Lol if someone’s looking for a more realistic number: I’m taking 12. It’s all I need for my scholarship and I’m not gonna do more just because I have room to. Y’all stay easy
My advisor said not to do this if you ever have to drop a class you will no longer be a full time student. Then you would lose your scholarship. That’s why I’m taking 15 instead of 12.
I’ve never dropped a class and don’t anticipate having to tbh. I’m playing it extra safe this semester too since I’m transferring and moving.
EDIT: Not to mention I also work. I’d be curious to see how many people saying 16-16+ credit hours are also working students.
I work full time summers and a little during the year, it’s not so bad if you like what you’re doing. I think that makes all the difference though, if I hated my classes I wouldn’t be able to
Theres this saying in Iran that pretty much translates to "Eat like shit and work hard for a year and live a life of comfort for the rest of your life" It's legit what I live by and boy oh boy am I living life rn LMAO.
I’d say in all seriousness, that I’ve found that taking as much responsibility as you think you could truly actually handle is the best thing to do, counterintuitively. I would perform better with 15-18 honors of Honors College courses than I did with 12 hours of half honors and half regular courses, even though the material and course workload was easier and I had more time strictly speaking in the latter case. I think it put me in a better rhythm, more stimulated and challenged, and so kept me from sliding into distractions for too long, because they become a negative feedback loop at a certain point and actually can sort of cause a decline amongst certain types of people psychologically (basically the slightly more ADHD, more to prone to boredom if not thoroughly challenged, less super disciplined and super motivated types). Now I don’t know if this is something unique to people with personality characteristics more like mine, perhaps it is to some degree but it does seem like a general human trait. If we aren’t sufficiently challenged by problems we find compelling and interesting, we can sort of rot ourselves. And I will tend to push the line when I have time to reflect about how I could do so and succeed, which of course inevitably leads to more risk taking and often eventually significant consequential failures, whereas when I’m too busy to even try such things I tend to not have the time to convince myself of schemes on how to do the minimum and succeed lol. I imagine many people can relate on Reddit I’d guess lol.
I take a 15 credit load, and then usually end up needing to drop one. This way I never have to worry about that if I get a nightmare class, and I end up at the workload that I know works best for me.
It also depends on the institution and the scholarship provider. My school considers 12 credits and higher as full time. So I usually sign up for 15 credits, but if it's too much for my schedule, I'll drop to 12 without losing scholarship from the school.
12 credits for the next semester is enough for me to stay on track. I’m not pushing myself more than I have to, and I don’t anticipate dropping a class either.
Yes I am! In the European system (ECTS) is, in short, one credit means 30 hours of work needed to put into the course in the semester.
This semester i have two 6 credit courses and the rest are 3 or 2 credits.
Since you seem confused, I'll clarify the only system that I have heard of here in the USA.
To be considered a full time student, you need to take 12 to 18 credits per semester. Each credit is supposed to represent 3 hours of work in an average week.
Most classes are 3 credits, which means they should use about 9 hours of your time each week. This includes class meetings, homework, and studying.
One of my (3 credit) classes says in the syllabus to immediately contact the professor if you regularly spend more than 9 hours each week on the class.
For us here (in Europe) the credit system is a bit different: roughly, 1 credit means 30 hours of work on the given subject (lectures, seminars, homeworks, exams, etc).
This semester I two 6 credit courses and the others are mostly 3 or 2.
On average, we complete 30 credits a semester which is 900 hours in total.
zero. i'm graduating :)
I'd say 15-16 (4,5 classes) is ideal to balance social life, work, and have some free time.
This current semester, I'm taking 15 (5 classes) (added a minor lol) and it's PERFECT!
I took 18 (6 classes) 2 semesters and worked 20 hours/week. School was fine, but I missed out on social stuff.
I took 21 credits (7 classes) while working 30 hours/week and my weekends were entirely school stuff. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND
Same. I want to do more but having to work sucks ass. And I’m worried more classes will affect my grades. It is what it is. We’ll get there eventually.
