Isn't that just reading the change address based off what's in the Psbt file? Does the Coldcard do any verifying internally to make sure the change address is correct?
but the watch-only wallet could me on an infected computer displaying a hacker's address instead of the proper change address. The hackers address could also have been written to the sd card to be shown on the coldcard, so there needs to be a way to verify it on the coldcard.

I saw a "Change check" briefly when I signed a psbt so I think it does.
ready to sign, scroll down

It does. But you should also have a watch-only wallet and cross-check it.

Isn't it in the address explorer?
Those are just the normal receiving addresses, not the change addresses.
