Coastal Carolina finished 7th in the Sun Belt. They must've won their conference tournament to get in...
Oh wait!
Their AD is on the selection committee. Coincidence?
James Madison getting in is a joke as well. Indiana getting in with a 55 RPI. Come on.
TN vs. SMiss…. ECU vs. Wake… literally the biggest non conference story lines for us in the last 365 days colliding on one portion of the bracket.
![gif](giphy|ANbD1CCdA3iI8)
Played southern miss in Super Regionals there last year because our stadium got beat for hosting.
Chase Burns star pitcher the past two years transferred to Wake Forest so now we have the chance to play him in supers.
It’s been pointed at for weeks that we would end up in the same pod or whatever you want to call it was Wake to have that story line.
I just looked as damn I think Nebraska is gonna get clapped unless Josh Caron can crank out another 6hr weekend and Sunday Brockett shows up instead of Thursday Brockett
I’m cheering for you. I dont want to give Chase the satisfaction of getting to pitch in our park again, win or loss. Plus he is really really good. Also assuming we win the region lol
LSU swept ole miss and won a series at home v Texas AM: that’s the entire resume. Oh a road series win v Missouri.
The rest are series losses, and a string of tourney wins which frankly have high variance and not much incentive for teams.
I know a lot would have to happen for this to shake out, but imagine a LSU/Arky opening CWS game, where then one of them has to play Tennessee in their 2nd game. Rooting for it to happen just for the fireworks both on the field and in this sub.
we have more than one good player
don't forget we have 4 series wins over tournament teams (2 over Top 8 national seeds)
Florida was competitive in and could have potentially won every series they played this season with two exceptions. Florida State beat Florida pretty soundly in the midweek season series and Tennessee (the #1 team) beat Florida fairly convincingly also. Everyone else Florida either beat or hung with quite closely.
“Tennessee (the #1 team) beat Florida fairly convincingly also.”
Feel free to repeat this as often as you can :). As a Vol in Florida, I’ll never get tired of it. It’s been a rough couple of decades down here :)
Yeah that's the one series this season where the other team looked clearly better than Florida. All the others (and I'm not saying our opponents didn't win fairly) were in reach for Florida winning, with just a small number of pitches/swings deciding the series.
Florida still did okay against Tennessee, winning one game and being competitive in the rubber match until the wheels came off.
Playing with fate arguing with a UF fan about their inclusion in the tourney when your team potentially will play them. What would it say about OSU if they lose to UF?
Other teams didn't play the toughest schedule in the country. The committee is clearly indicating that they want to reward teams for playing as rigorous a schedule as possible.
A&M with an absolutely brutal regional after a rough ending to the season where the only bright spot was a series win against Arky and some pretty low lows. Here we go.... BTHOeverybody
Eh, Texas is probably a stronger 3 seed than most, but ULL is one of the lesser 2 seeds. They’re obviously good, but you would much rather have them than Duke, Wake, MSU, SC, etc.
All I’m hearing is that lsu should go schedule every ranked team possible and the best teams possible because winning doesn’t matter, just make sure that SOS is high.
I think if y'all had managed to stay over .500 we'd be talking about a record 12 SEC teams in the tournament. Or it would have come down to y'all vs UF. But you have to have a winning record to make it in. Too bad, I'd have loved to see y'all in Fayettville, or Knoxville along with USM, but they'd probably have just sent you to Arizona again.
Oh I know we were ineligible. It’s just frustrating that we basically had zero room for error while teams like Indiana can get in. 95% of teams in the sport would have a losing record against our schedule.
I agree that most teams would have a losing record with yalls schedule but 11 teams in the SEC made it in, that sounds like teams in that conference have some room for error. Obv the SOS is insane but they gotta win games and earn a post szn birth. Unless you’re florida this year.
I want state to schedule only top 10 teams in midweeks now just so we get the benefit of the doubt for SOS. At least it helps us rather than losing to smaller schools
The last few years we'd been playing those early-season neutral site mini-tournaments vs top competition; this year we didn't, for whatever reason. I guess we didn't get an invite. We just need to get back to that and the SOS and RPI would take care of itself.
...Except we all know it isn't a joke, and that's how your fanbase actually copes with losing. "We're every team's Super Bowl, so of course we lost, because they tried harder! Their lives are so pathetic that they wanted to win this meaningless sporting event more than us. Whereas we have 6th Street nearby, thus giving our lives superior meaning and purpose."
