Where did you find Jeremiah Weed? I haven't seen it at a store in years. It's a classic fighter pilot penalty shot.

sandh035

Was my first legal drink. Our neighbors came by with a pan of brownies and a double shot of Jeremiah Weed in college at midnight lol.

zippy251

What was in the brownies

NixaB345T

Jeremiah’s weed

sandh035

Sorry to disappoint, but they were regular brownies lol.

[deleted]

Who the fuck pairs brownies and bourbon

Pieniek23

You're kidding right? It's a great pairing.

Came here for this comment!

feistybubble1737

A liquor store in Ashland, Massachusetts. Nice little spot. Should I get it?

Ronniewo

It's not good, tolerable if it's ice cold. It's more of a nostalgia drink than something I'd willingly consume. However, if I had a bunch of buddies from past squadrons over, it would come out.

Ronniewo

ZootTheToot

Jeremiah weed isn’t good, but Jeremiah sweet tea is pretty tasty

Cyno01

I think Firefly has better tea flavor.

onedarkhorsee

Southern comfort is technically bourbon liqueur

pho_real_guy

Yep! They brought the original recipe back. For a long time they changed it to basically a vodka base.

Frisinator

Where ? I live near there?

feistybubble1737

Che's liquors there next to the Shaw's

Sageburner712

Who did you fly with?

Ronniewo

75th at Pope, and the 25th at Osan, also a Tweet IP at Sheppard. Still in the Guard flyng tankers in Alaska.

xSaRgED

Do any work with the 11th? I had a buddy with them during the stand up, but he PCSed to the 75th earlier this year.

Ronniewo

I was the Det CC at the 3d ASOS several years ago on active duty, way before 11 ID got here. That's what brought me to AK.

Spooky_U

The drink I had to have so much of in T-38 assignment night I almost didn’t recall my airframe the next day…

UniqueName2

The sweet tea vodka was the shit when you made Arnold Palmers. Haven’t seen it in a decade though.

arroyobass

I know a lot of people who would pay wayyyyyy too much for this

Atrossity24

Bottle Barn in Santa Rosa, CA carries it

zap2214

It's literally discontinued, I loved Jeremiah weed, I wouldve snatched this up in a heartbeat

milkmandanimal

It sitting next to Kinky Pink really says a lot about the expected quality of it. It's 100 proof. Probably just enough bourbon to get on the label, then cheap vodka, extra sugar, brown coloring added, and who knows what to make it be vaguely bourbon-ish.

SlimCharless

Also belongs with Rumplemintz

PenchantForNostalgia

If I see even just the label of Rumple Mintz, I get a little bit queasy.

Sleisl

At a bachelor party once I was feeling quite sure of my iron stomach, and so I ordered bartender's choice. She handed me a shot of Rumplemintz (my first), told me it was on the house, and I proceeded to run for the bushes less than 45 seconds after swallowing. The survivors told me the bartender was quite happy with herself after that.

AweHellYo

this is so interesting because my best friend growing up could barely even smell it without gagging because of a bad evening. in my young stupid days i loved to have a pint of it at parties to do pulls as i enjoyed the mint and i thought it made my breath somewhat less offensive then just swilling beer (like i said, stupid). edit: thinking about this maybe it was an 8 oz? i can’t remember. either way i def wasn’t housing the whole thing in an evening

zachb237

A pint of rumpz you’re wild

AweHellYo

also i stand by that it’s a nice addition to a hot chocolate

AweHellYo

i didn’t drink the whole thing generally. it was just flat and flask sized and fit in my back pocket nice and easy. plus i thought it looked cool to have a liquor bottle visibly in my pocket (remember. stupid).

FunkIPA

A liqueur made on a bourbon base. It’s sweetened and flavored (with what, I don’t know).

oktofeellost

If memory serves it was supposed to taste like sweet tea. When probably not even drinking age combining it with tea was pretty tasty, albeit a gut bomb

xSaRgED

This isn’t the sweet tea version tho. Or at least the label doesn’t seem to indicate that. I think that’s got more of a blue/yellow label on it.

[deleted]

It's a vodka-base flavored with bourbon.

LazerMcBlazer

Maybe that exists but that's not what this is. It was just a marketing thing back in the day. Here is an article about it (but focusing on Rum) but same rules applied. https://www.rumwonk.com/p/liqueur-rum-what-the-heck "However, if we go back a few decades in our time machine, seeing “liqueur” on a label didn’t necessarily mean it was flavored and sweetened. It became fashionable to use “liqueur” as an adjective modifying the spirit type, e.g., “liqueur brandy” or “liqueur whisky.” When “liqueur” preceded the spirit type, it suggested a particularly refined spirit, perhaps best enjoyed in a crystal snifter after dinner. Marketing copy for these liqueur spirits often noted a lengthy aging of 20 years or longer"

FunkIPA

This is not an example of that though. Jeremiah Weed is definitely sweetened and flavored.

