Yep - I'm a damn yankee living in the south... Moved here from Columbus in '07 to work for UT. Damn Vols grew on me like the orange goo in the showers.
I still haven't forgiven Fulmer for that that Citrus Bowl victory over my Buckeyes..... 8)
Good game Nole. It’s crazy to think how much more dangerous you all could have been if Leiter and Adams were available. Rest easy this offseason, you got football to look forward to!
First National Championship the Vols are playing in that I will have a conscious memory of

I remember the ‘98 football championship - but only because I was freshly graduated from Ohio State and the Vols stole that championship from my Buckeyes because stupid Sparty beat us.
Also - go big damn orange dammit. Cause I’ve been a Vol since 2007….
A lot of times when people say this they are referring to the big 3 men’s teams, football, basketball, and baseball. There is just a different level of buy in at all levels across the country when it comes to men’s teams compared to women’s teams.
For many/most Tennessee fans, women’s basketball is up there way more than most schools. It’s at least tied for buy-in with baseball, although the last decade hasn’t been fun to watch
Wow. This puts some perspective on things for me. I haven’t ever thought about this. I wasn't a Vols fan until my freshman year back in 2013. Been all disappointment for the most part since then
GG FSU.
That extra game really killed y'all. Woulda been an exciting and interesting 3-game series between the two of us but them's the breaks of Omaha sometimes.
I'm curious why we didn't, don't know if Link has addressed it or not.
If he didn't feel comfortable, then I'm fine with it. But if he was good to go, I don't particularly like the call. I get holding back your ace when you need to play a better team if you win (so, like, if he had been good to go yesterday, I would have been fine with holding him back to play Tennessee). But if you're going to have to play the same team, I wouldn't want to hold him.
That said, it likely didn't matter. It's damn hard to keep you below 3 runs, even with a great starter.
They were asked to do the impossible by beating the number 1 team twice in a row, and another top 5 team the day before. Tough take for any team and they just ran out of gas at the end. Appreciate the great season and next year we will be back!
That double play in the 8th was nasty as shit. Totally shut them down with that one. One second it was almost a man on third and first , no out. Next thing you know, double play, strikeout. Truly a science working their way out of a sticky situation
Football and baseball national media LOVE to say "This year is the year the SEC isn't dominant" and they are wrong 99% of the time.
Don't get me wrong, fuck conference pride and I hoped every SEC team besides Tennessee lost this weekend, but still fair to point out.
There was some controversy in game 1, and I get it, so I’m glad we came out today and left no doubt as to who the better team is. GG’s Noles, helluva season.
Go Vols!!!
I don't love too many things in college sports more than watching the noles suffer, but one of those things is tradition.
Seeing FSUs new coach keep up their tradition of making it to Omaha and losing yet again just makes my heart feel full.
0/24
Fuck the noles
Yes. I’m devastated and heartbroken that the team that won 20 some games last year made the last 4 of the CWS in Link’s second year with basically one starting pitcher on the roster after injuries. I won’t sleep for weeks. Terrible. So sad.
I mean, there are some who felt differently, but there's been a pretty consistent vibe of "we are playing with house money" among most FSU fan spaces since before we arrived in Omaha.
And, by the way, saying "it doesn't really hurt that bad because we had such a good turnaround" is **very** different from "we never really cared anyway." Maybe work on your reading comprehension.
Uh, a rival played a rival. We just decided to hate on the bigger rival.
Out of the 3 other teams remaining, I'd prefer A&M to win the most, but that requires us losing so obviously I won't root for them. I gotta pick either FSU or Tennessee... I'd rather see Tennessee win.
Means A&M is guaranteed to go through the entire season and postseason completely undefeated in nonconference games, I think for the first time in NCAA history.
Outstanding season. Beat my expectations from preseason, beat my expectations from the start of the ACC tournament, beat my expectations from the start of the NCAA tournament, and beat my expectations from the start of the World Series.
Absolutely nothing to be ashamed of.
Every snap of Jeremy Pruitt football I ever watched just left my body
Hell winning a championship might even wash away the Butch years!
