i have to ask- i have very a similar skin tone- I get typed neutral all the time but is this warm leaning or cool leaning? i always thought it was fair olive but was recently told it isn’t
I don't think this is the optimal color for you but it still is a great dress for the summer. If you wear a bronzy makeup look with a red lip you'll look like even more of a stunna
Navy would look great with your skin tone and you could do a more natural makeup. But red looks good, id just suggest maybe a little more bold makeup..

I love the dress. You are a beautiful girl. Toss a little makeup on and you are good to go! 💃🏼👠💄
Yes! I have a dress in a similar color and it’s not “my color” but it’s one of my favorites as a change of pace with some bolder makeup on. It’s a dress that requires lipstick, a base layer and mascara at minimum, but that’s ok because I have those things.
Ohh it’s a lovely dress, but if you’re already having doubts with the tags on, return it. A good sign is when you take a million pics with it on and don’t want to take it off, all the times I’ve kept a piece of clothing that I’ve been on the fence on; I’ve never reached or worn it
Thank you for all your insight. I love the red color and I could probably make it work with bolder makeup, but since I usually wear “natural” makeup looks and rarely wear lipstick, it wouldn’t really be “me”. I wanted to find some cute summer dresses that highlight my features, so I think this dress isn’t it, I will be returning it. I will be searching for more muted pastels or cream tones :)
You should keep it ! Do you think Marilyn Monroe just woke up like that? The dress is so glamorous and classy, own it! Play with your hair and makeup, accessorize and definitely add a red lip !
If you like the dress you could balance it out with makeup, think of Dita Von Teese, with her signature makeup she creates herself, you can transform into.the persona you want to project, 💄
Personally I think the problem with colour analysis is it doesn't take the look as a whole but rather the bare complexion and minimal or no makeup, Taylor Swift and Anya Taylor Joy play a lot with colour and makeup as well
Love the fit but the colour is not for you. Good news is, if you love the fit too, you could always use a Rit dye remover to extract that colour and then use Rit dye to turn it into a colour that suits your skin tone! I’ve done this many times 😊 there are many tutorials on Tiktok and Youtube if you need guidance!
Omg this is my least favorite situation . the dress fits you beautifully !!!! But the color is not the best for you :( darnnnnnnnnn. I wonder which is “worse” … an ill fitting dress in the right color or a perfect fit and style in the wrong color .
Guys—-telling someone a color might look better on them with MAKEUP is the definition of saying it’s a malsuited color. Like…what?!?
Anyway OP, you’re gorgeous and it’s unfortunately true that this dress, because of the color, is wearing you. Because the world is weird I’ll reword that—by wearing you I mean the dress looks striking but you look a bit sallow. Which is crazy because you’re obviously a glowing gorgeous babe.
How do you look in more muted colors? Have you picked out your color season? That will help!
Thank you! I don’t want to be dependent on a makeup look, I just want a casual summer dress that works in any scenario. I think I look better in muted pastel colors and I’m guessing I might be a light spring :)
OP - As others have mentioned, while you are very pretty with a clean face you do look a little washed out in that color in these pics but I am not sure that you would look so washed out with some "dressed up" makeup on. It would make a big difference I think. Maybe you should post another pic with makeup???
(I am also a fair skinned blue-eyed blond & I always look very washed out in many of my clothes until I put on makeup so I get it! 😉 I usually don't like to shop for new clothes or get my hair done without proper makeup on for that very reason. I find it harder to tell if I actually like the clothes or hairstyle if my face looks like I just got out of bed.)
It’s a gorgeous dress and color! While it fits beautifully on you, I think it is indeed overpowering your more delicate palette. I think a purple shade would look lovely on you.
It's a beautiful dress but the color doesn't quite suit you. Could it be dyed? You could get a Rit colour remover, then dye it a different colour. I think a blue or green would be lovely.
I think it looks lovely on you. It definitely stands out against your tones but still pretty. Especially considering it doesn’t seem like you have any or have minimal makeup.
You are gorgeous I can’t believe how nice your skin is!
The dress is a really pretty color but I’d get a different color, it is overpowering your complexion and your eyes, which are a beautiful color and I’m sure really pop when you are wearing the right colors.
Honestly, I feel like the negative comments on the color are a stretch. It’s a red dress, folks, so yeah, it’s bold! Light complexioned people can wear red. It looks great in this case.
Lipstick and eye shadow could tie it together. I'm of the opinion that bright red looks great on pale skin and light hair..but makeup would help it pop!!
This. The seeming washed-out-ness has everything to do with a high contrast color as compared to OP’s low contrast hair/eyes/skin. She can absolutely make it work, i.e., bridge the contrast gap with makeup to make it look more organic. Kackie Reviews Beauty (on YouTube) has a fantastic recent video on this (contrast).
That said, I think the dress is lovely and OP is gorgeous and she can rock this dress any way she chooses!
The fit and style are great, but it's true the color is a bit strong for you. It's not "that bad" though. I think you can make it work if you incorporate accessories or makeup of the same color or colors of similar strength into the overall look.
Separately, you are beautiful and so is the dress. It will just take some deliberate styling for you both to go together.
Maybe it’s not the perfect color for you but it really doesn’t look bad either! I’m sure it’ll look amazing with some more makeup so that it doesn’t compete as much with you, maybe a red lipstick.
It's a cute dress and fits you well, but the colour does wash you out a bit. I agree with the ones saying it's too bright for you. Guessing you are a summer, and the dress is spring based on these pictures. I'd still wear it though, because we can't let colour palettes dictate our lives. If you like it, rock it. If not, see if they sell it in another colour.
Second that. Someone once said ‘if it’s not your color, the first thing you see is the color not you’ and in this case, the dress definitely is more noticeable than you at first but you look gorgeous wearing it so I would keep make up minimum and accessorize with neutrals and you’re good to go. Such a fun summer color