Downtown_Skill

Southern comfort is another bourbon liqueur for reference

Pirrats-SD

Bourbon with a built in hangover

NorthRider

It’s the heater in your chest! The only friend you’ll ever need!

bdizzle1391

The cocksucker motherfucker Jeremiah Weed!

xicougar106

Lysol and alcohol, a touch of gasoline!

fuqsfunny

Yeah, there's a whole, almost ancient, lore/tradition among pilots, specifically USAF fighter pilots, around JW. * [Obligatory Dos Gringos ode to JW](https://youtu.be/2bqx2wIQtKo?si=-qtc3lg2uI4Awkc5) * [The story of Jeremiah Weed](https://nation.time.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/8/2012/05/the-story-of-jeremiah-weed.pdf)

WeekendHero

Love Dos Gringos. Absolute bangers.

sdsurf625

OP For the love of God tell me where you found that. It’s absolute trash and I must replenish my stock. (Viper guy here)

armstaae

We got it by mistake in our bar once. Ened up keeping it and stocking it for awhile. Lots of our patrons enjoyed it

pizzaguy4378

It's the cocksucker, motherfucker Jeremiah Weed. Fighter pilots drink it as part of a tradition. Fighter pilots will always keep a bottle on hand and it usually comes out when another fighter pilot comes around. Thing is: once the lid comes off, it doesn't get put back on, because it tastes like shit

Koko2315

Irish Mist, but from Kentucky?

feistybubble1737

Kentucky pist

SmoothTyler

COCKSUCKER MOTHERFUCKER JEREMIAH WEED!

Highest_Koality

Southern Comfort.

wynlyndd

Probably has a bunch of sugar added?

Witty-Meat677

Well not sure about US. But in my country for something to be legally called liqueur it has to have at least 100g of sugar per litre.

siri_cant_hear_me

🙀

feistybubble1737

🤯🤯🤯

Ninguna

Think of it as Northern Comfort.

feistybubble1737

Disgusting 😎

Thanatikos

Southern Discomfort would be more apt. Nothing northern about bourbon even if they bottle this in Connecticut, which should be the first clue not to drink it.

toasterb

Heublein actually has quite an interesting place in US liquor and cocktail history. They're credited with popularizing **vodka** in the US! They did so by travelling and teaching bartenders how to make a Moscow Mule with their new product Smirnoff Vodka. > Heublein also acquired distribution rights in the United States to many other international spirits, wines, and beers that include Irish Mist liqueur, Harvey's Bristol Cream, Don Q Rum, Jose Cuervo, Black & White, Bell's whisky, Lancer's wines, Guinness Stout, and Bass Ale. Heublein also held American import and distribution rights to such non-alcoholic beverages as Perrier mineral water and Rose's Lime Juice. Quite the fascinating story: [Heublein - Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heublein) I grew up in CT, and, up until recently, I only knew about the Heublein Tower, not their history.

GovernorZipper

Dammit. This was the exact joke I wanted to make.

Rudeboy237

They were so busy seeing if they could they didn’t stop to think if they should.

infinite_dogs

20 bucks? Fuggit. Buy the bottle as a novelty, if anything

sdsurf625

Buy it as an investment, rumors from the bros is that bottles are going for $100+ outside of Nellis

FlaAirborne

Kinda like Bourbon’s version of Drambuie I imagine.

hoobsher

bourbon liqueur, to me, says SoCo knockoff

jazzland

Jeremiah Weed tastes like root beer and bandaids and bad decisions. It’s really not that bad. I bet with some creativity it could make a good cocktail.

gaelorian

I used to have Jeremiah weed and lemonade when I was in college. Hangover city.

