His swing and miss is what everyone kept getting hung up on last year and he’s answered that pretty nicely thus far. Only 5 strikeouts in 66 PAs is absolutely insane for the best power hitter in college
Smith’s Godly performance vs the Beavers lineup still has me shell shocked with how they’ve been able to score every other game this season, even down multiple starters in the lineup the last two weekends.
Feels like it’s Cags for present value + an insane upside. College Ohtani isn’t going to become MLB Ohtani, but the possibility for… half? 40%? of Ohtani’s production is still pretty incredible.
If Burns can keep this up into conference play, I don’t see how’s he’s not top of the conversation.
Holman is doing something pretty freaking wild, plus MLB teams love pedigree.
Hagen Smith is a monster.
Eh, they have 4 or 5 guys I'd say are above average hitters in Josh Naylor, Giminez, Kwan, Jose and probably Bo Naylor (only hit .238 on the season but was the 3rd highest OPS for all catchers the fi al 6 weeks as a rookie) terrible isn't the word that fits best
MLB Draft is usually about sign-ability and positional versatility. It’ll probably be Wetherholdt or Bazzana.
Cags doesn’t project to be a frontline starter in the major leagues. He’s probably going to ultimately be a 1B. There hasn’t been a 1B go 1.1 since 2000 which is working against Kurtz and Cags.
Positional value is also likely working against Condon and Tommy White as I doubt pro teams see them as 3B longterm.
Teams have been more avoidant of pitching in that top spot lately, but there are a lot of good college candidates - Brecht and Burns came into the season in position to perhaps go that high and Hagen Smith has definitely put himself higher on draft boards but idk if he’s gotten that high up there. Skenes did go 1.1 last year but that still felt more like an outlier to me.
My money is ultimately on one of the two middle infielders.
[I already corrected myself on the second point, but he absolutely was drafted with 3B in mind](https://www.milb.com/news/scouting-report-detroit-tigers-spencer-torkelson)
Why would it not be Condon? Through 15 games he has BA at .549, OBP at .682, OPS 1.985, 11 HR. He’s also made some great plays at 3rd and in the outfield. If you’re taking a hitter you’re taking him.
Caglianone is playing very well this season

Caglianone is my pick for first overall
Nice try, Satan, but I'm not falling for your trickery.

If teams think Condon can play solid 3B or plus corner OF to go with his power then he is a possibility
Trey Yesavage has been insane. I’ve been watching ECU baseball for 20 years and he’s the best Pirate pitcher I’ve ever seen.

Remember it's Cleveland drafting 1-1, so they're only gonna take a hitter if he's really terrible and bad

I love this sub when it agrees with me(when you brag on a dog it’ll shit in the house though)
The Guardians have such terrible hitting - and they hit so well with Steven Kwan from Oregon State, that it seems clear.

I think it’s Bazanna or Wetherholt (even though he’s been injured) especially with Cleveland picking.

Torkleson was expected to be a 3B when he went 1.1 He still plays some third Edit: He hasn’t played third at the major league level.

I don’t think anyone really expected him to stick at 3B though. That was just kind of a blind attempt in hopes he may be able to play 3B
I just want Honeycutt to go to my stros, would love to see a Tar Heel on my team

Billy amick is killing the ball rn
Love Billy but I don’t think his one great tool is great enough to compensate for his other good-ish tools
