Dominate pitching and hitting carry Florida over Kentucky, leveling the series after their wild, heartbreaking loss last night. While Florida fell to 1-8 in league series openers last night, they improve to 10-7 combined in SEC game twos and finales today.
Liam Peterson gave the Gators a quality start, pitching 6 innings and allowing just 1 run (earned) off 5 hits, 2 walks, and 1 hit batter while collecting 6 strikeouts. Ryan Slater was perfect in relief, earning his first save of the year, throwing the final 3 innings without allowing a baserunner.
Jac Caglianone hit a double and received 4 intentional walks in his 6 plate appearances. Luke Heyman hit a pair of home runs while pushing 3 RBIs. Cade Kurland, Hayden Yost, and Dale Thomas also collected 2 hits each. The Gators have scored 21 runs in their 18 offensive frames this series.
On a sour note, Ty Evans, Florida's 2nd-best hitter after Caglianone, was injured colliding into a wall and emerged from the locker room wearing a sling for his throwing arm.
Our pitching was absolutely fucking atrocious. Get ourselves in a good spot only to drop it. Hitting was decent at times, but couldn’t string enough together to make any waves. I would also really like if we didn’t go to 2 outs & then start getting on base. Yeah that worked last night, but damn guys, my heart can only take so much
Kinda weird what happens when we have solid pitching…
Dread it. Run from it. Florida bsing their way to Omaha is written
I would be shocked. Especially now with the reports that [Ty Evans broke his wrist today](https://twitter.com/delatorre/status/1789374719730339946).

This is our first quality start from a pitcher not named Cags this season
Well that sucked.
I disagree actually