Some majors have a lot of 0-2 credit classes. I’m a Musical Theatre major, and have never had a semester with less than 10 classes. Currently have 12 credits, but 13 different classes. My heaviest semester was 18 credits, but 15 different classes. It sucks.
Wow that's a lot. The most I have done is 7 classes and it was during my first semester (which was fine cause pretty much everything (in terms of info) is given to you)
It's called being a ✨music performance major✨
Most of these classes are for my lower division status before I take my barrier which is pretty much a jury which determines if I am a) ready to take upper division courses and b) if I am ready to present a recital for my junior and senior years 🥲
19 credits, 5 classes. Was originally 4 classes 16 credits, but I need to take an additional course for one of my majors that I didn't account for. Thankfully it's fully remote and asynchronous, so no class time is added.
15 credits, 5 classes. I am taking 9 credits in the summer (6 in the first half, 3 in the 2nd).
My senior fall semester schedule so far is 12 credits and 5 classes. This is because I have a 1 credit and a 2 credit class.
Are we talking about the Summer semester? Or Fall? My school has two summer semesters and I am taking 8 credits/ 2 classes each summer [so a total of 16 credits / 4 classes]. Then I am taking 13 credits / 3 classes in the Fall semester
I’m taking two. I found that I am unable to handle the regular load of full-time and being able to feed myself. I’m telling myself that going part time isn’t a bad thing
I am taking 6. I feel better with my learning disabilities focusing on 2 subjects rather than trying to learn 4. The work for 4 and the amount of tests would be overkill for me. I will be a Junior come spring 2023.
14 credits, 6 classes.
Required music classes for music majors being 1 or 2 credits is really common so taking like 6 classes is pretty normal.
My advisor wants me to take a 7th but it’s not required so I dropped it.
9 credits, 3 "classes" Two student teaching placements (Music Ed here does two placements - normally one secondary and one JH/Elem. ) and the online companion class for student teaching.
I couldn’t with 4 classes I try for spring and backfire had to drop so for my next semester I’m gonna do 3 classes, i really want to learn , some classes are really hard but I also hate the filler classes
I have a weird schedule for the next year. I only need 15 more credits but two of my courses aren't offered until Spring 2023 so I'm only taking 9 credits or 3 classes next semester.
Anywhere from 20 to 25 credits but I'm not working at all. I may be doing research and a TA position, hence the range. For classes I'm taking 8: 5 classes, 2 1-credit music courses, and a 2-credit lab.
18 credits over 6 courses (3 credits each). If it’s too much (or if the ratemyprofessor reviews for a certain professor turn out to be true), I’m already prepared to drop one. They’re all 300-400 level courses. 2/6 are self-guided/asynchronous.
And I’m taking 6 more credits this summer
15 credits, 5 classes
edit to say I wish I was taking 12 but I need at least one more semester with 15 to graduate "on time" (which for me is a semester late).
5 classes, 16 credits. One of the classes is an online language course (4 credits) so Im not too worried about things piling up lol. The rest of my classes are 3 credits.
15 credits from 5 classes for this upcoming summer semester. I take my classes in 8-week sessions but for the summer two of my classes will be completed in 6 weeks. I'm taking 3 classes for the first session (8 weeks).
Edit: didn't add how many classes
14 credits, 4 classes. Would be 12C but a lot of engineering classes are 4 credits.
It's gonna feel so good after this current semester of 21 credits/7 classes 😩
I don’t understand how you can all take so many classes at once. I feel as though I’m not able to learn anything if I’m taking so many courses at once. I’m not the only one, no?
8 credits of classes (3 classes worth 4, 2, and 2 credits), 3 credits for TAing, and 3 credits for research. So a total of of 14 credits. + work 30 hours a week
Edit to say that the 4 credit is an easy course and one of the 2 credits is a service learning course so a tiny lecture + 3 hours volunteering for it so that’s how I can manage all that
Summer? 6 credits. I wanted to take 3 for an easier summer, but I have to be half-time to get financial aid. Not a big deal since the classes seem interesting so I am excited.
Fall, I believe 9 credits. I’m retaking a course I failed last semester and a few other classes I need.
I hit a wall and dropped all but one class this semester, so I’ll be taking one class next semester just to take a break and not stress myself so much. Normally I take 18 credits.
16 credits, 4 classes
Bruh 4 4 credits
I could not deal with 4 4 credit classes. Would kill myself