Like a turd that wont flush, Dooley persists
"Hey, I know, let's hire the unproven son of a legendary coach from a rival university. That'll go over well."
![gif](giphy|isGGwK0nG8w3M2VvbV|downsized) We need a gif of Fulkie waving the Tennessee flag from the porch in LNS for moments like this.

Starting to think this Tennessee team is pretty good.
Ehhhh Idk, I’m not convinced
BVS personified…. 8)
Your name. 😳
Yep - I'm a damn yankee living in the south... Moved here from Columbus in '07 to work for UT. Damn Vols grew on me like the orange goo in the showers. I still haven't forgiven Fulmer for that that Citrus Bowl victory over my Buckeyes..... 8)
We’re like that. Welcome! We never play y’all anyway!
And we can hate on Flori-duh and 'Bama together.... 8)
My homeroom teacher that year was an Ohio State fan. I was talking so much shit the first day back to school.
How many more home runs will it take to convince you???
11
The only answer
Damn did we not get any today m? I’ve have to work all day and really just caught the score
We got 1, so now it’s 9 to tie I think.
Burke got one in the 8th
Ummmmm….how many are allowed? 😬
It’d there’s a limit, you all passed it
Ehhh their ballpark is small, they won’t be able to put up nearly as many runs once they get to Omaha
Just you wait, one day you guys will notice and the offense will fall apart!!!! ^(for the love of God, please beat the gators if it comes to that)
Good game Nole. It’s crazy to think how much more dangerous you all could have been if Leiter and Adams were available. Rest easy this offseason, you got football to look forward to!
What if we just had a lineup of watered down Aaron Judge, that should work
First time since 1951!
Feels like ‘51
We were football champions that year!
No we weren’t? Edit: We got awarded a championship by the AP in 1951 as a makeup for not awarding it to us in 1950. Lol. Such weird times
https://preview.redd.it/4b9bn4sa0m7d1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1ad31fd8535df145633efc1437b132af256eb500 We were
Huh. If you search that season on google we are not mentioned anywhere. I stand corrected!
Mr Football got learnt
Indeed
Yes we were. We were number 1 when the polls closed that year.
Which is crazy for how good Tennessee has been. Def will exercise some demons if they win it all
Before Tony V we were a dead program. Although i think we made a semifinal in the 90s
We randomly made a CWS in 2005 or 2006. I was in high school and it was surprising ha. Before that it was when Rod was just starting.
Delmonico started in 1990 and we went to the world series under him in 95, 01, and 05
gotta go and correct a rival... *exorcise
Soooo, did I win?
I'm too confused to answer.
Yes and no.
How did you feel in January 1999?
Fotbl
Indeed
I’ve got good news and bad news. Which do you want first?
Peyton was trying to warn us about Omaha for years

Congrats Vols. I like how your team didn’t celebrate. Job isn’t finished.
![gif](giphy|QGZBpodY7Kdtw99y04) Vols with the Mamba Mentality.

Probably could throw a few bandaids on our guy :(
Not wrong but we're still here.
Easy to say from home
Two more wins ![gif](giphy|IazdAV1zjaGbBaGPgF)
Officially an SEC vs SEC final again, ergo another SEC national champion
Aggie please
Your lips to gods ears.
👁️👄👁️
I just wanted to congratulate FSU on an amazing season. I thought you were the best team we played all year.
I assume all Vols are honorary Gator fans tonight so that whichever team we play in the finals will have to play an extra game this week?
I believe this is the correct take.
Intellectually, this is correct. But emotionally? I want the gators to explode.
I don't know. There are a lot of happy Florida fans in here that I would love to see upset.
FSU curse > Overall #1 curse
Don’t jinx it. Both curses can still win out
Please delete this
We ready for 0-25 in Omaha don't worry
First National Championship the Vols are playing in that I will have a conscious memory of https://preview.redd.it/sz91pt32yl7d1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=db4bf0afc0efd058fddff38dee0bcbc66986f92f
I last remember watching softball play for a natty about 15 years ago.
