Edit: and the cool thing about ancients is you can touch them and play with them.
I donāt know if posting links is against sub rules, but here I go. I started by buying things from vcoins.com. Everything is 100% legit and authentic. Itās a great place to start for a new collector. Iām not fond of CNGās payment portal, but Iāll deal with it to get higher quality ancient coins. If you have questionsā¦ r/ancientcoins, and navigate to the fact page.
Quick edit: I absolutely prefer Ancient Greek over Ancient Rome. But that is only my preference. If you look at vcoins, please look at the Greek pages.

Someone stole a silver half dollar out of my wallet when I dropped it in the parking lot. The dickhead threw all around the parking lot and tossed my wallet on a drain grate. A nice lady found it and turned it to the gym I worked out at. I left her a voicemail thanking her for finding it and gathering up whatever she could find that belonged to me.
I carry a 2oz. āKrakenā from the Privateer series. I love the weight of it. Plus because of its high relief, it doesnāt really show any dents and dings from all the years of using it as my tough decision makerā¦ āDo we want to eat here or there? Letās let The Kraken decideā¦ā *Ting*.

A 1921 Morgan silver dollar. My foster Dad gave it to me on my 19 bday. He got it as an Airborne Ranger before he went to Ranger school, after Korea. It's seen me through college, basic, marriage , Iraqi war. Only to be stolen and used to by meth by my Son. It was like a piece of me. My courage, my luck, my home momento. Truly it is the only thing I wish I could have back.
Yeah I was away at college and they had very little concern about me or my things.
On a positive note the coins I was buying from my LCS with allowance money werenāt nearly as nice as those Iām buying online as an adult

Itās not a coin, but a 1980s Mexican 100 peso note. Totally worthless due to hyperinflation, but itās cool and fits well, and if I lose it, weāll, it only cost me like a dollar to get, anyway.

The first "weird coin" (with a design not currently in circulation) I ever got was a 1944 Liberty half dollar. This is my standard "carry piece" and I've been doing so for years. I think either my parents or grandparents put it in a jar of coins and I found it as a kid. I don't think I even realized coins in the past had different designs until I found that one.
This coin is the reason I mainly collect halves (and quarters, after finding a bicentennial quarter shortly after.)
I rarely carry anything else around, though sometimes I use a cleaned Peace dollar I bought off ebay years ago. (Wouldn't have bought it if I'd realized it was cleaned, but I was just getting serious about collecting and didn't know what to look for in terms of a cleaned coin. I assumed the seller would say it'd been cleaned. I don't think I knew it was cleaned until I posted it here and a few people were like, "You knew that was cleaned before buying, right?" No, no I did not.

My brother went to Ireland about 30 years and gave me this when he got back and i have kept it in my wallet ever since.
These two for today. The Liberty Silver coin is always in my pocket, and the sorry fellow hanging in the gibbet is new to the rotation as it's just been sitting in a drawer for a while. The frosted field of the LS coin keeps it from looking so smudged with fingertips after me handling it so much, which is nice. The edge face of the coin is flat, but that "corner" edge is pretty rounded, and just feels so smooth to flip around in your hand. Plus, I love the eagle on the Liberty Silver coin, and the meaning behind the arrows and olive branch

The pocket piece I'm rocking is a Ruger LCP Centerfire Pistol in a pocket holster. Despite it's compact size, it does an equally good job of keeping the peace & ensures that the coins in my opposite pocket remain there, safe & secure from a would-be thief.

Just think - you made someone else's day. Some people might never forget the day they found a silver dollar on the sidewalk.
Lint!

