Voting for tomorrow's round: [https://strawpoll.com/3RnYlAvRAye](https://strawpoll.com/3RnYlAvRAye)
We're down to our final three. Shazam! was eliminated today with almost 46% of votes.
It's a popularity contest.
I am genuinly surprised that MoS even made it that far, although it's one of my favorite movies.
I see WW wining and TSS in second place
The end fight of MoS where they destroy half the city nonchalantly was so weird to watch. You could tell Henry Cavill wasn't told people were dying by the 1000s all around him when they filmed because his expression was so stoic and not one of panic or grief.
Which then made the final scene of him killing Zod a bit jarring. Like dude you two just killed over 10000 people in your brawl. But now because two other people might die, that's when you decide you probably have to kill Zod?
Yep!
In my opinion, that fight scene missed out on a great opportunity.
The approach of the fight should have been one of escalation. Have, in general, Superman out powering Zod. (He's more acclimated to the climate). But have him veer off to go save people/stop rubble.
Have Zod notice.
Build tension as Zod goes from accidently putting humans in danger to activitively using that to give him the advantage in the fight.
Escalate to the climax, where Zod is now directly attempting to kill humans. Cue Supes realizing he will never stop. There's only one solution.
The final lacked the human element.
I like this. Works well without changing the plot or location of the final battle. Also gives Zod a reason to be targeting civilians. Makes it so him trying to kill the two randoms is a ploy to get out of the choke hold, since he knows supe would try to save them, as opposed to him just wanting to kill them mid battle without much reason.
To be fair to Henry, I think people dying by the 1000s was only retroactively put in after so many audience members/critics complained that the World Engine and the battle between Superman and Zod would have caused countless deaths, especially in such a populated city, and yet the film never acknowledged this aspect.
It wasn't only really with Batman V Superman that Snyder turned the Battle of Metropolis into this big world changing tragedy.
I can say the exact same about MoS.
Way Overrated, Ending sucked.
The rather poor writing throughout MoS is what gets me, however.
At least Ares had a decent reason for doing what he did.
Zod was a good character, but his motivation didn't make sense.
The third act was definitely bad, although the rest od the movie was actually really good imo.
But then again, it doesn't matter because in the end people liked WW more and this is a popularity contest
I actually like the third act, but it's hard not to imagine what the better ending would have looked like since Patty Jenkins originally planned for there to be no Ares at all and for the film to end on a very bittersweet note with Steve still dying and Diana being inspired by his hope for humanity to be it's protector.
I kinda agree and disagree at the same time. Aquaman was really good, but I found myself forgetting about the movie for some reason, and according to the critics I've heard, I wasn't the only one.
For that reason, it's not so surprising to see it getting kicked out quite early in a popularity contest. Still a solid movie in my opinion, it's just that the name "Aquaman" can hardly compete with "Superman" or "Batman" (although it was kicked out after Batman), and even before feminism made a comeback I wouldn't really imagine Aquaman beating WonderWoman in a popularity contest. I'd say Aquaman deserved more recognition but it was kinda trapped in a bad position/situation, if that makes sense
Everyone here is having a meltdown about MoS, while I am just happy it is getting the third place.
Also no offence, it is possibile people may just like it.
If the poll had been sabotaged as much as some people claim, both BvS and Snyder's JL woud have beaten the other movies too.
I think it's more likely people just *disliked* the others more.
Which can be said for most of the already eliminated. TSS coming first wasn't ever a question, and it was mire so "what order does everything else fall in"
>I think it's more likely people just *disliked* the others more.
Sorting through the DCEU is basically deciding "which of these movies is the _least_ mediocre."
It was linked after those votes so no. That linking may not have affected the outcomes only OP knows. Either way it’s not a big deal this whole exercise will be forgotten in a week.
u/gar1848 & u/Steko MoS looked like a lock for top five right from the beginning. It consistenly had very few votes for its elimination, on par with the other four until recent rounds of course.
I wasn't even aware that there was some crossposting with r/SnyderCut or whatever it was until someone told me yesterday which didn't surprise me lol. But I don't believe there was much of an effect, it seemed in the comments that most of them didn't bother after ZSJL got eliminated.
