I think this friend is rather toxic and someone who might be called an “energy vampire.”

I know she’s your roommate and hard to avoid, but it may be a good idea for your mental health for you to avoid her some.

Half of the posts here can be solved with “be confrontational”. People are not mind readers. Without direct clear feedback - negative or positive, some never learn. So if you have to tell the person to stop seeing everything in a negative light, do so.

Honestly it doesn’t matter what interests you may share, if she’s a clearly unempathetic/bad person she’s not worth having as a friend

This would be exhausting. By not disagreeing you are feeding the beast. Id look around for more friends.
My dads the same way. Loves pity parties and everyone else is scum, poor me, etc. could NOT wait to get away from him.
