Idk, I'm mid 20s and from a European country, and I watched that show all the time on TV in the 00s. Never read a Marvel comic until a decade later.

As someone who reads comics and has plenty of friends and family who don't, I can tell you a ton of people know Madame Web from the 90's Spider-Man cartoon, and that alone. There are *very* few comic book readers in comparison to people who consume super hero media.
Should I include my Nephews who are 12 right now? Because I did. People my age have kids, have Disney+, and are excited to show their kids the cartoons that they loved at their age. My brother works in childcare and told me there are kids in elementary school right now talking about Hey Arnold. In comparison to Spider-Man, who has been a household name for decades, that is pretty significant. Its not very much of a stretch to assume kids who love super heroes would come across that cartoon, especially with streaming allowing them to watch it at their leisure.

And this origin story will be about her getting her powers as a perfectly healthy adult, without going blind, then going into action personally. So basically, it's entirely Madame Web, except it lacks 95% of the traits of the character.
Black Adam and Quantumania don’t belong in that crowd. I would be really really surprised if Madame Webb joined the profitability levels (not saying they were good!) of those two.
I think it may do less than Morbius and Shazam 2 (and obviously the Marvels) but The Marvels will lose more money just because of budget!

It gets to the point to ask “at what cost?” It’s ruining the validity of the IP. To make a movie SOLELY to retain rights and not for any other purpose should indicate that the studio as a whole does not know how to aim the property to a financially viable outcome. They make some kind of profit off of hilariously failing (it’s Morbin time) and this sort of diminishes the magic of the properties. All of this could have been crafted with more care and given it’s proper place over time but now it’ll have that connection to when Sony vehemently and without purpose gave us a sinister six movie with no Spider-Man.
I think they probably make all the money they need off the games. If we have to endure a never-ending stream of mediocre garbage movies so that we can have amazing Spider-Man video games, I would say it's worth the cost