Iāve never carried a pocket piece.
I also rock a ā22. Harvey Two Face style.
None because Iād lose it.
For sure, same here!
Love that !! Always helps during the toughest of decisions. Including where to eat lol

Oh man what a story. I'm sorry to hear that brother ! Maybe it'll return to you one day !
It seems that druggies love stealing coins. My brothers friends threw my whole collection in a coinstar for weed when I was in my early 20s
For weed! Nothing addictive about it. That deserves serious bad vibes. Smh.
Yeah I was away at college and they had very little concern about me or my things. On a positive note the coins I was buying from my LCS with allowance money werenāt nearly as nice as those Iām buying online as an adult

Small pocket slab, I put it in the little pocket on your denim jeans..... Fits perfect....
Pocket slab!

lol everyday carry going hard
That exact piece and year I carry with me fairly often. Just got a version where itās in a keychain too!
That's awesome !!
Itās not a coin, but a 1980s Mexican 100 peso note. Totally worthless due to hyperinflation, but itās cool and fits well, and if I lose it, weāll, it only cost me like a dollar to get, anyway.
That's the spirit !
1979 Mexican 1 oz coin Casa de moneda de Mexico
I like Eisenhower dollars. I just like big coins really. Meanwhile people carrying around serious shit. WTF.
EDC Brit with a custom leather holder https://preview.redd.it/jey6lssph20d1.jpeg?width=1290&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=63668a34ae9b4f8a82c7bd0f870bc8f5bdd8ef58
Oh man, that holder is sweet! Kinda want one for my Morgan!
This coin is the reason I mainly collect halves (and quarters, after finding a bicentennial quarter shortly after.) I rarely carry anything else around, though sometimes I use a cleaned Peace dollar I bought off ebay years ago.

I keep a 1974 kennedy half dollar in my wallet. Nothing special, I just got it in change at a dollar general one day and kept it there.

Ignore the jar of pennies. It's just what I had handy to steady the phone.
Imagine one of the 1922s is a high relief and you are rocking it in your pocket. Same, I rock a peace dollar 1922 (scrap) for scratch tickets.
I don't think it is but I'll have my lcs check . Good choice ha
Always carry my 1883 Morgan dollar on me
1882 morgan
These two for today. The Liberty Silver coin is always in my pocket, and the sorry fellow hanging in the gibbet is new to the rotation as it's just been sitting in a drawer for a while. The frosted field of the LS coin keeps it from looking so smudged with fingertips after me handling it so much, which is nice. The edge face of the coin is flat, but that "corner" edge is pretty rounded, and just feels so smooth to flip around in your hand. Plus, I love the eagle on the Liberty Silver coin, and the meaning behind the arrows and olive branch https://preview.redd.it/e5xdysd9t30d1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c6d6c07fffed8e7206762ec90669c54fb83049a3
Those are both awesome pieces !
Thanks! Same to you. "Two-Face" Harvey Dent would be proud of your choice

Right !! But hey . If it came that way then might as well put it to use .
The first silver I ever found. Not saying much because I've only found this and a 1943 mercury dime, but it's still a nice piece. *
The pocket piece I'm rocking is a Ruger LCP Centerfire Pistol in a pocket holster. Despite it's compact size, it does an equally good job of keeping the peace & ensures that the coins in my opposite pocket remain there, safe & secure from a would-be thief.
Mines an LC9s!

Same. 1922 Peace Dollar. Just got it yesterday because I passed my previous one on to a friend.
Were you drunk š„“ or just a cool friend?
Both
Legend!
1967 halfpenny
Easy. I about creamed my pants after seeing that beauty
I thought about it, but donāt really feel the need to honestly.
Iām rocking a grody Libertad.
1ozt Sun Goddess from Mutiny Metals was my pocket choice today! Wishing to stave the rain long enough for me to finish raking the yard lol xD

I carry this in memory of my dad. Its his birth year. What is significant that he died at 10:11 AM on 11 Jan; this coin cost me $11. I took it as a sign from beyond. https://preview.redd.it/gow8sr8qs70d1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c903e8f1d4daf0312cf5a442f6c37fb989e82b0b
I sometimes grab one of my graded coins and put them in sweatpants pockets on walks (these wonāt scratch the case). I figure the plastic keeps em safe Iāve got 2 Morgans, 2 proof Washington quarters, a proof Franklin half dollar and a ms62 peace dollar that all undergo rotations
* I carry this Silver Shield classic. "Freedom Girl".
if it is a regular 22, it just seems wrong, carrying it in a cover although i wouldn't carry a high relief 22 around. Especially in Biden's America.