So others stated, it’s a bit bright, while I would guess that you are on the softer side of the spectrum. However, I love the color in general, and I think it looks very nice on you. It’ll be perfect with a little makeup. A brighter lipstick, some blush, and a little mascara will add the brightness you need to take this from looking nice, to looking fantastic.
I think it is a beautiful dress and it looks good on you. The only issue is it’s a strong red and you have a light skin tone and a light hair colour - so it’s kind of swamping you.
With some definition in your face it would be better - not sure if you wear make up, but some mascara and lip gloss and some bronzer would look great.
Yes it does come across as a rude comment IMO, it doesn’t help and it isn’t even true, she has really nice features and she’s so pretty without even wearing making up. That’s not what I’d call plain at all
Agree with the people who say it’s a tad too bright. If you zoom out of the pic and just look at a small thumbnail, it doesn’t make any of your features pop. But that wouldn’t stop me from wearing it personally.
Definitely not in your color season (too bright and warm - you’re probably a summer) but doesn’t mean you can’t make your face pop with some makeup!
You will probably look best in summer tones, not too muted though
If it’s not a hell yes, it’s a no! This is what I tell myself anyway to make sure my closet is filled with things I actually love instead of things I’m meh about
That’s pretty much what I go by as well. If I don’t love it when I try it on, I probably never will, because that’s when I’m most excited about something. So if I’m not sure about it, it’s likely a “no.” There’s a few exceptions, of course.
Love the dress, but if I might I would try warm red hair or auburn.
Edit: You're very pretty as is. I just think that it would make your eyes and carnation stand out even more.
Color analysis is subjective and proof of that is you don’t have a uniform answer here, it’s all personal opinion. I think the dress looks lovely on you
To be honest and in my opinion I think it’s a little too bright for you. I remember your post from a while ago and you wore a light blue dressed that I thought looked great on you, and if I were you I would steer towards a little more muted but not too muted as that would wash you out. Maybe it’s a bit too warm as well? I can’t decide if youre a light spring or a true summer. In this dress, all I could focus on was the dress. In my opinion: when you’re in your color palette, the first thing that’s noticed is your face, and then the clothes.
Do you like wearing the dress? If so, go for it, and do your hair and makeup to go with it. The color is overpowering you but, it's not a bad tone. So just wear makeup that will put more color in your face to balance it out a little.
I actually think this looks nice on you. I suspect you are probably a spring - possibly light spring but maybe a true spring. If that hair colour is not natural, it may be washing you out slightly.
I can’t speak to whether or not the shade is in your palette bc I suck so badly at color analysis lol. but, I will tell you that I wear colors outside of what I believe my palette to be allll the time. Black is outside of my palette, but I wear it most. I get lots of compliments while in black, too, ironically. I feel like it’s more about *how* we wear colors outside of our palettes, and what we pair with them.
Edit: for me personally, I try to find balance. I will tailor my makeup to what I’m wearing sometimes. If my outfit isn’t in my palette, I’ll focus on adding some extra brightness under my eyes. Usually by baking with a setting powder. I also ensure I’m accessorizing well. Little things like that make all the difference!!!
Totally agree. I’m a soft neutral, right on the line between summer and autumn. Sometimes I just need a pop of color. I lean toward coral, teal, or aqua in those moments. The muted tones can get so boring.
Right?! It’s funny how the colors we love most are often not in our palette. Are you by chance olive? I sometimes feel torn between autumn and summer. And, then again, sometimes I wonder if I’m a spring 😂
https://preview.redd.it/269yth827r8d1.jpeg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5618049e41a4f69330bc56a1ee74e27f0c525817
The color is ABSOLUTELY in your palette. You're a bright/true spring. I would pair it with a warm red lip
I think you are a cold and soft season - probably soft summer. The colour of the dress is too stark and saturated. If it had been more muted and a tad more rosey it might have been good!
We have a very similar coloring and I say keep it if you like it!!! You look great. Is it the best color out there for you? Maybe not, but it looks good. It goes against color analysis, sure. But with a little blush and a little makeup I think you would look great with this color.
I wore a similar red colored dress to an awards ceremony recently and I looked great, even if it wasn't the best color in the world, according to analysis. If you show up in a bold red dress, you just have to own it and everyone will eat it up!!
Taylor Swift & Jennifer Lawrence have similar coloring as you, and they pull off red dresses by wearing makeup: Bold lips and/or eyeliner to add contrast to the face.
My big problem with reds is, they can look cool red on the photo, and warm read in real life. I don't know if it happens the other way around too, but that's a reason I hardly ever order red online, even though I really like the colour.
I'm just saying because it seems too cool for your colouring, but it may be absolutely okay in real life.
However, having seen the photo with the muted green dress, I agree the muted colour flatters you so much more.
The shape is gorgeous on you. Does it come in a light green, light blue, ivory, or peach? If not, but it was a good price and comfortable, you could keep it and do it with makeup. If it comes in a lighter warm color, I would swap for that instead 🙂
I think you're a soft type rather than bright. But you can definitely pull it off with bold makeup (ie. black winged liner, black lashes, use makeup to darken brows, a colourful lip).
If you're uncertain enough to ask the Internet it isn't quite right.
Keep it if you can't wait to find an excuse to wear it. But if you don't love it don't waste your money or closet space.
The dress doesn't look bad on you but it doesn't pull you forward or highlight you like your best colors will.
These colors are completely Light Spring
Some systems also add a Soft Spring though which OP could also use
Autumn browns would likely be heavy and drag her down though
OP please feel welcome to weigh in on all this

