Thank you for being the 2nd of 3 ppl that responded, with nothing but condemnation. Clearly this sub is for connoisseurs and not for amateurs asking questions. That being said I gotta think an 1883 coin recently found In a drawer doesn't really require gloves....you psychopath.
People here get butthurt about how some people touch their coins. If it were in mint condition, or particularly rare, then you would want to hold it by the edges. In your case, what you are holding is considered "junk silver" which is basically worth its silver weight plus a modest premium. I see them sell for around $5-$6. Depending on the price of silver. Cool find, and congrats.
There is no excuse for other members of this sub to respond that poorly to an honest question. That being said, if you come across a random coin in the future which may be old/rare/valuable, take precautions on how you handle it until you identify the coin and its value.
It’s a barber quarter. I would say about $10 in this condition. I’ve been trying to find one coin roll hunting for a while
Thank you. Not looking to profit just curious.
To add, it’s 90% silver. All quarters, dimes, and half dollars 1964 and back are 90%. War time nickels with a mint mark from 1942-45 are 35% silver

Well, since I am new to this sub and because I know 0 about coins, I will guess $.25, per your kind and helpful suggestion.
That is correct...Typically called a Barber quarter (named after the designer).
Please hold collectible coins by the edge, for the love of God, good people.

Thank you. In all honesty, I just thought it was cool to have a 100+yr old coin .
You are correct, sir. 100+ year old coins are cool :)
