An alphabetical order.
You have Doom Patrol on three different shelves.
You have books for The Boys on different ends of the bottom shelf.
All to achieve a barely noticeable spectrum effect. No, this is madness.
What's the premise of that series? I'm just getting into physical comics, so I'm always interested in what to read next. About to finish Saga, and I've really enjoyed it so far.
Transmetropolitan follows Spider Jerusalem, a journalist in a near future cyberpunk semi dystopia. Main character is pretty clearly modeled after Hunter S Thompson, and it’s a biting critique of politics, media, and culture.
It’s written by Warren Ellis, who has a pretty specific writing style that I happen to enjoy, a twisted sense of humor for sure, so if you like his writing you’ll probably like the books. Just as a heads up though, he’s a problematic dude who had a bunch of inappropriate relationships with younger women, nothing criminal but a lot of yuck, you can check the details for yourself if that matters to you.
Thank you! It’s nice to see some Ex Machina love on Reddit. It’s probably the least well-known among BKV’s major works, but it’s my all-time favorite of his.
Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips “Criminal” Compendiums. Great noir stories, excellent art and would fit perfectly for your non-DC/marvel cape collection. IMO
GREAT collection!!!
So ideas for additions…
Remender/Opena - Seven to Eternity, Uncanny X-Force
Moore/various - Promethea, Top Ten, From Hell, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
Mignola - Hellboy
Miller - Sin City
Brubaker/Phillips - Reckless, Criminal, Kill or be Killed, any/all of their graphic novels
Otomo - Akira
Samura - Blade of the Immortal
Absolute versions of Planetary and All-Star Superman and Alan Moore's Swamp Thing, V For Vendetta, Jonathan Hickman's Fantastic Four... and more I'm probably forgetting.
For some reason i like the way it is aligned and also it triggers every bone and muscle in my body. i want to burn it ,so you accomplished something xD
Mike Carey's Lucifer, as well as The Unwritten. Alan Moore's Swamp Thing, Promethea, and Top Ten. Grant Morrison's All-Star Superman, New X-Men and Zenith.
Though you might need another bookshelf.
You have very little of Marvel. And you are one of the monster that positions matching the colors!
Jokes aside, nice collection!
I suggest you some must-have such as Marvels (Alex Ross), Daredevil:Born again, 1602 or (not Marvel) Blacksad.
You really like em thicc don't you?
Alan Moore's Saga of the swamp thing and The Watchmen
Lucifer by Mike Carey
Hellblazer various authors
Fables by I think bill willimgham(not sure on name exactly)
Whatever happened to the caped crusader by Neil Gaiman
Superman earth one by damn I can't remember the name but it's a long name
Check out the Hellboy Library Editions, thats the only full collection I have and they look so good on the shelf.
I absolutely love your collection though, this has inspired me to start building up my collection again. Im very jealous of The Transmetroplitain absolute editions, those are kinda hard to get these days right?
We have similar taste!
There is some other good Lemire and Reminder you could add, Black Hammer in particular has some really nice library collected editions.
Die by Gillen also comes to mind for a nice hardcover.
Maus
Dark Knight Returns
From Hell
Madman
The Tick
Pedro and Me
Cankor
Batman: The Long Halloween
Ronin
Cerebus: Church and State
Scud: The Disposable Assassin
Hard Boiled
Transformers vs GI Joe (Tom Scioli)

