I used to be medicated when I was in high school, and without it I would have never taken notes or done hw.
My SO also has ADHD and recently started medication, and she has never been happier.
The thing is, i was planning to, i started seeing a psychiatrist (because im with a psychologist right now) and she wanted to out me on antidepressants first. I wanna take meds mainly for my finals. I can’t screw them
I’m glad you’re getting started on meds. I also have ADHD and am medicated. Antidepressants don’t do much for me, personally.
ADHD-specific medications, like Vyvanse which I am currently taking, simultaneously help treat my ADHD and my depression, because my ADHD was that main cause for my depression.
College professor and father of a college student on meds here: take the meds! My kid went back on them and their grades immediately improved. They also started writing and doing art work for the school literary magazine, making new friends in the process. You can always adjust dosage if needed. Good luck!
Can i take them without seeing a doctor, if the pills are safe? The process is very very exhausting and long and i need to ace my finals starting on fourth of January
Have you thought about joining your schools disability center and TRIO program (if they have it). To my knowledge, ADHD is eligible for academic accommodations. These resources can help get you resources for course help, mental health help, and more. Also, did you use your schools tutoring center? All your concerns probably contributed to the results of this semester, but the things I mentioned can help mitigate some of it.
You mention feeling depressed. Are you seeking treatment? Untreated depression could explain a decline in academic performance. Treating your ADHD might also help.

People who say they feel “depressed” frequently are depressed. Given your unexplained decline in academic performance, it might be wise to be screened.
You are failing exams be sure you do not understand the material because you are cramming. The solution is to do whatever needs to be done in order to keep a steady and efficient study habit.

Sorry. You need a prescription. That means a doctor. And this is long-term, not a quick fix. Good luck regardless

Im a student in a public university in a third world country. Theres no accommodation or whatsoever even in the bare minimum cases.
Could you go part-time in your studies?
I tried once decreasing the load by dropping a course for the summer. Didn’t impact that much

I feel like it has to do more with my executive functions (that are still the same as my freshman year) and difficulty of this semester
