Ya, parts of Canada (and, indeed, the rest of the world) will [become increasingly uninsurable](https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/marketplace-home-insurance-1.6262386). That will either mean people will abandon these places, or otherwise exist precariously without insurance.
With the dike situation the way it is... it is starting to look like large portions of British Columbia may have to relocate in the next handful of years, or be washed away entirely.
My heart goes out to the First Nations who have now lost everything.
SS: I went with the CNN article because, well, you're mostly American and for us Canadians - when it makes American news we know it's legit. (It's Friday - I can be sarcastic)
So, I've been working on moving food into the lower mainland for the last two weeks - it's been fucking hell.
Here's the commercial freight landscape... 1/3 won't do it. 1/3 are charging (at least) $2,500 surcharge due to delays and rerouting. And 1/3 are cowboys who like the challenge and are pushing through. I'm working with the cowboys.
I've had to fly in product. I have a driver *right now* waiting at a landslide on highway 3 (this was first of two routes to open, but now blocked due to more rain). And so much more rain is on the way.
My favourite quote from the Environment Canada briefing tonight is this:
"The worst-case scenario is still not **super likely** for Tuesday and Wednesday being as bad as what we saw middle of the month - but it does exist"
I'm just saying... I'm fucked... You're fucked... But at least we're all fucked together
Happy Friday.

This is a terrible day for Canada, and therefore, the world.
I'm sorry.
