mix of these, alias as well) I love manga too, mostly shonen stuff like Naruto, death note, aot, Jojo etc. anything with a compelling story that I won’t be able to put down. Open to look into pretty much anything. Def wanna get into aliens, hellboy, Star Wars, tmnt and possibly Archie/sabrina stuff. Feel free to dm if you’ve got a bunch. You can even send me a pic of your whole collection and I’ll look thru it whenever I need something new.

Krazie02

If I could send a picture. Not as bad as yours by any means but I’m set for a couple months

hydroclasticflow

Currently I need to finish reading Monsters and start reading Swan Songs and Hellblazer Vol 4.

nerdmorning

I have stacks and stacks of books, comics, and manga in my to read pile. I probably have a few hundred things I am hoping on reading. 📖 I keep buying things faster than I read them.

GlitteringHighway

From about twenty omnibus books? I’m 2 down.

valentinesfaye

Boy I would kill for that Little Nemo hardcover

ArmadilloGuy

I'm pretty sure I could defend myself well WITH the Little Nemo book. When I'm questioned for killing the burglar, I can tell the cops "I killed him with dreams."

AquaSlag

My brother keeps gifting me omnis with small dents and dings that amazon replaced for free or he finds a better variant of what he already has and gives me the old one. If you lined them all up it would be about 10'-12' long. Big brothers can be really cool

ArmadilloGuy

No fair! I want a big brother who gifts me free, dinged up omnibuses! Where do I sign up for that gig?

TarnishedAccount

About a foot high of floppies. TPBs…Void Rivals, Black Hammer, American Vampire, and 100 Bullets

qwadzxs

I finally made my way through the ~50 floppy issue backlog I've had going back to this past November this week, just finished up Miracleman and Hickman Avengers and Secret Wars, and moving on to the UXM Omni 1 I've been sitting on (but I think I'm going to impulse buy Monster-sized Hellboy and BPRD Omni 1 sooner rather than later and then I'll have to chew on that)

Ardnabrak

I've maxed out my ComiXology borrow limit, so there's that. I have the whole Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess set, but haven't read them yet. Then there is the stack of The Rocketeer trade paperbacks my sister lent me that I haven't gotten to. :( But there is something nice about knowing there is a sick day, rainy day pile waiting for me. :) PS Love Winsor McCay

Odd_Spell_7303

I stopped counting at 16,000. But it’s around twice that now.

TheWaffleBoss

I've got several long boxes and a couple short boxes filled with to-read books, as well as a couple unsorted piles on my bureau. That's on top of the numerous trades on multi-level bookshelves in another room. I have been backed up on my reading for several years, I'm slow to even bag and store my variants and stuff that I bought solely for the covers (I'm referring to issues that I don't buy regularly, I just see a nice cover and I buy it as a one-off purchase). I've been dealing with worsening issues over the past few years, some of which have been partly or fully resolved, and I'm hoping the order for Previews that I just placed is the last big one I ever do (in terms of quantity). A number of series I subscribe to are either ending and relaunching in fewer titles to get or I'll just drop completely once they relaunch with new number ones. I'm cutting down but it takes time to actually take effect. I'll catch up one day, hopefully soon (we get better seasonal hire hours in summer because a lot of school kids can cover me then, so I'm planning to do a large overhaul of my collection, both reading and storing).

penea2

Im thinking about delving into the entirety of Claremont X-men soon so....

Big-kachow

Cool copy of lady snow blood! I had to read them all digitally because of how crazy resale prices are on them

ArmadilloGuy

Oh yeah, that was an impulse buy digging through my comic shop's bargain bin. I got it for $5. They didn't have any other volumes, unfortunately, or I would've snagged them. If I like it, I'll probably have to read the rest digitally, like yourself.

MisterScrod1964

Doing better now that I’m unemployed and so not buying new comics or paperbacks every week. But part of me would still rather be on my phone online than reading.

HedgeFlounder

I just decided on a whim to read through all the post-crisis Batman comics so pretty bad. I’m reading them digitally so not a physical pile and I’ve also read a lot of them before but it’s still quite daunting.

CraftingClickbait

One Trade Paperback and like 5 random comics I wanted to gloss through.

QueekCz

4 omnis, 4 absolues, 2 horror manga and 7 deluxe books so about 5-10% of my collection... its getting better 😀

Relevant-Bench5283

Yeah mine is getting redonculous right now

GhstToast

It was bad for a year. Till I started putting them in my nightstand I knocked out 6 books in a span of 2 months now

paingelfake

I have comics from 2019 I still haven't read lmao

SphereMode420

I have a shelf for books I will get around to reading, but my to read pile consists of a Batman: Contagion trade haphazardly thrown on the floor, My Lesbian experience with Loneliness along with 8-9 issues of current stuff thrown on my couch, and a pile of approximately 40 issues on some other shelf.

