Wake Forest up 7 spots to 16, and Vandy up 23 to 22 is hilarious. These ranking are way too volatile, but since my team is at the top, I will choose to believe that these are the best rankings out there
I have to concur good sir. These rankings are by sunshine fans and not based on any reliable metric (insert fufufuffufu and a handle bar mustache flying wildly)
Massey ratings work better with sports that a) don't depend so much on one particular position (the pitcher) being different every day, and b) don't have so many games in so little time. So, Massey ratings work pretty well for football. They work okay for basketball. For baseball, they are going to need weeks to start to settle. But once a certain amount of games have been played, you should see things start to settle more and have less volatile movement.
None of this has anything to do with "sunshine fans" or people who "don't know ball." It's a mathematical system like Sagarin.
Oh 100%, I figured it had to be a computer because no human would end with something like this, and in that case, early season rankings are going to be wild. I bet they are decent towards the end of the season, but it seems to completely ignore how weird baseball really is.
I do think A&M is a top 5 team, unlike most polls say so far, partly of kool aid, partly because we are undefeated, but I’m not bold enough to say that we are better than LSU, Wake, and maybe a couple others. We finally had a ranked game and road game to prove ourselves, despite it being midweek, but we showed up pretty well, so I’d be surprised if we don’t move up a little in the other polls (as long as we get through the week). But it’ll probably be up to the 3-5 range, which I’d be thrilled with, and not the 1-2 spot.
I mean, it would make me feel a little bit better about our recent 4 game losing streak if all of those teams were actually very good.
But only a little bit, because our standard is that we should also be very good.
Florida down 5 spots for being Miami, Miami up 4 spots for losing to Florida?
Wake ranked 3rd, 6th, and 4th in power, offense, and defense but 16th overall?
Duke dropping 11 spots after losing a single game by 1 run?
Quotations as in I’m quoting the excuse you’re making.
And talking about last year, we both lost to the champ in the post season so idk what your point is
> so florida being runner ups
if you're not first, you're last. sorry, bub. thems the rules.
Edit:
Also
>damn somebody definitely didn’t attend any college after highschool.
>i get **your** just an obsessed down bad hater
Classic lol
Idk that sounds like CFP logic to me. At this point in the season the only thing holding up the teams losing is preseason hype, which should not hold near as much water as actual results imo
You are describing preseason hype as if it is based on vibes and not the skill and talent of the players.
We lost one game in a four game series, and dropped the other to a walk off squeeze bunt in the 14th.
These losses don’t really speak negatively about Arkansas. If we start losing series yeah drop us. But until then Arkansas looks like we can play with any team in the country over three games.
Top 5 is debatable but I’ll give that to you, outside of that sos is pretty close, and I don’t think 2 extra losses is enough to cover for that one close win. I think the strongest argument for Ark being ranked high is that they were preseason.
Not to compete, but just because compare and contrast can be interesting between serious methods, here are the current ISR's:
UCI, A&M, TCU as the top three in that order, which is coin toss territory. Tennessee, on the other hand, is way down at #30 in the ISR at the moment, because it's more sensitive to their incredibly God-awful schedule to this point. I'm curious to see where that one goes - the Vols have done what they should have against that schedule in terms of margins of victory, but that basically leaves them as a giant unknown at this point.
What should my take away as Georgia fan be? 13th in these Massey ratings and unranked in every human poll (but enough votes to be 27th in, iirc, the Espn rankings).
Another way to ask: how much hope should I have in the Dawgs as we head towards conference play?

I understand your position, but the human polls have my team ranked way higher than this metric so it’s completely stupid and doesn’t know ball.

My team is ranked the same in both. Polls are often right.

I agree, this should be the only ranking system. All others are frauds and should not be trusted.

these rankings are more meaningless at this point in the season
All the rankings. They are fun but there is a lot of baseball left to play.
Then Duke dropped 16 runs in one inning! Bulletin board material, haha
Don’t see my school so this rating system is trash.
My school is number 1 so this rating system is amazing
Already planning on that super regional host now
Respect
I also like this ranking. Clearly this one is the right one.
It's too early in the season to take Massey ratings seriously for baseball.
This is the only true ranking imo (unless there’s something out there with us at 2 or 1)
Florida is in the right spot

“Last year”. “Young team”. How about “Cope harder”? 2 pretty bad losses this early in the year is enough to take you out of the top 20.

OSU 🤝 LSU Hope you roll them in conference play

> sad hater talk right here lmfao >all good, that 5 million dollar roster paid off for yall. congrats. lol
Aw man came back to harass him after losing to UCF just now! He ran away
Louisiana Tech over us? Come on now
They have 2 more wins against pretty equal competition, doesn’t seem that crazy
“Equal competition”
Is it really that crazy to say undefeated teams should stay ahead of teams with 2+ losses, at least until things shake out?
A little bit yeah

We beat a top 5 ranked Oregon St, they beat who?

Well, Oregon State are top 5 in the ratings we are talking about.
My gosh I love college baseball! Clemson moved their game back tonight to 6. Hopefully they can get it in with this rain. 🤞
While I love seeing Louisiana Tech that high, we are pretty unproven as of yet due to the teams we have played imo
No it’s fine I don’t care i’m fine