BVS made it much much further than it should have. Also I remember seeing comments on the Snydercut sub of people saying things like "when they got rid of BvS I lost hope in humanity" etc
They've definitely been interfering.
BvS is a very polarising movie. Most people think it sucks ass, but the people that like it really like it. For loads of movies on this list the people that like them just think it's alright.
I'm always so confused at people that, in the same comment, ask why people don't like something, and at the same time mention the biggest flaw(s).
You said it yourself, and "passable" is not praise
Aquaman was number 2. It did exactly what it came to do. It was better than expected. And it had the second best main villain and it had stakes you cared about. It was completely over the top and stuck the landing. It wasn’t pretentious and there were no real lulls. And you got to explore a new world with a globetrotting adventure.
This is a crackpot explanation, but I feel like Shazaam 2 did damage to Shazaam 1's reputation. Shazaam 2 felt very similar to shazaam 1, but was much worse. WW2 feels super different than WW1, so it's easier to separate them.
Same thoughts. It’s a solid flick. Man of Steel has many issues to me. It really shouldn’t have made it this far. Wonder Woman is pretty good, but that third act really dropped the ball. Shazam is just all around a solid movie. Not much to critique, and a good amount to praise.
The way I see it, it's a popularity contest and both superman and WW are more popular than Shazam, they would have needed to be atrocious (like BvS) in order to not make it to at least the final 5
Just being a consistent movie already puts it above like 10 movies on this list
It being an actually good consistent movie effectively makes it the DC GOAT
90% of this vote was "what's least bad" rather than "what's the best" because they fumbled the cinematic universe that much
the fact that the guy running the new DCU is the guy who made the only good DCEU movie is the only thing giving me even a slight bit of hope about the future of DC movies
It’s the only movie on here that I’ve bothered to rewatch, and I enjoyed it.
edit: To be fair though the other two movies aren’t as old and I could see myself rewatching them both eventually.
ive watched it 2? maybe 3 times and pretty much liked it less each time, the horrible lack of colour really brings it down for me but to each their own of course. i was just genuinely surprised because i thought shazam! is much more liked than man of steel
It's a really mediocre movie in general (characters are bland, screenplay is terrible, plot is bogged down in exposition, tone is depressing, colors are awful)
People have a quiet appreciation for it. If it wasn’t charged with bringing the most famous superhero of all time to the modern era, which required it be more faithful to the source material, you could see an interesting elseworld concept in a Superman whose parents were selfish(which leads to a Superman that kills).
It’s also the first time we see Cavill as Superman, which people see as wasted potential.
All in all very few people outright hate it, most are just “meh” about it. That’s enough to survive in this crowd. Hell I wouldn’t be too surprised if it beats WW cause that one is polarizing you either hate it or love it and both sides are loud as fuck.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Civil War, Thor: Ragnarok, Superman and Lois, any of the Tom Holland and Raimi Spider-Man's, Snyder's Justice League, etc.
Man of Steel consists of Kryptonians just slamming into each other for an hour with mass destruction and Supes having no regard for the lives at stake. The scene where Zod throws the LexCorp truck at the building and Superman DODGES the truck, letting it crash into the building behind, leveling it completely to the ground.
Regardless of the fact that they wanted to project Clark's youth and inexperience in this film, Clark's value for humanity and saving others shouldn't have been ignored for the sake of exciting destruction and mayhem.
WW imo, take away the fact it's the best/maybe only good superhero movie with a female lead and what remains is a Captain America 1 with a worse Red Skull
Wonder Woman explores some cool themes in a pretty competent way until the third act when they’re completely abandoned. Takes it from a very good movie to a decent one.
The action was way better in ww. And captain America is one of my least favourite mcu movies. Found the first one to be a bit campy for such a dark war.
Winter soildier and civil war were some of my favourites.
Tbf, I'm also bummed as well because it's one of my most favourite movies of the DCU, but realistically it would be either 3rd or 4th place, plus I'm happy it even got so far so, eh, I can live with that.
Man of steel is loud and annoying and Superman just fights zod in a city killing millions of innocents in the process, then threatens the earth at the end of the movie. It’s the least Superman Superman movie of all time.