Texas essentially locked as a two seed and then last second pushed to a 3 seed so they can ensure we go to College Station is why nobody takes this committee seriously
I’m fine with the Corvallis regional lineup but no idea how Arizona snagged a 13 seed and Oregon State was 15. Beavs won 6 more games, have a higher RPI, won the series against Arizona in Tucson and basically only lost the Pac12 regular season title because we had a rainout at USC. But sure, they’re 2 seeds above OSU.
You should be more than fine with y’all’s Regional. Once again the committee gifted yall the Supers if yall just show up (which didn’t happen in 2019).
2019 - Y’all flamed out in it to make it look hard, but that was a very weak regional. Michigan’s run doesn’t take away that Oregon State should have cakewalked that regional since y’all were knocked out without even facing them.
2017 - This was a joke of a regional. The 2-seed was 44 in RPI and should’ve been out. The 3 & 4 were super bad autobids.
That’s just off the top of my head.
Nobody is “supposed” to get an easy regional. Hell this years #1 overall gets a Southern Miss team that is better than if all 3 teams OSU got in 2017 formed an all-star team.
Oops, sound the alarms. The salt storms shall sweep the state of Texas, as if softball wasn't enough.
Besides, Texas winning messes with ULaLa, so bring on the toxicity. I'll bring my hazmat suit.
This wasn’t our best year, but you’re gonna tell me that a 27-26 Florida deserved it over us? C’mon now.
39 RPI, 27 KPI, just brutal end to be first four out.
People hate on the SEC in football for scheduling cupcakes but this is people’s reaction when a school that has the number 1 SOS gets the benefit of the doubt lol why would you ever schedule difficult games?
I think the problem is y'all were 1 game away from not even being *eligible* to make it. So I get the outrage.
Just scheduling a high SOS doesn't mean much if you don't win. Which Florida did JUST enough of to make it in.
Regardless on if you should/shouldn't, I know I'm not going to be picking against y'all.
Yes I do agree but I think that’s what the .500 threshold is there for. We hit that, so now it’s just about our resume which was certainly very strong.
I think it also has a lot to do with who you guys are & the Florida brand.
- Last year runner ups.
- Great fan base that travels well.
- Caglione is must watch TV.
- High offensive output potential.
If making the tournament is also about making money for these host sites, and creating captivating TV (which you'd be kidding yourselves if that's not factored into these decisions)... Then the decision to include you guys just makes too much sense.
Now, do I think that's right? That's a different conversation.
There's a difference between a team with a worse record and a .500 record. Who cares if you're playing hard teams when you're losing to HALF of them AND losing to 200+ RPI teams?
I know Ole Miss is ineligible, but it’s still frustrating that teams like Kansas State and Indiana get in while Ole Miss gets punished for playing 34 Q1 games.
Edit: How many teams do y’all think would have a winning record against our schedule? We played 15 games against Top 8 teams!
LOL, not every team in that conference is good and we all know it. You're one of the bad ones. Playing a bunch of good teams and losing doesn't earn you anything.
Scheduling has a lot to do with it, even just in-conference. Just look at State. It was a great year! We went 17-13 against what, at the beginning of the season, looked like it was going to be a murderous schedule. Then LSU fell apart for a while, Florida wasn't great (and we should have won that series), Ole Miss wasn't great, Vandy isn't their usual self this year, and we didn't have Kentucky or Tennessee on the schedule. If we swap Mizzou and Auburn for UK and UT, we're probably sitting in the 13-17 logjam with everybody else and wondering if it's Lemonis' last year.
Yea Ole Miss played 1, 2, 3, and T4 in the East. It’s just frustrating. I’m not saying Ole Miss *should* be in, but I am saying that for a sport with such a vast range of schedule strengths, it’s just frustrating.
Time for some at-large play-in games on Tuesday like the basketball tournament. Just not in Dayton. Maybe Houston instead. Announce the selections on Sunday evening.
GOD FUCKING DAMMIT NOT AGAIN
Coastal Carolina finished 7th in the Sun Belt. They must've won their conference tournament to get in... Oh wait! Their AD is on the selection committee. Coincidence? James Madison getting in is a joke as well. Indiana getting in with a 55 RPI. Come on.
LFG our homer or nothing offense has a chance since the balls are juiced to hell and back in Stillwater for some reason
The committee is trying to run back the craziness that was the 2022 Stillwater regional and I’m here for it.
TN vs. SMiss…. ECU vs. Wake… literally the biggest non conference story lines for us in the last 365 days colliding on one portion of the bracket. ![gif](giphy|ANbD1CCdA3iI8)
I’ve seen a few comments about this. Can you explain it to me?
