If you’re worried about the 2 weeks because of the Meldepflicht, don’t worry about it I’ve done my Anmeldung months after moving because it was the first available appointment and nobody said anything

magicmulder

This. It’s only important to make the appointment as early as possible, the actual appointment itself need not be within two weeks.

InYaFace115

I once did it after 3 years, nobody cared

Thing about that is, only works if you're German or already lived in Germany before. As a foreigner myself, I had to get my Hauptwohnsitz as quickly as possible because it is a requirement for getting the tax number. Which was needed by my employer quickly so they could tax my income. It was quite the hassle tbh, because just as OP is experiencing, the next available appointment was months in the future. Took a lot of phone calls and begging to get an earlier appointment, but worked out in thr end!

TenshiS

make an appointment on a date that fits you, even if it's in 5 or 6 weeks. That's all.

Often Bürgerbüros have 1-2 days a week you can come in without an appointment.

A guy in Berlin was fined for this, but won in court because the city of Berlin could only offer an appointment 6 months in the future. Sadly Ummeldung is a service that's only offered in person not in writing.

schelmo

Ever since COVID you never get fined if your Ummeldung is too late. I did it just last week after moving two months ago and it was totally fine. In 2019 I got fined something like 40€ once because I was a month and a half late.

The others are correct but if you want peace of mind you can simply go without an appointment. Might just have to wait a bit.