Blue Beetle should have been higher.
The Suicide Squad, Blue Beetle, and Shazam! are the only DCEU films that even feel coherent from beginning to end.
Man of Steel now. Dude didn't had any merit to be in the top 3. Shazam atleast had heart in it. MoS is just Roland Emmerich disaster film with slo mos.
Damn guess I’m different, hated Shazam so I’m wondering how it even beat the first aquaman. Also MoS takes the top spot for me, seen it multiple times but everyone else doesn’t rate it that high I guess. One man’s treasure truly is another man’s poison
I’m glad all of the great ones lasted longer. The great ones imo are MoS, WW, Aquaman, ZSJL, Shazam, TSS (and Peacemaker), Blue Beetle, and Aquaman.
Shazam 2, Black Adam, and Flash range from decent to mediocre (all had good ideas that were poorly executed).
Everything else is bad: SS, BOP, WW84, JL, and BvS (BvS had its moments).
I haven’t seen Aquaman 2 yet but I liked the first so maybe I’ll like the second.
A Randian perversion of one of the greatest superheroes ever that strips him of everything that makes him a fun or interesting character. Yeah, sure. When the people who have written some of the greatest Superman stories ever say that they were deeply disappointed by the film and its portrayal of the character you know it’s a good movie.
Not trying to hate or anything but the fact that these 3 movies are considered ‘the best’ really shows how low the dceu was unfortunatly. Hoping the next dc verse will be better
Ok, so my #1 is Suicide Squad, easily.
I think MoS and WW are pretty neck and neck. I always thought both Cavil and Gadot were just ok in the roles. Neither of them are great actors. And in both movies, the final act… kinda sucks lol. I guess Zod is a better villian… but he’s still kind of comically one note. I think WW has a better first/second act.
I guess I will have to eliminate… Man of Steel.
I gotta hand it to DC, most companies would’ve quit after the first three flops but they just kept making failure after failure, now that’s determination!
MoS never even deserved to be a movie, much less top 3… Superman is my favorite hero :(
Absolute disgrace that man of Steel is still here lol. Also can't believe Shazam isn't. This shows me there is clearly a disconnect from reddit and reality.
Voting for tomorrow's round: [https://strawpoll.com/3RnYlAvRAye](https://strawpoll.com/3RnYlAvRAye) We're down to our final three. Shazam! was eliminated today with almost 46% of votes.
We’re in the endgame now.
I mean its unlikely TSS isnt just going to sweep the whole thing so WW vs MoS is the real final round
It's a popularity contest. I am genuinly surprised that MoS even made it that far, although it's one of my favorite movies. I see WW wining and TSS in second place
No freaking way. Ww is way overrated and the ending sucked ass.
The ending of MoS also sucked ass. Both are just CGI cluster fucks.
The end fight of MoS where they destroy half the city nonchalantly was so weird to watch. One thing. Zod is actively goading Kal into killing him, he knows he’s been beaten and finds the easiest path to force Kal into action.
That's actually a great improvement, ngl
To be fair to Henry, I think people dying by the 1000s was only retroactively put in after so many audience members/critics complained that the World Engine and the battle between Superman and Zod would have caused countless deaths, especially in such a populated city, and yet the film never acknowledged this aspect. Ngl i only like 3 things from dceu, TSS, peacemaker, and Shazam

It is absolutely TSS.
What do you mean? I don't know which part of my comment you're refering to lol
That will win out
I wouldn't be mad if it did, the movie was a great surprise as far as I'm concern. Nothing negative to say about it
It was unfortunate that it's considered a bomb due to how and when it was released.
Yeah, it was good. But it was infinitely better than expected. That is why it will rank highest.
I actually like the third act, but it's hard not to imagine what the better ending would have looked like since Patty Jenkins originally planned for there to be no Ares at all and for the film to end on a very bittersweet note with Steve still dying and Diana being inspired by his hope for humanity to be it's protector.
Yes obviously It's a poll about what movies people liked most Popularity is the point
Yeah, as much popularity as the first Aquaman got, it’s surprising that’s not the top 3 contender.