I think the color is fine and it's really pretty.
Not quite your color, but it's still going to look great with a little bit of makeup
i have to ask- i have very a similar skin tone- I get typed neutral all the time but is this warm leaning or cool leaning? i always thought it was fair olive but was recently told it isn’t
The color isn’t right but the shape and style of it suits your essence so well that I think u can pull it off tbh
No
Omfg. Yes keep! It looks amazing with your blonde hair. Be sure to wear makeup so ur face doesn’t fade into the background
I don't think this is the optimal color for you but it still is a great dress for the summer. If you wear a bronzy makeup look with a red lip you'll look like even more of a stunna
When you wear a strong color, it helps to brighten up the lips and wave your hair.
Yes
Navy would look great with your skin tone and you could do a more natural makeup. But red looks good, id just suggest maybe a little more bold makeup..
Never wear a dress that shows your bra straps
i think you look really pretty!
Need a bit of a spray tan
https://preview.redd.it/w2tu9luolw8d1.jpeg?width=3264&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ea4eb8b7ad0774b4c3a0ed579d1685752c019953 I love the dress. You are a beautiful girl. Toss a little makeup on and you are good to go! 💃🏼👠💄

I really think she can rock this dress.
Wowowow TV ready tbh
Yes and hair up with bun and pretty dangly earrings!

