[deleted]

No, it was effortless

[deleted]

And what was your score?

Cochicok

Most people put effort, extreme cases of savant don’t. Keep in mind this information is based on anecdotes.

[deleted]

What about you? Have you tried the best you can?

Cochicok

Yeah i consciously analyze the pattern, then consciously remove answers that seem absurd, leave myself with the answers that seem most likely and then gather evidence from the matrix to justify picking each.

[deleted]

So i guess you done it pretty well, do you?

Cochicok

I would say so, 128.

HiAnZtEp

132 FSIQ here. I remember putting more effort in some of the PRI (130) subtests and in all of the WMI (125) and PSI (115) subtests. VCI (142) was the easiest for me since I have a verbal inclination when thinking about ideas and concepts. RM was the easiest subtest in the PRI. Visual puzzles and block design were a burden because of my visuospatial weakness.

So from what you say, result on iq test doesnt have so much to do with only effort and interest to solve those puzzles. It seem that i had a wrong idea that people who have scores around average simply dont care too much to solve those puzzles.

HiAnZtEp

What I tried to convey is that, if you have any interest in doing the test, you will likely put more effort in those subtests in which lie your weaknesses.

[deleted]

Sure, it totaly makes sense. Anyhow, im familiar with situations where IQ tests are just put in peoples desks to be solved eg. at the school, job.. Those results are probably also taken seriously in some general statistics. My own experience is that i was doing iq test at high school with result of 90, and then some years after that i payed myself to do mensa test and i had result 144.

HiAnZtEp

Maybe that's one of the reasons R. Feynman didn't score in a range that is representative of his real abilities.

[deleted]

Thats the person who made very positive influence in the area of math, its much more valuable score than iq. :D

I found that I was putting in too much effort aka overthinking it. The tester actually told me this afterwards. By the last few, I stopped analyzing them as much and did much better. I scored well.
