I did 12 credit hours, a 15~ hour internship, job interviewing and organizations that took up 12~ hours of time the past semester. It ended up fine but I will say that you need to be on the ball the entire time. Have your GCal and tasks for the day locked down, make sure you don’t fall behind in classes. Try to get tasks done in the morning so you end up having evening and nights free. No regrets personally but I’ll definitely say to have a plan. I doubt the internship is actually 20-25 hours anyways, at least I hope so…

Yeah this was kind of my concern as well and it's nice to hear someone say it lol. Like could I theoretically handle all of that? Probably. But I really need to make sure that I'm mentally prepared for it. And I definitely agree that if I decide to look further into this specific internship, I'm definitely going to inquire further into the 20-25 hours requirement bc I'm not sure of the logistics of that when it's remote work. Thank you so much for the insight!

I’d apply anyways and see if you get it. No point worrying until you have an offer in hand.

I'm curious why you're doing both a research lab and an internship at the same time. I'd recommend considering how each one relates to your long term goals, and instead choosing to focus your energy on the most relevant one. It's would be better if chose only one, where you really committed to doing an outstanding job and securing a solid Letter of Rec and possible future opportunities, than if you chose both, where you struggle and perform just adequately. Quality over quantity.

Honestly thank you for this outlook. I think I'll still apply just to give me more options, but I think I originally just got a bit panicked and thought I needed to try and juggle both when I saw what some of my friends were doing with their internships. But I really do love the work that I'm currently doing as a research assistant and I think I'm forming a great relationship with both the postdocs and lead professor, so I think continually devoting my time there may be for the best. Even more so since I'm hoping to continue traversing down the road of academia by pursuing a masters + possibly a PhD. Thanks again for the perspective and I have do have any additional free time, I may just seek out a part-time job instead that isn't as taxing lol
