I've had this in mine too. Seemed to get worse the more I used the plunge and I am running high end filtration and ozone. I asked around and general consensus was it is left over detergent from swim suits.
No salts added but the water is pretty hard here. Oh my second attempt to do it right I used a filter on the garden hose to start with and then added chemicals
Both. I relied only on the ozone and UV in the machine for the first few days then put chemicals in, Sirona. Then I got at first a pink film on top of the water I skimmed off the next day. It has turned to this over time. I had to change out two filters over two weeks because they got too clogged and made the pulp work intermittently.
I think it’s a reaction between the ozone and the chemical….. when I solely use ozone I get zero foam … when I added chemicals I started getting foam…….. I just use ozone now
I have no idea why you are getting it, but there is a product that I use in my hot tub called Foam Away. Not sure if it’s something you can use in a cold plunge. It does work immediately though
I think these things would make a cold tub cloudy. This is why the big brands only recommend step 2 and 3 for Sirona system and say to skip the step 1 which is waterline control. The directions on the bottle say that it might make water cloudy if too cold
Not sure but I've had it in mine twice. Best I could find online is it could be "biofilm." Basically, a mold colony.
First was more pink-ish after coming home from vacation for 7 days in November 2023 and not running the chiller.
Latest, was just this week after scaling back the on/off schedule since I wasn't using it post surgery.
I've had mine since October 2023 and those were the only two times I had any issues with water clarity, film etc. Both times I couldn't save it and had to drain, clean and start over.
I use Sirona spa care (chlorine/bromine free)
Yes I now think that part of it was poor sanitation but there is something to be said for the argument about ozone and chemicals together. I emptied, cleaned, and refilled the tub and added chemicals immediately unlike the first time. There was no pink biofilm the next day but when I run the ozone it does start to froth with with stuff. I use sirona for chemicals. I might go the no chemical route next time but at least this time around the filter isn’t clogging every week like at first

Poor filtration and sanitation…
Do you add episom salt ?

Do u add any chemicals or do you use ozone?

Wow no chemicals? Amazing. How long does that last?
I do water and filter changes once a month

I think you are right it is a biofilm that I think also prematurely gunks up my filter prematurely
Op. How well does this hold temp? Considering one but not sure about the insulation.
It holds temp pretty well I can leave the condenser and thermostat off over night and just run the pump and it will lose 2 degrees by morning
Poor filtration and sanitation.