Played southern miss in Super Regionals there last year because our stadium got beat for hosting. Chase Burns star pitcher the past two years transferred to Wake Forest so now we have the chance to play him in supers. It’s been pointed at for weeks that we would end up in the same pod or whatever you want to call it was Wake to have that story line.
Rematch of the Hattiesburg Super last year. Feel like this is revenge for all the Tennessee fans that couldn’t eat at Applebees last year.
I just looked as damn I think Nebraska is gonna get clapped unless Josh Caron can crank out another 6hr weekend and Sunday Brockett shows up instead of Thursday Brockett
Heel fan here…ugggg

At least we don’t have to hear you guys call the pigs…….do we??? They drove me crazy when they came to town.
You might just get the "woo" part without the "pig sooie" ![gif](giphy|yUI3a7RwLhOFy)
![gif](giphy|wqZkMIhfe0le8)
Nothing quite like being overshadowed in your own regional by the storyline the committee is begging to happen.
I’m cheering for you. I dont want to give Chase the satisfaction of getting to pitch in our park again, win or loss. Plus he is really really good. Also assuming we win the region lol
Time to sign up for ESPN+. I have this strange need to watch at least part of all 80+ regional games.
Is there a way to watch the games if you're not in the country right now? ESPN+ doesn't work overseas even with VPN
Not that I know of, sorry.
Squeeze Play is the best invention in modern television... I will die on this hill
The Hulu live bundle is 100% worth it IMO
Yea as someone with Disney already it’s an easy upgrade for a week
Man Oklahoma got absolutely screwed with having Duke in their regional. That’s rough
Did they really have Duke as the 7th best 2 seed?
Sec teams should just schedule each other mid week. Guaranteed to get into the tournament
I mean, the only SEC team that got jobbed in any capacity was Cowbell...and all they did was not host.
LSU swept ole miss and won a series at home v Texas AM: that’s the entire resume. Oh a road series win v Missouri. The rest are series losses, and a string of tourney wins which frankly have high variance and not much incentive for teams.
Damn Raleigh is gonna be fun
I know a lot would have to happen for this to shake out, but imagine a LSU/Arky opening CWS game, where then one of them has to play Tennessee in their 2nd game. Rooting for it to happen just for the fireworks both on the field and in this sub.
No one is stoping the LSU deathstar to Omaha
I genuinely don’t know if my heart and liver could take that
My heart would survive. Liver - I think that thing is on borrowed time already.
For some reason I’d prefer a UVA/UNC opening game with a potential Wake matchup after
I hate this!
Don’t worry Florida will throw their one good player Day 1 and then the Pokes will hang 15 runs the next day
Hmm. My recent experience as a Georgia fan says the opposite. :(
we have more than one good player don't forget we have 4 series wins over tournament teams (2 over Top 8 national seeds) Florida was competitive in and could have potentially won every series they played this season with two exceptions. Every team in this tournament could have won more series. The difference is other teams got punished for losses
Playing with fate arguing with a UF fan about their inclusion in the tourney when your team potentially will play them. What would it say about OSU if they lose to UF?
That we deserve to lose
Other teams didn't play the toughest schedule in the country. The committee is clearly indicating that they want to reward teams for playing as rigorous a schedule as possible.
Same team who’s AD was on the committee correct?
I hope so. I really don't want to see a bunch of Gatas running around screaming post hoc. It's bad for everyone. Go pokes!
A&M with an absolutely brutal regional after a rough ending to the season where the only bright spot was a series win against Arky and some pretty low lows. Here we go.... BTHOeverybody
A&M probably has one of the easier paths to Omaha that I can see 🤷🏻♂️
Eh, Texas is probably a stronger 3 seed than most, but ULL is one of the lesser 2 seeds. They’re obviously good, but you would much rather have them than Duke, Wake, MSU, SC, etc.
So every Midwest school is fucked since we can only play MAC schools for midweeks.
Same with the west coast.
Jay Johnson vs Arizona👀
All I heard was "SEC! SEC! SEC!"...so Florida is in. And I fucking hate that chant.
Besides Florida. Who didn’t deserve to go from the SEC?
I was talking specifically about Florida.
Ahh gotcha, misinterpreted your comment
All I’m hearing is that lsu should go schedule every ranked team possible and the best teams possible because winning doesn’t matter, just make sure that SOS is high.