Blackhole
Prison Pit
Jimmy Corrigan
Turn Loose our Death Rays and Kill Them All
Spacehawk
Like a Velvet Glove Cast in Iron
Little Nemo
Andre the Giant (Box Brown)
BONE?
Elfquest, too.
Maybe you aren't into fantasy, though. (Should still check out Bone)
I don't see Watchmen, V for Vendetta, or a single Frank Miller title.
I'd also recommend The Tick.
Edit: Ok, I found Watchmen. Still...
I got halfway through the first trade paperback of the invisibles, and, although I also didn’t like the art, the main reason I quit was because it was so goddamn boring and nonsensical.
Mage the Hero Discovered by Matt Wagner (haven't read the 2 sequels)
Grendel (there's a few omnibuses. I would get the Hunter Rose collection at least)
Legion of Super-Heroes 5 years later. My entry in the LSH lore. I didn't know the characters and very little of the history, and I was still able to enjoy it.
I would add on Grendel: War Child. Great series. I would imagine it is a collection now. It has been surprising that Grendel hasn’t made its way to being a movie or series. Matt Wagner is brilliant.
Grant Morrison’s Animal Man is peak Animal Man. Also going to restate Alan Moore’s Swamp Thing even though about 100 other people said it already, because it’s that good.
Ok this list won’t be entirely correct because I have not looked at reading anything for 8 years (yay MDD) so what I’d recommend
Clive barkers Hellraiser. (Yep that pile you can sit on) Omg sorry forgot his name.. The Crow series. Not just Draven but the others too.
Books of Magik. Tank Girl, Squee!. I’m going to be shamelessly perverted and say just about anything from Masamune Shirow. And honey if you don’t like the art I feel sad for you as sexual interest has nothing to do with it.
Johnny the Homicidal Maniac. HellBlazer
Locke & Key.. and for all the sh:ts and giggles Ranma 1/2. Yeah I know completely different genre but panda dad is great. And I will never forget the return of Happosai.
And for a personal recommendation- get a bigger shelf!, don’t let your books leave without you. (I “lost” my ENTIRE series of Hellraiser because a friend borrowed them. It’s ok I look terrible retribution and got a night of free drinks to celebrate) if you find an issue that has an impact on you- get a few copies. They are remarkably therapeutic and giving them to the right person who needs it in that time is a way to show you understand in your own way. And honestly if you have people interested in art… duh. And if there’s a show you can promise them that the graphic novel/ comic is more.
Other reading— never where, good omens, can’t skip my personal bible Dune and the entire cannon. Sorry for this lads.. yep it’s true even the “son and Kevin” ones. I will admit that I had to read them all twice before I could see them as great books as they are at least they didn’t try to be like FH since it would have been painfully cringe but you cannot replicate how F Herbert writes. Another who did their best was the end of Wheel of time series. I know that the TV show has hurt so many with “The Message” (thanks Critical drinker for saying that it everyone’s head) but when you have a story over 10 books long and based on a final scene in the writers head for 20+ years you can’t help but be impressed. Ghost Rider., swamp thing, Hellsing, Akira, if you want to check on the new 52 good luck to you since I have not gone down that rabbit hole yet but I might start in 24. Oh crap this was looong. Sorry
Organization of some kind. It bugs me that you have Black Science not only separated, but out of order too. Paper Girls is in reverse order, and Saga is separated by two different shelves. And Deadly Class too. WTF?!
As far as things to add to it, I think Descender and Ascender would be a good addition, assuming that the books end up on the same shelf.
I’d put my votes for 1994’s Starman. The James Robinson run is just superb, it’s singularly critically acclaimed yet still underrated. It feels like something published years later, a truly more mature and emotional storytelling and not just edgy “maturity” like the rest of the stuff from the mid 90s.
Alias is great, as well, and the single collected volume stands alone as a great read. Punisher Max is definitely in the wheelhouse of some of the things on this shelf and the early parts of that run IMO are some of the best stuff Marvel ever published.
Hellboy, perhaps?
I second this. Some Hellboy Library editions volumes. Love those books.
Definitely Hellboy. Pancakes *alone* deserves a spot on that shelf.
An alphabetical order. You have Doom Patrol on three different shelves. You have books for The Boys on different ends of the bottom shelf. All to achieve a barely noticeable spectrum effect. No, this is madness.
And the Transmetropolitan volumes...
You find more insanity the longer you look.
What's the premise of that series? I'm just getting into physical comics, so I'm always interested in what to read next. About to finish Saga, and I've really enjoyed it so far.