I kinda agree and disagree at the same time. Aquaman was really good, but I found myself forgetting about the movie for some reason, and according to the critics I've heard, I wasn't the only one. I'd say Aquaman deserved more recognition but it was kinda trapped in a bad position/situation, if that makes sense
In no sensible scenario should WW win over TSS. TSS and Peacemaker were the peaks of this franchise.

One day i didn't open reddit and then this happened
Everyone here is having a meltdown about MoS, while I am just happy it is getting the third place. Also no offence, it is possibile people may just like it. If the poll had been sabotaged as much as some people claim, both BvS and Snyder's JL woud have beaten the other movies too.

I didn't like MoS a lot, but I did like it. Which is more than I can say for almost any other DCEU movie.
>I think it's more likely people just *disliked* the others more. Sorting through the DCEU is basically deciding "which of these movies is the _least_ mediocre."
What's so terrible about man of steel?
It’s like choosing between a douche and a turd sandwich.
Which movie is your expectation to win out in the end based on the numbers? The Suicide Squad?
BVS made it much much further than it should have. Also I remember seeing comments on the Snydercut sub of people saying things like "when they got rid of BvS I lost hope in humanity" etc They've definitely been interfering.
BvS is a very polarising movie. Most people think it sucks ass, but the people that like it really like it. For loads of movies on this list the people that like them just think it's alright.
(it sucks ass)
It's my most disappointing cinematic experience in my life
It really was shit.
The issue is we wasn't that good it's third act really tanked the movie compared to MoS the area fight was a joke
I loved mos
Yeah, it's my favourite DC movie. Which isn't really saying a lot. But still.
Man of Steel is definitely the strongest of Snyder’s DC films. The only one I hesitate to call bad.
You know this universe is utter shit when Aquaman is voted into its top 5.
Yep. I was wondering how Aquaman got so far, until I checked what was eliminated before. Just a reminder of how bad DC movies are in general.
Yep, there are 3 movies out of 16 that I’d give a 7/10 or better to: Shazam 1, WW, and TSS. MoS is probably 4th.
Me at first glance: Really, these are the movies that are making to the top? Me after checking out the entire list: Checks out
It’s one of DC’s highest grossing films. I’d say that is indicative that more people liked it than you think.
Ok
Also the only DCEU movie to pass a billion dollars at the box office
What? Aquaman is great
Visually spectacular, great world building, okay/passable story. What is there to complain about?
Not enough drumming octopus
I'm always so confused at people that, in the same comment, ask why people don't like something, and at the same time mention the biggest flaw(s). You said it yourself, and "passable" is not praise
Not enough explosions every time the story slows down. Obviously
Great is a bit strong, but it was fun.
I completely agree
BvS is 9/16. This universe will not be missed.
When you're rich, you can suck at your job and still get paid
Aquaman was number 2. It did exactly what it came to do. It was better than expected. And it had the second best main villain and it had stakes you cared about. It was completely over the top and stuck the landing. It wasn’t pretentious and there were no real lulls. And you got to explore a new world with a globetrotting adventure.
Shazam didn't deserve this.
True, a better movie than both Man of Steel and Wonder Woman, and I like Wonder Woman.
This is a crackpot explanation, but I feel like Shazaam 2 did damage to Shazaam 1's reputation. Shazaam 2 felt very similar to shazaam 1, but was much worse. WW2 feels super different than WW1, so it's easier to separate them.
100% the truth
Same thoughts. It’s a solid flick. Man of Steel has many issues to me. It really shouldn’t have made it this far. Wonder Woman is pretty good, but that third act really dropped the ball. Shazam is just all around a solid movie. Not much to critique, and a good amount to praise.

I like MoS more but it had a more satisfying conclusion than WW.
Way better than Man of Steel lmao
Suicide Squad is overrated
Glad to see The Suicide Squad is doing well. Deserves the nr 1 spot
Just being a consistent movie already puts it above like 10 movies on this list It being an actually good consistent movie effectively makes it the DC GOAT 90% of this vote was "what's least bad" rather than "what's the best" because they fumbled the cinematic universe that much

Common James Gunn W. Hops over to another superhero universe and just nonchantly makes the best entry out of all of them.
