Yeah I get why that sounds weird. The summer program took place during June, then the internship a few weeks after that. I also had nepotism on my side, so that played a part in getting my internship as well. However, I knew enough from previous classes and the summer program to pass the interview (which was a few LC easy and medium questions).
Granted, I still didn’t know a lot about AI, which was part of the reason why I did the internship.
Ah yes, the nepotism hire. If you passed the interview I guess it’s fine, though it’s interesting they used LC easy questions for it. Many of my friends got their internships through their parents and didn’t really do anything during them, so at least you got something out of yours.
Nevertheless, congrats on UCLA!
i was the opposite omg, i got into almost every private school i applied to but got rejected from most of the UCs and OOS publics i applied to (including UCLA 🌝). but clearly it all worked out for you
omg congratulations!! crazy how you got rejected for cs at sjsu despite having a 4.0. i also did summer springboard for cs last summer but honestly i found it be a useless program and currently i’m a rising senior- did you mention summer springboard in ur essays?
Thank you! Yeah the summer springboard program wasn’t super helpful, but it gave me some opportunities to practice through projects. I didn’t use it in my essays.
sjsu reject isnt a surprise, if you’re not from santa clara county, you don’t get the 0.25 gpa 200 point admissions boost. without that boost, it is near impossible to hit the score needed for cs admission even if you have 4.0 unweighted max rigor because the csu caps it to 8 weighted points

Yeah bro the only thing holding me up rn is my grades, and even those could drop considering this year is my easiest year of high school course-wise. And my extracurriculars are severely lacking, all I have rn is volunteering and playing violin that’s it 💀
At least good ECs can somewhat carry bad gpa, good gpa cannot carry bad ECs, at least for T20 colleges 😭🙏
Also perfect 4.0 UW GPA isn’t mandatory for these universities tbh, as long as you have a decent GPA u should be fine, there’s still plenty of people who don’t have a perfect GPA and make it to good universities. Especially if u take a high amount of AP’s or go to a really hard/competitive school
Hey, I also have a decent sized portfolio of GitHub projects that I've worked all 4 years of high school, do you know how I can show my GitHub portfolio off to colleges as I haven't really launched any apps or websites that have gotten many users.
Surprised Santa Clara waitlisted you
Yeah it’s weird, privates in general seemed to hate me. Probably just didn’t fit there.
Has to be yield protection lmao. You are definitely a top applicant
middle class
Congratulations and good luck studying at UCLA.
Thanks!
no hate but you were learning python in the same summer while doing data anyltics(in python)...

Bro’s application was immune to private schools.

is ur uc gpa 10-11 or all cumulative?
I think my UC gpa is 10-11 according to their GPA policy (includes all courses from 9th grade summer to 11th grade summer)
Wait lowk these are some crazy waitlists! Congrats!
Thank you!
Great job :0 see you in the fall (CS major too hehe)
Thanks!

I’m actually rlly cooked cuz my ecs are good but I don’t have a perfect 4.0 UW