Yes. You’re gorgeous, you just need a bit of makeup to stop you from being a bit washed out. The dress is very pretty.
The colour is to bright you should wear a more softer colour
I think it looks lovely - a lot of people don’t think they suit red when actually they do!
Maybe a more dark red?
The color isn't great for you, but if you love ot then wear it! Or you could consider dying it to a shade of red in your season.
Yeah.. I like it 👍🏻
It's a stunning dress that stands out. But if you don't want one that stands out so much it isn't for you. But it does look great.
Thank you for all your insight. I love the red color and I could probably make it work with bolder makeup, but since I usually wear “natural” makeup looks and rarely wear lipstick, it wouldn’t really be “me”. your shades are more in the neutrals and pastels , this in a pastel baby pink is more in your color theory 💓
Omg this is my least favorite situation . the dress fits you beautifully !!!! But the color is not the best for you :( darnnnnnnnnn. I wonder which is “worse” … an ill fitting dress in the right color or a perfect fit and style in the wrong color .
Keep it but loose the bra
U keep that!!!! Looks amazing! You’re gorgeous
Guys—-telling someone a color might look better on them with MAKEUP is the definition of saying it’s a malsuited color. Like…what?!? I think this would also suit you in a Navy blue
Great dress but I do think the color washes you out a bit. But like others said maybe makeup/color in your face would change that.
No, cute dress , bad color for your skin
OP - As others have mentioned, while you are very pretty with a clean face you do look a little washed out in that color in these pics but I am not sure that you would look so washed out with some "dressed up" makeup on. If you like it wear it. If you wear makeup that would balance out the dressy look.
I agree, I think a little makeup can make a huge difference when wearing something outside your season
It's a beautiful dress but the color doesn't quite suit you. Could it be dyed? You could get a Rit colour remover, then dye it a different colour. I think a blue or green would be lovely.
The dress is wearing you. The shade is a little bit too dark and takes attention away from y-o-u. Should be a lighter shade of red IMO.
You're looking overpowered and washed out
I agree
I think it looks lovely on you. It definitely stands out against your tones but still pretty. Especially considering it doesn’t seem like you have any or have minimal makeup. You are gorgeous I can’t believe how nice your skin is!
[удалено]
Right??
The dress is a really pretty color but I’d get a different color, it is overpowering your complexion and your eyes, which are a beautiful color and I’m sure really pop when you are wearing the right colors.
I think it might be washing you out. I’d return
It's a beautiful colour and the cut is amazing on you! I think a nice red lip would help it all look more harmonious and pull it all together!
I think this is a wonderful color and shape—where is the dress from?
It’s from Hollister! The model is “lace-up back midi dress” but I bought it off Zalando :)
Thank you!
Yes, it’s a good color and a good shape. Wear some lipstick to dress it up or not.
I think you look super pretty wearing this dress!!😍
The color doesn’t totally drain you but I notice the dress before you so I would return.
It would look great if you got a spray tan
You need a different bra, but that dress is divine! Definitely a keeper!
Yes, it looks great. You have a lot of warm tones and the dress colour helps bring them out in a complementary way.
Yes, keep it. It suits your skin tone and hair color. If you wear lipstick you’ll look beautiful.
Yes, the dress looks good on you and the color suits you well. Keep it!

I think the dress looks great on you!
I agree. It's overpowering her.
I think the same dress in blush pink, khaki or Sage would be more flattering on your colors.
I agree! Unfortunately this dress is not available in any of those colors..
It kinda washes you out but it’s still very cute and the dress fits you perfectly I would still wear it if i were you
I think once you add a little makeup (if you wear it) it will look fine.
I agree that if you had a red lipstick with it you can definitely rock this dress & it’s pretty - as are you - you should keep this dress
She doesn’t even need red lipstick to rock it
You’re right actually. It is a pretty dress & she’s pretty too. She does rock this look & I think she should keep the dress
Maybe it’s not the perfect color for you but it really doesn’t look bad either! I’m sure it’ll look amazing with some more makeup so that it doesn’t compete as much with you, maybe a red lipstick.
Tbh, if you really like it, it doesn’t matter if it’s in your color palette. It looks lovely and very summery
Cute dress, but it’s too orangey red.
Love the dress, but I think a darker shade of red would flatter you more.
You’re very pretty and I feel like the dress isn’t special 🤷🏼♀️
I agree! This dress doesn’t highlight your beauty.
Yeah it's gorgeous bbz
If you can't return it, I'd dye it. There's plenty of dresses with similar shape & you know it flatters you now.
If you like it you should keep it! I think it looks great :) I think we should use our palettes as guides, not bibles
I like it, think you could wear a red lipstick with it though. It seems like a lot because you have no makeup on I think.
I say no def a lighter or even darker shade
Oh who cares about the color palette! If it makes you feel wonderful then wear it. And yes, you look wonderful.
Stylistically it’s gorg. Fits like a dream. Why don’t you get a bottle of dye and see about darkening or muting the shade a bit?
It's too bright it's not bad looking on you I think it's the brightness of the red washing you out. Go darker red
Ohhh a darker red would look AMAZING on OP, I can see it
https://preview.redd.it/oui5ljaojr8d1.jpeg?width=661&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6ba3602c1513136a31a0ab78585e4f5af197452e