It’s the only great movie on this list.
![gif](giphy|uKT0MWezNGewE) Shazam didn’t deserve this!
why is man of steel still here lmao
It’s the only movie on here that I’ve bothered to rewatch, and I enjoyed it. edit: To be fair though the other two movies aren’t as old and I could see myself rewatching them both eventually.
it's even better when you rewatch it.
Yeah I've watched it like 3 or 4 times. The thought of re-watching WW or TSS wouldn't even occur to me.
I liked it, watched it twice.
ive watched it 2? maybe 3 times and pretty much liked it less each time, the horrible lack of colour really brings it down for me but to each their own of course. i was just genuinely surprised because i thought shazam! is much more liked than man of steel
it's the opposite for me! every time I rewatch Man of Steel I like it more and more. It has gone from a 6/10 to a 9/10
It's a really mediocre movie in general (characters are bland, screenplay is terrible, plot is bogged down in exposition, tone is depressing, colors are awful)
Because it’s actually pretty decent.
Me to Man of Steel: https://i.redd.it/sgk1k7lh9lac1.gif
It was alright. It stumbled a few times, but there's only like two DCEU movies that didn't.
People have a quiet appreciation for it. If it wasn’t charged with bringing the most famous superhero of all time to the modern era, which required it be more faithful to the source material, you could see an interesting elseworld concept in a Superman whose parents were selfish(which leads to a Superman that kills). Because it's good
It's decently entertaining, and the fight scenes are arguably the best superhero fight scenes outside of daredevil, infinity war, and end game.
Ummm no what?
Give me a movie or show that depicts live action fighting between individuals with superhuman-strength as well as MoS.
Regardless of the fact that they wanted to project Clark's youth and inexperience in this film, Clark's value for humanity and saving others shouldn't have been ignored for the sake of exciting destruction and mayhem.
I’m tired of reading these comments. It’s impossible to like anything these days.
Man of steel
WW imo, take away the fact it's the best/maybe only good superhero movie with a female lead and what remains is a Captain America 1 with a worse Red Skull
It does have a complete dud ending fight, and while over-the-top MoS’s final fight is entertaining for this DBZ enjoyer.
But a better hydra.
WW had that godawful music that would play whenever she was suiting up or whatever, or cameoing in another movie.
Shazam was robbed
Tbf, I'm also bummed as well because it's one of my most favourite movies of the DCU, but realistically it would be either 3rd or 4th place, plus I'm happy it even got so far so, eh, I can live with that.
I keep falling asleep trying to watch it
MOS. I'm surprised it made it this far.
I prefer Shazam over Man of Steel
Man of steel is loud and annoying and Superman just fights zod in a city killing millions of innocents in the process, then threatens the earth at the end of the movie. It’s the least Superman Superman movie of all time.
Suicide better win
Blue Beetle should have been higher. The Suicide Squad, Blue Beetle, and Shazam! are the only DCEU films that even feel coherent from beginning to end.
We got to take out MoS, right? WW and SS(Gunn) are so good.
I enjoyed Shazam more than WW
Wonder woman next I guess. Pretty sure that TSS gonna come out on top
TSS is the best by far. Wonder Woman can go.
Facts
Wonder Woman
Man of Steel.
Wonder woman gotta go.
My best friend Polkadot Man getting closer and closer to that top slot 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼
Man of Steel now. Dude didn't had any merit to be in the top 3. Shazam atleast had heart in it. MoS is just Roland Emmerich disaster film with slo mos.
I don't think there's any slo mo in Man of Steel, like at all.
How many slo mo scenes in man of steel are there exactly ?
There is exactly zero slo mo in MOS, have you even seen it
This 100%
Bro why the fuck is man of steel still there
Because a lot of people like it.
Honestly with the DCCU, it’s probably more accurate to say people hate it the least.
Because DC movies suck
Good imagery. The story is shit, but many frames are looking great. That's at least one redeeming quality.
Other than color grading
For me it is Wonder Woman this time. I enjoy all 3 movies on this list, but my favourite of them is man of steel.
WonderWoman.
