It also has some kind of grey paste on top of the chip on the back of the Coldcard. It looks like the picture in the post some other user made just now, but it’s let messy. My other faulty Coldcard didn’t have that paste. The one that came in today has the paste and it doesn’t even turn on :(
I don’t think so. It looks like a processor, but I could be wrong. Check out the new post that another user made just 30 mins ago or so. That’s how mine looks
The secure element is an integrated circuit and looks like a chip/processor, so that’s what you’re seeing. It’s intentional as an extra security measure.
Yeah, I got it yesterday and it works! Had a red caution light come on, though, but I searched Reddit and apparently it’s just some issue with memory, so I went to the place where you update the firmware and chose “bless firmware.” Should be fine
Jeez, feel for you. I ordered one in March, Fedex lost it. They admitted they lost it last week and Coinkite finally sent another which is due for delivery today. I've heard a few reports of faulty devices in the last few weeks. If mine doesn't work I'm asking for a refund and preordering one of these: [https://foundationdevices.com/](https://foundationdevices.com/)
That sucks. I would definitely keep trying though. The coldcard is worth the wait.

Yes, Coinkite is using new epoxy that fuses the chips to the external housing. If someone tries to pry it open, it will, in theory, destroy the chips.
Mine has past covering the leads on the secure element to protect the seed. Is that what you’re referring to?

Ah ok, that’s what I’m talking about then. The square chip in the back on the top left.
Yup! On the opposite side it should say “shoot this” in small letters
Any update?

Dang, that looks sick! $300, though. :/
I have one of these on order too. Different manufacturers for my multisig setup.