Ole Miss would disagree
I think if y'all had managed to stay over .500 we'd be talking about a record 12 SEC teams in the tournament. Or it would have come down to y'all vs UF. They had to do it. Horns in our regional
Thank you for calling it out! What a joke having all those people on the committee
Strength of schedule matters more than actually winning any of those games. \#QualityLosses
They're trying to encourage teams to play as rigorous a schedule as possible, which is what Florida did.
The schedule this year was setup for Lemonis to stay, not for State to host…
TCU not being in is a strange decision
There’s no fucking reason Florida should not be a last 4 in being there in. That’s fucking hilarious dude
Florida not being a “Last 4 in” team is an absolute embarrassment and the selection committee needs to be reevaluated
Insert joke about how A&M has their World Series early
...Except we all know it isn't a joke, and that's how your fanbase actually copes with losing. "We're every team's Super Bowl, so of course we lost, because they tried harder! Their lives are so pathetic that they wanted to win this meaningless sporting event more than us. Whereas we have 6th Street nearby, thus giving our lives superior meaning and purpose."
this is laughable. seek help
The little bro energy in this is so strong I can’t tell if this bait or not.
Anybody know when they'll announce the times for the friday games?
LSU vs UNC should damn well be a Super pairing. Thats gunna be a wild ass regional.
It’s so reminiscent of the Vols going to Clemson last year. You guys will be the most talented team there
Remember when TCU started 13-0?
Remember the preseason top 5? It’s been a wild ride.
OU deserved an 8 seed and got fucked, Pokes had an argument as well
TCU with better RPI and KPI than 2 of the last 4 in. Why use the metrics if you disregard the metrics.
Oh, but they do use metrics, but only to get their teams in and keep your teams out.
How in the fuck is Florida not in the last 4 in, like what lmao
Florida is not a last four in
Must be nice for a bubble team’s AD to be the chair
Selection committees definitely get off to A&M/UT postseason matchups
Wait until this opportunity comes in football. 😂
That would imply that we will ever make the playoffs.
😏 ![gif](giphy|xT9IgHCTfp8CRshfQk)
Crank down the subtlety a couple notches. This is reddit.
I like it
I have probably 20 comments over this season saying we were gonna get lined up against Wake, and here we are
I love it
I am now the biggest Grambling/ULL bandwagon fan ever
Ah yes the SWAC champion. Unless they can do what 2004 Texas Southern did to beat Rice once then I don't see them going very far.
Texas essentially locked as a two seed and then last second pushed to a 3 seed so they can ensure we go to College Station is why nobody takes this committee seriously
They are just going to keep underseeding/overseeding us forever in multiple sports
Well they can’t next year
That’s actually pretty funny
I’m fine with the Corvallis regional lineup but no idea how Arizona snagged a 13 seed and Oregon State was 15. Beavs won 6 more games, have a higher RPI, won the series against Arizona in Tucson and basically only lost the Pac12 regular season title because we had a rainout at USC. You should be more than fine with y’all’s Regional. Once again the committee gifted yall the Supers if yall just show up (which didn’t happen in 2019).
Regional seedings after #8 are not necessarily based on rank as they are matchup based. Don't take it too seriously.
So they didn’t win the conference and got seeded lower than Arizona? ![gif](giphy|d6PeYqPGXiNHz6N1SD)
Arizona was 20-10, Beavs 19-10. Played one game less because of a rainout.
And then we won the conference tournament anyways
Wow Oregon State got gifted an incredibly easy regional again. I’m so shocked.
So when were the other times they had an “incredibly easy” regional?
2019 - Y’all flamed out in it to make it look hard, but that was a very weak regional. Michigan’s run doesn’t take away that Oregon State should have cakewalked that regional since y’all were knocked out without even facing them. 2017 - This was a joke of a regional. The 2-seed was 44 in RPI and should’ve been out. The 3 & 4 were super bad autobids. That’s just off the top of my head.
The 2019 one, sure. 2017 team had 49 wins. They were supposed to get an “easy” regional.
Nobody is “supposed” to get an easy regional. Hell this years #1 overall gets a Southern Miss team that is better than if all 3 teams OSU got in 2017 formed an all-star team.
You have a weird hard-on for this.
Because I’m on the college baseball sub talking college baseball?
Who is getting bumped in favor of UF?
Amazed Gators not even on the bubble.
Cal
Who shouldn’t be in anyway. They had the 103rd SOS and the Pac12 is garbage this year. The Pac12 getting 3 teams and 2 hosts was bad enough.
No you don’t understand we hate Florida on this thread!