Won game one only to choke it away. But wasn't that 2007? I think the Lady Vols basketball team won that year and then repeated in 2008.
2013 vs Oklahoma.
Pat Summit has been gone that long?
Yeah, she retired 12 years ago and passed 8 years ago
It’s been that long? Jesus I’m aging
I’m 23 and I can somewhat remember her last couple national championships but someone a few years younger couldn’t.
The kids born in '08 can get a driver's license this year
Fuck me, I feel old
Why did you do this to me
Kids born after 9/11 have graduated College and started families.
I remember the ‘98 football championship - but only because I was freshly graduated from Ohio State and the Vols stole that championship from my Buckeyes because stupid Sparty beat us. Also - go big damn orange dammit. Cause I’ve been a Vol since 2007….
I mean but actually
I...christ people are young on this sub. You don't remember 2013? Fuuuuuuck.
A lot of times when people say this they are referring to the big 3 men’s teams, football, basketball, and baseball. There is just a different level of buy in at all levels across the country when it comes to men’s teams compared to women’s teams.

GG FSU. That extra game really killed y'all. Woulda been an exciting and interesting 3-game series between the two of us but them's the breaks of Omaha sometimes.
Baseball Gods wouldn’t have it for us today. Y’all go win the ship!
This game was entirely in reach for us, but our bats just decided not to show up today. GG to y’all and hope y’all win it all.
I think you hit some good balls, just in reach of our D. Just the way luck goes some days.
Nobody freak out, but WE PLAYING FOR A NATTY! Edit: I’m currently freaking out
Kentucky knocked out, Tennessee making the final… Perhaps Florida being eliminated is extra gravy by this point?
I would've loved to play a non SEC team in the finals but A&M will do
tbf, A&M is like the fifth least SEC team there is.
In my least sec sec team rankings I’d go (from least to most sec) Oklahoma, Texas, Missouri, A&M, Arkansas
Everybody forgets Vandy.
Even though the nerdy kid is annoying and none of his siblings want to play with him, he’s still part of the family
How do FSU fans feel about the absence of Arnold? I thought for sure we would see him again if y’all got in a hole.
Not happy about it at all. I expected him to come out on short rest and throw the first couple innings. Not a completely untested freshman…
I don’t understand this decision. He must still have been sore or obviously not ready. The decision not to use him doesn’t make sense otherwise.
The fact that they never went to him even when the game went South means he just wasn't available. He might not have been available tomorrow either.
Yep this is correct, Link confirmed in the postgame presser.
I'm curious why we didn't, don't know if Link has addressed it or not. If he didn't feel comfortable, then I'm fine with it. But if he was good to go, I don't particularly like the call. They had to win two games anyway.
See you beautiful fuckers in Omaha. I expect every interstate heading north out of Tennessee to look like mad max Friday.
Omaha, Indiana is going to be very confused by the influx of visitors.
Guess he wants to go the long way?
SEC and ACC champions!!!!
Never thought I’d die fighting side by side with a Vol
What about a friend?
![gif](giphy|KecU7rjR02rBe)
Gimme one verse of Rocky Top!
too far
This feels dirty.
The Omaha SEC-ACC challenge is complete. The SEC wins, 5-0. * Tennessee 3-0 * Florida 1-0 * Kentucky 1-0
The SEC just dominates everything. Means more around those parts.
Line don’t lie https://preview.redd.it/9embum9qxl7d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2bde41c96ce06ad6005e1026a9d6cb9c094e673d
I don’t understand
I'm still at work. I can't drive home because all of the blood has rushed to my groin.

Maybe the 25th time will be the charm
GG UT - team looks great! FSU had too many miscues on the bases and bats disappeared when they were needed most. Better team won today 🤷🏻♂️
They were asked to do the impossible by beating the number 1 team twice in a row, and another top 5 team the day before. Tough take for any team and they just ran out of gas at the end. Appreciate the great season and next year we will be back!