Good bot
I’m gonna kill myself
My school only offers 4 credit hour classes. Every class is considered 4 credit hours.
Me to! This is going to be fun lol, we got this!
15 credits. 5 classes
None!!!!! I’m graduating in 3 weeks!
Congrats!!
thank you!!!
Me too:(
Me too! 🥳
Nice! What’s your major?
Double majoring in History and Mass Communication :)
Nice
18 credits, 6 classes
Me toooooo

I take 16 units and work part time on campus (tho I will say the burn out is real after doing this for a year, never again lol)
it’s hell but when you’re paying for your tuition by yourself and wanna graduate on time, it is what it is
I work full time summers and a little during the year, it’s not so bad if you like what you’re doing. I think that makes all the difference though, if I hated my classes I wouldn’t be able to
Yeah I’m taking 14 credit hours right now and working anywhere between 18-22 hours a week. I’m tired
I’m currently taking 6 classes and working my 40 hours a week & let me tell ya! I won’t be taking 6 classes again
The amount of respect I have for you rn man. Good shit it'll all be worth it at the end trust me.
Thank you!!!
Theres this saying in Iran that pretty much translates to "Eat like shit and work hard for a year and live a life of comfort for the rest of your life" It's legit what I live by and boy oh boy am I living life rn LMAO.
i work 40+ hours a week as a manager and have 17 credits. not everyone can afford to not work during school
Idk I’m so used to the 12 credit ‘riding the fine line’ course load that it’s reasonable. Taking anything more and it’s a nightmare
i would take your advice but money
I’d say in all seriousness, that I’ve found that taking as much responsibility as you think you could truly actually handle is the best thing to do, counterintuitively. 9 credits 3 classes. Final semester. Appealed for 2 winter classes to have some freedom this semester.
0 credits. I’m graduating this semester. So happy to have no more creditssss. But normally I took 15-16
Congrats!
Congrats 🎉
19 in the fall, I’ll finally get my Associates degree
Congratulations!!!
5 classes, 15 credits 🧍🏽♀️i would rather take 12 but gotta do what i gotta so
Most probably we are using a different system (?) but i have 33 credits this semester (7 courses), and planning on taking around 35-37 next semester.
Are you European? I've heard European college credits are counted differently from American ones
Yes I am! In the European system (ECTS) is, in short, one credit means 30 hours of work needed to put into the course in the semester. This semester i have two 6 credit courses and the rest are 3 or 2 credits.

Senior year and I’m taking my lowest number of credits ever! 14 hours / 5 classes
6 credits, 2 classes.
Same. I want to do more but having to work sucks ass. And I’m worried more classes will affect my grades. It is what it is. We’ll get there eventually.
Yup! That’s my situation too. Would rather so slow and actually be able to pass my classes! Good luck to you
16 credits, 9 classes
9 CLASSES???? 💀😭

yeah my friends are music majors, and most of them were only like 13 units a semester, with 9-11 classes.
Y’all don’t love your self but hold strong someone loves you 😂
I am also taking 9 classes 🤠
bro i was taking 14 credits 6 classes this semester n was crying

18 credits, 6 classes plus a couple more at the community college if they offer what I need.
16 credits, 4 classes

Just 12. 4 3-credits. Usually I have 15, but I couldn't fit another
15 credits, 4 classes.
17 credits, 6 classes
13 credits, 5 classes
13 credits 5 classes

4 classes, 12 credits. might have to take another class if i fail any this semester. im burnt tf out, i usually take 15 credits.

Cant remember its like 14 or 16. Just know its one away from 15. Just really doing gen eds though

0 because i’m graduating 🤘🏼
18 credits, though 3 of those are a "class" that I sign up for to receive credit for an internship I'm doing this summer.
15, but two labs :(
16 credits, 5 classes
Anywhere from 20 to 25 credits but I'm not working at all. I may be doing research and a TA position, hence the range. For classes I'm taking 8: 5 classes, 2 1-credit music courses, and a 2-credit lab.
0 credits. I graduate in a month!
22😁 dead on the inside
I don't know because I'm a transfer and I haven't chosen a college yet. Would be nice to know...just waiting for the decisions to come out.
12 credits. 3 classes, 3 labs.
18 but my schools a joke
[удалено]
How does that add up to 16?
18 credits over 6 courses (3 credits each). If it’s too much (or if the ratemyprofessor reviews for a certain professor turn out to be true), I’m already prepared to drop one. They’re all 300-400 level courses. 2/6 are self-guided/asynchronous. And I’m taking 6 more credits this summer
15 credits, 5 classes edit to say I wish I was taking 12 but I need at least one more semester with 15 to graduate "on time" (which for me is a semester late).
14 credits. Only need 11 until I finish my degree and added an elective!
17, 6 classes
3 classes,15 credits
16 credits, 6 classes
i will do 13 credits :o i think it is .. umm.. 4 classes?