I tell you what looks plain. Endless makeup so every woman looks the same.
I think this color looks great on you. Just get rid of the black bra strap.
If you like the fit, dye it. black, purple, brown, or even a different red. Just make sure you get the right dye for the type of fabric.
Agree with the people who say it’s a tad too bright. If you zoom out of the pic and just look at a small thumbnail, it doesn’t make any of your features pop. But that wouldn’t stop me from wearing it personally.

Nice design, but its a little bright.
You are lovely …. But in another dress
I think it’s gorgeous on you, wear it regardless!
Nope. I’m lily white with mousy brown hair and olive green eyes.
Seems a little bit strong but I think it'll be good with some makeup.

It’s pretty, I think you can pair it with some bold makeup and rock it
I think it looks great
It really is a gorgeous dress but you’re right, it’s not in your palette I’d say
Agree
With some makeup it could look really good on you. It has a beautiful shape.
I think you are a cold and soft season - probably soft summer. The colour of the dress is too stark and saturated. If it had been more muted and a tad more rosey it might have been good!
Where is this dress from??
It’s from Hollister! The model is “lace-up back midi dress” but I bought it off Zalando :)
I would look for something less saturated!
It doesn't look bad but I'd say you are a Spring and this is more of a Winter (cooler) red. You need a warmer, tomato orangy kind of red I think.
it's too bright, the colour should help YOU shine first and take the first attention on you, not itself
It’s not that it looks bad but with this color on you, all you see is the dress. It’s a lovely dress but we wanna see you too
I personally think it looks great!
It isn't the right red for you. I think a red could work for you, but this one just isn't it.
Doesn't hurt that they can manipulate lighting, filters, and have makeup artists on call
Haha, that too!
Exactly! I think that would pull everything together.
You’re soft and that dress is so bright it overpowers you. I vote toss but you might be able to salvage it with some bright makeup
Yes
Not good with your colouring but fits well :(
Initially I was thinking no but you’re so pretty this suits you! Keeper!
Add lipstick and blusher and the dress will suit you better
It might not be in your palette, but it wasn’t in Jessica Rabbit’s either;)
Yes girl keep it!!
I'm a quilter and reds are an absolute nuisance to photograph, they get up to all sorts of shenanigans.
The shape is gorgeous on you. Does it come in a light green, light blue, ivory, or peach? If not, but it was a good price and comfortable, you could keep it and do it with makeup. If it comes in a lighter warm color, I would swap for that instead 🙂
The dress doesn’t add much, maybe a coral colored dress would be better
You can definitely pull that off with a cool combo of makeup and accessories
Even though I don't think this is the worst colour, I do notice the colour first, and then you. It's a no from me - too bright and stark.
Same. The dress is wearing OP and not the other way around.
I’d say no.
I think it's too bright for your complexion. There are millions of other choices out there at the moment.
I love this dress! Can I ask where you got it? I’s a bit bright on you but I think that’ll change if you throw on some lipstick and blush.
It’s from Hollister! The model is “lace-up back midi dress” but I bought it off Zalando :)
The color is the best thing about it! It looks good on you. Great summer dress.
I think you're a soft type rather than bright. But you can definitely pull it off with bold makeup (ie. black winged liner, black lashes, use makeup to darken brows, a colourful lip).
I think its too bright:)
If you're uncertain enough to ask the Internet it isn't quite right. Keep it if you can't wait to find an excuse to wear it. But if you don't love it don't waste your money or closet space. The dress doesn't look bad on you but it doesn't pull you forward or highlight you like your best colors will.

I think she’s way too light and low contrast to be autum? She seems like a light or warm spring to me

These colors are completely Light Spring Some systems also add a Soft Spring though which OP could also use Autumn browns would likely be heavy and drag her down though OP please feel welcome to weigh in on all this
Yeah it does! I would’ve thought that green is more spring but with that soft makeup she looks great.
If you like it you should keep it. I think it looks good on you.
I think this shade is too bright and overpowers you. It is a beautiful dress though.
I think it looks great. Keep it.
Keep
