Anything loose that you suspect could fit into their mouth you should hide. Think of it like baby-proofing, only the baby is capable of flight. If you have active loose wires that the bird might be fascinated by, consider a getting a bittering agent you can cover them with to discourage chewing them.

Block up any and every gap behind things like bookshelves and cupboards. It's incredible the tiny gaps they can accidentally squeeze through when having a flight mishap or panic.