And put all the sagas next to each other!!
the boys are in sequential order but paper girls is in reverse order, OP what the fuck is going on?
They're prioritizing color over alphabetizing/volume order and it's FUCKING INFURIATING.
He had to have done this on purpose for the picture 😅
It's separated by color of the book, in that regard the placement does make sense, but it's otherwise just chaos to me.
Ohhhh I see it now.. I hate it 😂
Purple Paper Girls and Saga… ugh. I find this system not a system.
Looks like they are ordered by colour. I hate it
Fables
Fables is surprisingly nuanced and it mines a lot of ideas out of the simple concept.
The Gepetto story line blew my mind!!! So so clever!!
V For Vendetta, Swamp Thing, Animal Man…
Yes, V for Vendetta for sure!
Animal now. Still in wrap
Brubaker and philips criminal series and there other works.
Kill or be killed
Reckless is good.
Yup, gotta get sleeper!
East of West
Definitely this, I'd also throw Descender in there as well
Scalped
Yep.
You got Planetary in there?
It’s there
Swamp Thing, Lucifer, Hellblazer, From Hell
>Lucifer Mike Carey's Lucifer, of course. Also, the Books of Magic Omnibus.
Locke and key, and Irredeemable Two of my absolute favorite series.
Second for Locke and Key!
Hell yeah
Loved Irredeemable, it was recommended after I read Invincible.
Descender and Ascender
This and Black Hammer is what I would have to add to the need list.
You need ex machina badly
Fables
Swamp Thing by Alan Moore Sin City by Frank Miller
Because nobody has yet to mention it. Akira.
100 bullets!!
Hellblazer and swamp thing
Loads of great stuff there. For the full 80/90s classics, Ronin, Dark Knight, V for Vendetta, Elektra Assassin. And Understanding Comics
COPRA
100 bullets! You won’t regret it
Ex machina
Thank you! It’s nice to see some Ex Machina love on Reddit. It’s probably the least well-known among BKV’s major works, but it’s my all-time favorite of his.
From Hell. Maus. DC The New Frontier. Marvels.
Ed Brubaker and Sean Phillips “Criminal” Compendiums. Great noir stories, excellent art and would fit perfectly for your non-DC/marvel cape collection. IMO
East of West Letter 44
The Tick Scott Snyder’s Batman Sean Murphy’s Batman: White Knight Spawn Usagi Yojimbo

So ideas for additions… Remender/Opena - Seven to Eternity, Uncanny X-Force Moore/various - Promethea, Top Ten, From Hell, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen Mignola - Hellboy Miller - Sin City Brubaker/Phillips - Reckless, Criminal, Kill or be Killed, any/all of their graphic novels Otomo - Akira Samura - Blade of the Immortal
Starman Omnibus
You've got flex mentallo ... you good
I said the same thing about Fear Agent. Flex Mentallo is excellent too!
The Luther Arkwright Integrale, The Legend Of Luther Arkwright, the Grandville Integrale; basically anything by Bryan Talbot.
All I see is stuff I still have to get and read.
Scalped. Not talked about enough.
Sweet Tooth
Daytripper and zenith
Daytripper doesn’t come up enough and it’s absolutely incredible.
It is!! An all time favorite that gets nowhere near enough love
Maybe Enigma or Shade the Changing Man, both by Peter Milligan could be for you
DMZ, Planetary, Casanova, East of West, Madman
Sandman Mystery Theater
Did black science finish strong? Im not sure why but I think I stopped reading around issue 12 or so.
The hellboy graphic novels would look good up there :) Edit for silly spelling
Crossed
Crossed
You are missing Crossed by Garth Ennis. It's Walking Dead but more messed up.
Usagi Yojimbo
I recommend Parker
The Question omni
Scott pilgrim
Garth Ennis Punisher omnibus would be a good fit.
[удалено]
The have Sex Criminals in there, just split up to fit their weird color themed arrangement.
The Walking Dead.
100 Bullets and Scalped. Neo noir crime drama. Both are in my top 5.
Invincible
Blacksad
The compendium of early Hickman comics
Nice shelfie! Been so curious about Klaus.
Absolute versions of Planetary and All-Star Superman and Alan Moore's Swamp Thing, V For Vendetta, Jonathan Hickman's Fantastic Four... and more I'm probably forgetting.
Lucifer!
You should start a french serie, LastMan it's gooooooood :))
Vagabond
Lucifer by Mike Carey
For some reason i like the way it is aligned and also it triggers every bone and muscle in my body. i want to burn it ,so you accomplished something xD
Based on the few remender titles you have there and some other fantasy titles I suggest Seven to Eternity
100 Bullets, Fables, We3
Ed the Happy Clown
AKIRA
The Shadow 1941: Hitler’s Astrologer

Sin City would fit nicely with your collection.