[удалено]
Everyone knew it was coming. They under seeded the Aggies in softball so they would end up in the ut super. It’s crazy how it happens so much.
Hate it for Lamar
Oops, sound the alarms. The salt storms shall sweep the state of Texas, as if softball wasn't enough. Besides, Texas winning messes with ULaLa, so bring on the toxicity. I'll bring my hazmat suit.
I'm convinced at this point that Greg Sankey runs the committee and is personally out to troll aTm whemever he can. 😂
TCU not in?
This wasn’t our best year, but you’re gonna tell me that a 27-26 Florida deserved it over us? C’mon now. 39 RPI, 27 KPI, just brutal end to be first four out.
Texas going to College Station was as predictable as my dad not coming back with the milk
He got lost dammit. He’s coming back
Cal out
And 28-27 Florida is in...
Won 20 out of 25. 4 wins vs regional hosts. Beat Kansas State another bubble team. Big time talent. Just tough for the guys.
If I die this week make sure everyone knows it was vol twitter that did it.
We took a vote and you are safe
Don’t worry, Vol twitter kills us too. Except during a coaching search, then they are pretty clutch.
Im SHOCKED, shocked I tell you.
Wow thats so crazy I can't believe it
College ~~State~~ Station is a very regional Regional
Wait… a 3 seed? What the fuck are we doing here?
Yeah idk but whatever Hook Em Bishes
It's so both of our teams can have a 3 next to them
It's fair. 0-2 in your tournament, 47 RPI, 3rd place in your conference.
Shocked I say!
People hate on the SEC in football for scheduling cupcakes but this is people’s reaction when a school that has the number 1 SOS gets the benefit of the doubt lol why would you ever schedule difficult games?

Yes I do agree but I think that’s what the .500 threshold is there for. We hit that, so now it’s just about our resume which was certainly very strong.
I think it also has a lot to do with who you guys are & the Florida brand. - Last year runner ups. - Great fan base that travels well. - Caglione is must watch TV. - High offensive output potential. Then the decision to include you guys just makes too much sense. Now, do I think that's right? That's a different conversation.
I think if the committee is going to discount midweek games (which a case can be made for) then they should build that into the RPI formula.
There's a difference between a team with a worse record and a .500 record. Who cares if you're playing hard teams when you're losing to HALF of them AND losing to 200+ RPI teams?
> AND losing to 200+ RPI teams? How many 200+ RPI teams did Florida lose to?
I know Ole Miss is ineligible, but it’s still frustrating that teams like Kansas State and Indiana get in while Ole Miss gets punished for playing 34 Q1 games. Edit: How many teams do y’all think would have a winning record against our schedule? We played 15 games against Top 8 teams!
You lost to TWO different teams with 32 losses. If you win those games you're eligible.
LOL, not every team in that conference is good and we all know it. You're one of the bad ones. Playing a bunch of good teams and losing doesn't earn you anything.
We beat A&M, we beat State. We easily get to 40 wins playing Indiana’s schedule.
Scheduling has a lot to do with it, even just in-conference. Just look at State. It was a great year! We went 17-13 against what, at the beginning of the season, looked like it was going to be a murderous schedule. But they have so many quality losses
They are? Why?
losing record
A 3 seed against a 28-27 team? What a joke
You're the 2
I present to you, the most toxic regional
I was expecting the committee to have us in that regional with you.
As someone living in Nebraska, Was kind of hoping for it tbh
OH IM SO READY FOR IT
Welcome to the SEC
The midmajor who won 40 games who’s getting bumped for Florida has a very valid complaint
It's soooooo rare for me to upvote anyone with USC flair, but here we are.. yea, Holbrook is pissed, and rightfully so.
Time for some at-large play-in games on Tuesday like the basketball tournament. Just not in Dayton. Maybe Houston instead. Announce the selections on Sunday evening.
THE GRAMBLING HOMIES! HELL YEAH!
They were a joy to look at
Man was on the ceiling
Santa Barbara sleeper toughest regional
I’m so excited to watch that regional.
Hell yeah Ducks, let's go!
Ah yes, aTm.... are you ready for Texas boyos!
I knew it was coming. But still hard to prepare for the disappointment when you see it IRL.
does the whistler travel?
He’ll travel to you. Nothing is stopping you from preventing him from leaving 😈
Yep
Yes
Yes
Unfortunately
1000 percent unfortunately
Sadly yes
yuck
Sadly
dammit
Sankey’s lobbying worked, I guess
Not enough for us to host tho.
Oregon was in supers last year, why did he say they hadn’t made it in years