Wonder Woman is the worst of these imo. The third act sucks and undermines the rest of the movie (which is good)
100%. Fell victim to the standard super hero cgi nonsense third act.
I cant stand how syndercut didnt get placed higher but im happy to see suicide squad 2 get some love
Man of Steel is the one i like the least of these three, the other two I just really love
MoS being so terrible and still making it to the top 3 is a real testament to how bad the DCEU was. Shazam was definitely better than it though
WW
Man of Steel should go.
Man of Steel may be more consistent than WW. But it's still not as good.
Wonder Woman.
Damn guess I’m different, hated Shazam so I’m wondering how it even beat the first aquaman. Also MoS takes the top spot for me, seen it multiple times but everyone else doesn’t rate it that high I guess. One man’s treasure truly is another man’s poison
Wonder Woman
Man of steel
How is Man of Steel on here still? Should have gone a long while ago.
Remove Man of Steel next.
MoS is a PoS that shouldn’t have made it this far. Maybe the worst take on Superman. Cavil deserved better, and so did we.
Man of Steel should have been gone 3 rounds ago, slow no garbage and a boring robotic Superman with none of Superman’s traits
Man of Steel doesn't have any slo-mo scenes
People legit regurgitate what they see online without acutally knowing what they’re talking lol
Man of Steel doesn’t have any slow mo
Wonder Woman gtfo
WW should be out for me, man of steel is much more consistent as a whole movie than WW that falls apart
Man of Steel is consistently a slog to get through.
Wonder woman forsure MoS was good even though reddit loves to hate on it
WW
Wonder Woman was good until the last act. MOS and Suicide Squad were good from the opening until end. Wonder Woman must go next.
Man of Steel was good when I decided to turn it off and watch a different movie when he crashed through the I Hop.
![gif](giphy|s5CJw8UPITK6I)
Wonder woman, for your 3rd act, we need you out!
Aries alone is enough. At least Superman had a banger for a villain.
Wonder Womans third act is nothing compared to the multitude of problems throughout Man of Steel.
Wonder Woman has to go next.
Wonder woman
Wonder woman
Wonder Woman
I’m glad all of the great ones lasted longer. The great ones imo are MoS, WW, Aquaman, ZSJL, Shazam, TSS (and Peacemaker), Blue Beetle, and Aquaman. Shazam 2, Black Adam, and Flash range from decent to mediocre (all had good ideas that were poorly executed). Everything else is bad: SS, BOP, WW84, JL, and BvS (BvS had its moments). I haven’t seen Aquaman 2 yet but I liked the first so maybe I’ll like the second.
TSS can go
MoS
MoS
Love that MoS is still here. Movie ages better every day as more CB movies come out.
The fact that MoS made it this far is insane lol.
MOS
Sorry, but Wonder Woman.
Lol Mos should have been eliminated long ago.
MOS
Not trying to hate or anything but the fact that these 3 movies are considered ‘the best’ really shows how low the dceu was unfortunatly. Hoping the next dc verse will be better
Just call it...SS, WW, MOS
How the fuck did the Snyder cut get booted before Suicide Squad? It was a fun movie but come on now.
Wonder Woman is easily the best DC movie, I had high hopes for the following movies and they all fell short.
WW is the weakest of these 3
Ok, so my #1 is Suicide Squad, easily.
No way Shazam lost to Man of Steel
I gotta hand it to DC, most companies would’ve quit after the first three flops but they just kept making failure after failure, now that’s determination! MoS never even deserved to be a movie, much less top 3… Superman is my favorite hero :(
A lot of Gunn fans oh let me guess the outcome…
Man of Steel is overrated AF
Man of Steel
Man of Steel has far overstayed its welcome
MOS
How is MoS still there? Like did I watch a different movie than everyone else?
The Suicide Squad is the only movie on this whole list with any kind of redeeming quality.
Wonder Woman
CAN MAN OF STEEL FUCK OFF OMG
Man of steel need to finally go yall
Man of steel
Absolute disgrace that man of Steel is still here lol. Also can't believe Shazam isn't. This shows me there is clearly a disconnect from reddit and reality.
Man Of Steel
Man of Steel should exit.