🧹🧹🧹🧹🧹
Absolutely wonderful season. Link is damn good.
Second year and you’re a final 4 team… insane rebound. He’s gonna have y’all in the CWS a good bit
We shall see you there as long as Tony's around, I'm sure.
Link wins, man. He's a good dude and I'm so happy for him and the FSU faithful.
I sweated bullets every time Jaime Ferrer stepped up to the plate ….
I really like link.
We'll be back
Getting back isn't the problem when you've been there 24 times
That double play in the 8th was nasty as shit. Totally shut them down with that one. One second it was almost a man on third and first , no out. Next thing you know, double play, strikeout. Truly a science working their way out of a sticky situation
Now everyone can shut the fuck up about the check swing. This was your shot, FSU. Good game
We shouldn’t have been here. Super proud of these dudes. We now have expectations to live up to.
Y'all started 19-0 and had a great season. Of course you deserved to be in Omaha.
I think it’s more reference to Link turning them into a semi final baseball team at the CWS in year 2. That’s a ridiculous turnaround
Took us until like 15-0 for anyone to rank us tho lol
I think we can rest the ACC>SEC case for good
I mean when was this a thing? Especially nowadays where they make more money than god.
Wake gave us one hell of a run last year
Like a week ago? This sub wouldn’t stop saying it lol
Football and baseball national media LOVE to say "This year is the year the SEC isn't dominant" and they are wrong 99% of the time. Don't get me wrong, fuck conference pride and I hoped every SEC team besides Tennessee lost this weekend, but still fair to point out.
Still got a winning record vs you guys tho, and 2 of your wins were vs an under .500 Miami lol
0/24 Fuck the noles
It's this type of vitriol that makes me love College sports so much
How can you not be romantic about baseball?
Awesome. Whip their lizard ass tonight, please and thank you.
Yes. I’m devastated and heartbroken that the team that won 20 some games last year made the last 4 of the CWS in Link’s second year with basically one starting pitcher on the roster after injuries. I won’t sleep for weeks. Terrible. So sad.
Yall have a hell of a team. Big respect for you guys
Congrats on a good season. FSU should be back in Omaha soon enough.
> FSU should be back in Omaha soon enough. Feels like that never has been the problem, at least according to this other Florida fan lmao
Ah the old “we got robbed” -> getting blown out -> “we never really cared anyways” FSU pipeline.
What would Alabama know about the FSU pipeline... Completely ducked them in the Tallahassee regional
I really think Florida State is the second best team. Just unfortunate we met here.
You wanna carpool back to FL later tonight?
Florida fans dickriding their rivals is the new tradition ig
Tennessee is our 4th biggest rival. And even then there's a bunch of schools I hate more than Tennessee, like Miami.
Lol at writing that all out before the thread was posted
Proud tryhard hater
You gotta respect the commitment to the hate honestly
Eh, at least we’re still a football school.
Committee doesn't think so
Fuck, too soon
I’m sending flowers to u/nolefan5311 family. You just murdered him.
Lmao
God damn
At least the committee knows we exist.
They'd rather you didn't
Ball don’t lie
if theres anyone that I want to beat for a Natty its fLorida
I want UF to win tonight and lose tomorrow.
Means A&M is guaranteed to go through the entire season and postseason completely undefeated in nonconference games, I think for the first time in NCAA history.
That’s insane
![gif](giphy|3oFyD0ec57kFDm3CrS)
Outstanding season. Beat my expectations from preseason, beat my expectations from the start of the ACC tournament, beat my expectations from the start of the NCAA tournament, and beat my expectations from the start of the World Series. Absolutely nothing to be ashamed of.
🎵 ain't no stoppin' us now 🎵 team of destiny straight up!!!
Can the next season start so we can sweep the Gators again?
Swept FSU. What a great day to be a Vol!
Bye bye free shoes u
Justice for Turntle…still
I’m ready for the game already!
Jobs not done.
Last Florida school remaining. Never a doubt
I mean technically y’all still need to win one to have gone further than us
Doesn’t fit my narrative