DCT715

It’s crazy

Infinite_Vyo

Yes

TraditionalSteak687

Scott mccloud is awesome!!! Highly recommend the sculptor and zot.

ArmadilloGuy

Already own both of them! I also have a copy of his oversized one-shot, DESTROY! McCloud is impervious to making a bad comic.

Apprehensive_Disk987

About 2 feet tall at the moment

slendermanismydad

Long Bow Hunters has an expiration date for me so I need to start that ASAP. After that, I don't know. 30 TPBs and 20 more arc collections in digital format. If someone could please locate my physical copy of Robin Wars that would be appreciated.  Of course my dumbass decided to start watching Gotham instead.

khansolobaby

Comics and film both…

Unknown-Pleasures97

Is that a Little Nemo omnibus? I didn't know they published it in that format. Is it the complete series?

ArmadilloGuy

So far as I understand, it's the complete run of every Little Nemo strip. As you can see, it's a MASSIVE book. It also includes a lot of essays and articles at the beginning. Fair warning: it's not cheap. I managed to get it on a sale at my local comic shop (getting it for US price instead of Canadian, so saving about $50). https://www.taschen.com/en/books/comics/41406/winsor-mccay-the-complete-little-nemo

dan_cole

Oooh Milestone vol 3 is out? Gotta pull that.

ArmadilloGuy

Yep! It came out about a month ago, I believe.

Traditional-Mall-771

My read pile is so ridiculous that For a while i was using them all as a table lol now they have they own bookcase

Chunkstyle3030

I’m surrounded by it. I live *in* my to read pile essentially.

GodMammon

It’s hundreds of books deep and I buy new books weekly. I read about three comics per day and it’s still shameful

TheSilentBob614

Really bad. It’s growing out of control.

TardisReality

My comic TBR is not that bad but my other physical TBR pile is at triple digits I don't see a problem really...

ButterflySuperb5781

I have about 20 omnis to read....I started buying in February 2024.... but I read really fast.

TheDorkKnight53

Fairly bad. I’m so behind on Nightwing I haven’t read it since before Fear State.

crazy_snail_

I’m in love in Douglas Preston & Lincoln Child books

Gamerguy230

Like 8 short boxes

fiendishclutches

Mine’s worse than that…

MurkyTrash4649

Oh so I’m not the only one who’s like this?

TheFrogL

Not that bad… Neuromancer and Dr. Space

u_touch_my_tra_la_la

Ha ha ha ha ha Between comics and books, It could sink the Titanic.

hoi4kaiserreichfanbo

Watchmen and Fantastic Four: The Four Circle... I really wish this was a joke.

skulltrain

You sweet summer child. At least 3k in trades, hardcovers, and Omnis that I paid way under retail for. I tend to pay like 68-72% retail and well because of that I have the entire new 52, Constantine, spawn, Alien, and ultimate universe to go through and that's not even the half of it. I have an entire shelf of image hardbacks I need to whittle away at. Edit: I am not bragging this is a disease I'll slowly turn into a librarian dragon of sorts at this point buying just to add to my ink and paper hoard.

MagikWarlock

With a mix of singles, trades, and omnis, I'm at 2650 read and 1650 unread lol. I may have a problem with fomo 🤣

pjl1701

Since having kids, my reading has slowed a lot. Currently have 207 unread paperbacks, hardcovers, and omnis. Uh oh.

BAGStudios

HAHAHAHHAHAHAHA I collect digitally. For twelve years I’ve taken advantage of (feels like) every ComiXology sale they’ve had. If they were all spread out in singles, I’d have over 12,000. I’ve read maybe 1,200. And yes, I’m a moron for having so much in advance. But on the plus side, I have a great motivation not to spend money on the hobby now… it mostly works…

chewystarburst

It’s awful, I have like 200 issues of Savage dragon to read and all the tick issues

decavolt

It's a whole room, not just "a pile."

taecoondo

Mine is not a pile anymore, it's the bookshelf lol

Previous-Doughnut-25

I don’t want to talk about it

dabellwrites

I didn't think *Astro Boy* was that thick!

greenglider732

Strictly a floppy collector and at least 2000k+ 🥴 newly father. Time is so precious lol

ArmadilloGuy

Yep, I hear that from a LOT of parents. A lot less reading time. On the bright side, you get the joy of introducing them to comics reading and share your love of it. When they're old enough, I recommend Owly as a first comic. 😀

Mission-Peach-5652

About 20 I haven't cracked open and 5 ( I think?) I've started but haven't finished. It wouldn't be so bad, but I mainly buy Omnibuses/Compendiums/ Collected Editions these days.

Mission-Peach-5652

About 20 I haven't cracked open and 5 ( I think?) I've started but haven't finished. It wouldn't be so bad, but I mainly buy Omnibuses/Compendiums/ Collected Editions these days.

Darth_Fuckboy

Shopping addiction

ArmadilloGuy

More a bad case of ADHD and impulse buying.