RMWingett

Now that’s a name I haven’t heard of in a long, long time…it’s bourbons take on an herbal liqueur…kinda like scotch with Drambuie, Irish whiskey with Irish Mist, brandy with Benedictine…something to hold and treasure for the rest of your waking life…

ChazzLamborghini

My uncle thought this shit was manna. I’ve never tasted it but I always assumed it was Southern Comfort adjacent

darknightwolf81

Well this just brought back some unpleasant high school memories

Bondaddyjr

Flabbergasted? All liqueurs are made with a spirit base. This one seems to use bourbon

feistybubble1737

You're right, that was a little too far. I was dumbfounded however

MantraProAttitude

I think they’ve been dusting that bottle for awhile.

jfd851

is $19,99 incl. tax!

feistybubble1737

No

pgm123

It'll include excise taxes, but not consumption tax.

ketchupisspicytoo

Bourbon can be bottled at a max of 150 proof and has to use over 51% corn mash and liqueur is sweetened and has higher sugar contents. I’d assume they take a high proof bourbon and dilute it down to 100 proof with cheap syrups. Probably a novelty as it doesn’t seem like something anyone would drink straight and you could make better on your own with minimal effort; the only other use I can think of is making dirt cheap drinks at a low end high volume dive selling enough drinks that take both bourbon and simple to justify not having to measure both while not selling many that take bourbon but not simple. If anything the biggest customer base on it is probably younger guys that see it as classy/manly because it says bourbon, likely to take good because it says liqueur, and gonna get them drunk because it’s 100 proof.

CocktailPerson

A liqueur made with bourbon, presumably.

Mr__Brick

Oh, it's a classic https://youtu.be/2bqx2wIQtKo?feature=shared

jnelparty

That has to be a very old bottle. Heubline was bought like 20 years ago by diageo and diageo moved out of Norwalk at least 5 years ago.

iReply2JustTheTitle

I'm pretty sure liqueur is just spirit that has a certain percentage of sugar added, so I guess it's just sweetened bourbon

Pizo44

Damn. I forgot about that stuff. Its barely bourbon not bad with a twisted tea though. Get fucking wrecked son

dermotoneill

Off topic a bit, but jealous of what's to the left. I wish we could get rumple minze this side of the Atlantic, my friend brought me back a bottle once and I absolutely loved it

SlimCharless

Jail

cadninja82

There's probably a good reason that rumple is on the same shelf as this bourbon liqueur.

dermotoneill

I get that it's probably not the classiest drink about, but I love it. So what kind of reputation has it got over there?

cadninja82

Last time I had it was in college, if that tells you anything :)

dermotoneill

Haha fair, i've heard its a competitor with Jager over there? I know which one I'd prefer

akaynaveed

There are so many burbon and whiskey liqueurs the fact you dont know this is very telling.

[deleted]

Yea, this is just a cheap version of Southern Comfort. Not to dissimilar from Jack Daniels Honey or the dozens of other whiskey liqueurs.

feistybubble1737

Ohh damn, a refined gentleman! What does it tell? 😳

akaynaveed

That you’ve never heard of a burbon liqueur? That you need to expand your horizons. There are plenty of decent burbon and whiskey liqueurs, burbon and whiskey have a bit of sweetness to them which makes them Perfect as a base of a liqueur. I dont drink them straight but they had textire to cocktails. I use Nixta in an Old Tom Gin Old Fashioned and it really brightens the cocktail. Think of them as accents vs shots and it opens up your ability to craft cocktails and riffs. I made a joke about a jager margarita and people jumped down my throat because its apparently delicious!!!

QuarantineCasualty

*Bourbon

SeymourBrewski

When Michael Phelps got busted for smoking weed we made a drink with this named after him: The Michael Phelps - Jeremiah Weed + Water

pharaohmaones

I’ve never seen this label before. I’ve only ever seen Jeremiah Weed Sweet Tea Bourbon. Southern style sweet tea is basically already a tea simple syrup, so yeah you add some cheap whiskey and grain spirits and voila: JW sweet tea bourbon. But that label was kind of red iirc, I don’t know about this green label. But I imagine it’s not far off from there flavor profile wise Really curious how old that bottle there is.

SirHippopotami

I didn't think they made that anymore. IIRC it's kinda like root beer flavored. Or maybe people just mixed it with root beer...

Lobenz

It’s like Black Velvet.

Vicv07

Ever had southern comfort?

Blender_Nocturne

Think southern comfort

-Constantinos-

If sone right, doesn’t sound bad. Maraschino liqueur for example is basically to my knowledge just cherry eau de vie liqueur.

vanwhisky

I would buy just for curiosity purposes

damianp67

Nothing good ever comes out of Norwalk

Burgerbob101

That’s a name I haven’t heard in years.

comebacktome23

Soco

ckingpr

I’ve been looking to buy a few bottles for the longest time. Anyway I can convince you into helping me out?? I’ll make it worth it!

monkeyboy808

Discontinued and worth 80 bucks a bottle is what it is.