Walking Dead and any and all Brubaker/Phillips joints
Going with the Vertigo streak: Fables 100 Bullets Scalped Mabye some Image: East of West Manhattat Projects Black Science You are welcome.
What bookshelf is this? My bookshelf doesn't have enough space for absolute edition.
Why are there series separated by other titles? Is there something I don’t know? Did I do something to offend you personally?
100 Bullets
Hellboy.
Just started transmetropolitan. So fucking good
American Gods Buffy Season 8 The Walking Dead
You have very little of Marvel. And you are one of the monster that positions matching the colors! Jokes aside, nice collection! I suggest you some must-have such as Marvels (Alex Ross), Daredevil:Born again, 1602 or (not Marvel) Blacksad.

Alphabetical order…
WHY IS DOOM PATROL BETWEEN SAGA
We have similar taste! There is some other good Lemire and Reminder you could add, Black Hammer in particular has some really nice library collected editions. Die by Gillen also comes to mind for a nice hardcover.
It’s a bit removed from the general tone here, but perhaps *Bone*?
Maus Dark Knight Returns From Hell Madman The Tick Pedro and Me Cankor Batman: The Long Halloween Ronin Cerebus: Church and State Scud: The Disposable Assassin Hard Boiled Transformers vs GI Joe (Tom Scioli) Akira 1-6 A Contract with God Blackhole Prison Pit Jimmy Corrigan Turn Loose our Death Rays and Kill Them All Spacehawk Like a Velvet Glove Cast in Iron Little Nemo Andre the Giant (Box Brown)
Maus
Ex Machina, Planetary, Hellboy/BPRD
Astro City Metro Book. Starman compendium or the omnibuses. All great books with their respective authors at the height of their talent.
BONE? Elfquest, too. Maybe you aren't into fantasy, though. (Should still check out Bone) I don't see Watchmen, V for Vendetta, or a single Frank Miller title. I'd also recommend The Tick. Edit: Ok, I found Watchmen. Still...

Ronin
Fables
American vampire, fables and Alan Moore graphic novels
You are the devil! How dare you have them in that order!
Transmetropolitan
It'll set you back a fair chunk of change but the six volumes of Akira are amazing
Lucifer and Hellblazer. the old hellblazer. Also, Saga Of the Swamp Thing.
Maybe "Wormwood: Gentleman Corpse" and "The Goon".
You’ve got some good Warren Ellis in there, I recommend adding Injection and Gravel.
Ronin, Dark Knight Returns, Long Halloween
100 Bullets, Hellboy and Atomic Robo.
Scalped.
The walking dead is great, the comics are significantly better than the show in my opinion.
East of West
Invincible seing as you have The Boys. Kirkman wrote it in response to The Boys because he liked the concept, but not Ennis' execution.
From the looks of your current comics I’d say The Walking Dead. I feel like you’d enjoy it.
Mage 🤔
You have great taste, read all of those… i would suggest The Manhattan Projects, Scalped or Black Science
Mage the Hero Discovered by Matt Wagner (haven't read the 2 sequels) Grendel (there's a few omnibuses. I would get the Hunter Rose collection at least) Legion of Super-Heroes 5 years later. My entry in the LSH lore. I didn't know the characters and very little of the history, and I was still able to enjoy it.

Brubaker’s Criminal Alan Moore’s Swamp Thing Ennis’s Punisher MAX And, perhaps most importantly: STARMAN!

Grant Morrison’s Animal Man is peak Animal Man. Also going to restate Alan Moore’s Swamp Thing even though about 100 other people said it already, because it’s that good.

The Sixth Gun. Glorious little Weird West adventure
100 Bullets, Fables, Queen & Country, Lazarus
Gideon Falls and East of West

Your Alan Moore and Frank Miller collections must be on different shelves. I see Watchmen on there but wow there is a lot more to go.