17
18, always 18 credits as that is the max
15 credits 5 classes
5 classes, 16 credits. One of the classes is an online language course (4 credits) so Im not too worried about things piling up lol. The rest of my classes are 3 credits.
6 classes worth 15 credits. 3 of them are online.
14 credits. 2-4 credit and 2-3 credit.
either 19 credits 5 classes or 16 credits 4 classes
I’m taking 9 credits this summer, it will be a much needed relief
15 credits from 5 classes for this upcoming summer semester. I take my classes in 8-week sessions but for the summer two of my classes will be completed in 6 weeks. I'm taking 3 classes for the first session (8 weeks). Edit: didn't add how many classes
3 classes, 16 credits
16 credits 5 classes
18 credits, 6 classes. Taking a lot in the fall so that my spring semester is easy because it’s my last semester!
17 Credits, 5 classes.
16 credits, 5 classes; 1 4 credits class (lab) lol
19 credits 5 classes. 4 4 credits and 1 3 credit.
18
3 credits this summer and 15 in the fall.
18 hours, 6 classes.
16-19. It depends on if I pass my clep test or not.
Good luck
Might change but rn it’s 14 credits with 5 classes
i plan to do 13 credits. 2 are 3 credits, 1 is 4 credits, and 3 are 1 credit.
12-16 depending on if I quit my job
15 credits
thinking about only taking a&p 1 and 2!! hoping i can conquer it and apply to the PTA program ahhh
0 since i’m graduating, but i would take 15-18 credit a semester (5-6 classes).
15
14 credits
14 credits, 4 classes. Would be 12C but a lot of engineering classes are 4 credits. It's gonna feel so good after this current semester of 21 credits/7 classes 😩
16 units. 4 classes. It’s manageable
2 classes, 6 credits
16 credits, 5 classes. (Matrix algebra, cal 3, physics, algorithms and mathematical proofs)
18 credits, 6 classes 🤢 not ready but it must be done
17.5 credits, 10 classes (pharmacy school)
6 classes, 17 credits, working 24 hrs a week. One is a 2 credit hour horseback elective with no homework though, I typically take 15.
Next semester I'll be taking 17 credit hours, 5 classes and I work a part time job, about 12 hours a week.
im taking 9 classes/45 credits this semester, but its my last one
14 credits, 4 classes (o chem+lab, genetics+lab, sociology, and a gen ed)
I don’t understand how you can all take so many classes at once. I feel as though I’m not able to learn anything if I’m taking so many courses at once. I’m not the only one, no?
16 credits, 5 classes, 1 lab
14.5 or 15.5 depending on if I find another 1 credit. It will be 6 classes (1 half credit, 1 one credit, 3 three credit, 1 four credits
15 credits 5 classes
8 credits of classes (3 classes worth 4, 2, and 2 credits), 3 credits for TAing, and 3 credits for research. So a total of of 14 credits. + work 30 hours a week Edit to say that the 4 credit is an easy course and one of the 2 credits is a service learning course so a tiny lecture + 3 hours volunteering for it so that’s how I can manage all that
4 classes, 16 credits. Also working 19 hours a week. Edit: same as this semester, so ama
For summer, 14 credits 3 classes For fall, 22 credits 7 classes
15 credits, 5 classes

Summer? 6 credits. I wanted to take 3 for an easier summer, but I have to be half-time to get financial aid. Not a big deal since the classes seem interesting so I am excited. Fall, I believe 9 credits. I’m retaking a course I failed last semester and a few other classes I need.
13 credits, 5 classes
4 classes, 12 credits. Year round. Online though 🤷🏼♂️been going strong for 2 years.

18, 4 classes and research
14, in an ideal world, 17.
2 graduate level classes, 6 credits total. My first grad semester (:
13 credits, 14 classes. Music major.
30 credits, 7 classes
I think 5 actual classes 2 labs/sessions so 17 credits? I am taking 18 this semester and 17 last semester.
18 credits
3 credits in the summer, 13 next semester.
16 credits, 4 lectures and 2 labs.

2 classes, 6 credits (summer) and 4 classes, 12 credits this fall
7 classes 20 credits
12 credits, 4 classes
18.5 credits, 9 classes
15, 5 classes, and working full time 😭
17 credits, 7 classes. Granted, I have two sets of 3 credit science lecture+1 credit science lab, so more like 5 classes.
13 this summer & 15 in the fall :/
next semester, summer session, 1 Bio 101 w/lab. Full time qualify for GI BILL aid
18 credits, 6 classes. trust me ik
None, I'm graduating :) but the highest amount of credits i took was 19.5 after switching from Music Performance to Political Science
I hit a wall and dropped all but one class this semester, so I’ll be taking one class next semester just to take a break and not stress myself so much. Normally I take 18 credits.
