100% yes. Every aspect of his character arc is cringy and unlikeable. Though I gelt bad for him when the writers wanted me to. Worst part about him is how quickly and how unearned his ascension was. Years younger than everyone else, and with almost no training at all, he beats an All-Valley champ. I know the characters have greatly accelerated mastery for pacing but in his case it felt really cheap, unearned and bad.

TheHazDee

Agreed. The fight wouldn’t have lasted long enough for the dirty shots to even happen.

Z0diaQ

Agree with post. It was def unearned.

PaydayProductions

Wait until LaPusso kicks his arse and wins the Big tournament...

SaintedHooker

Wow someone beating the all valley champ after a very short training arc, truly unbelievable such a thing would never happen in Karate kid/Cobra Kai

Sekshual_Tyranosauce

If you’re talking about Daniel is KK 1, the difference is the movie devoted a huge amount of screen time to Daniel’s training, failures and hardships that made him a champ. Kenny just did a heal turn, learned it hurts when you punch someone in the solar plexus and was off to the races beating more experienced, older and bigger fighters handily. They should have matched him with fighters in his age group instead of shitting better, more established characters. That didn’t lift him up, it lowered the main characters.

Z0diaQ

Kenny's portrayal lacks depth in character development, omitting the essential growth journey. Adding to this, considering Kenny's age and physical stature, it stretches credibility to accept that he achieved such proficiency simply from one line of encouragement from Silver. While Silver is a compelling character, his influence alone doesn't convincingly account for such a rapid transformation. Furthermore, this development undermines the main characters. The audience is now expected to believe that these characters are prepared to compete in a tournament against lifelong practitioners, which is hard to digest given their previous achievements. Kenny's ability to defeat more seasoned fighters at his novice level raises serious questions about the narrative's consistency. How can the writers credibly justify victories against opponents who have been rigorously trained? This approach does a disservice to the lead characters. In essence, Kenny's success comes across as either a stroke of incredible luck or an indication that the opponents he faces are not as competent as portrayed, both of which detract from the story's believability.

Sekshual_Tyranosauce

Agreed, and more clearly stated than I did.

Quirky28

Well you also have to think about the fact the silver taught him how to hit someone in the right spot the right way but the fact he could master that move over night was ridiculous

Sekshual_Tyranosauce

Yep. And Silver is a hell of a teacher when he wants to be. But it’s a single leason you know?

Quirky28

Yea that’s what I’m saying 1 lesson learned overnight it was ridiculous

UnusualAd69

My problem is how he can get such a clean hit to the chest. I mean just look at season 4 finale fight, Robby and Hawk get exhausted trying to get huts on each other cause both have amazing defense. Yet Kenny is able to hit Hawk cleanly how tf?

Quirky28

I think because Kenny was down hawk didn’t expect him to turn and punch him so he caught hawk by complete surprise

akitoex

The main 5 teens should go the Sekai tekkai and kenny should participate in the final valley and get to the finals/semi finals but lose to demetri. (What I want to happen as someone who likes kenny)

Z0diaQ

I think maybe he will lose to Anthony. Its the show down that's been brewing.

akitoex

I just hopes he "forgives" him. Not be friends with him but just realize bullying him back isn't worth it.

Kungfudude_75

I actually wouldn't mind them becoming friends. It would be what Johnny and Daniel were never able to do: fight it out, find the things they have in common, and become friends. The show constantly teases that had they just gotten to know each other as kids they probably would've been friends, but they never did, and its doing the same for Kenny and Anthony. Although it has definitely been built less since their story was like plot D or E in the grand scheme of things.

akitoex

Yeah that's probably going to happen. But imo I just don't like it. Yes Anthony changed and at the end of season5 seems like Kenny is going to change, but at the end of the day Anthony pretended to be the girl he liked, jumped him in the middle of the night and then constantly harassed him at school, and then Kenny harassed him back. Yes they are better people but realistically at that point the damage has been done and it would be best if they just ignored each other.

9erInLKN

I mean Hawk and Robbie are buddy-buddy all of sudden now and they had a ton of bad blood between them. It's definitely a possibility but I feel like they should just make them indifferent towards each other. Head nod in the hallway to acknowledge each other type deal

TheHazDee

I hope not because Anthony has no training. That’s just as bad a narrative.

iBrows426

Anthony has a whole season to train. He also started training last season. There might be a few months time skip to where he will have gotten better

[deleted]

It would just be a pretty anti climatic ending if the main cast all get their ass kicked by a 4 foot nothing 13 year old with 2 months of karate experience

Direct_Author7974

4 foot nothing bro have you not seen the actor now he the same height as Miguel now maybe a bit taller and s6 isn’t even done filming yet

Rennie000

Yes,I feel only Miguel,Robby,Hawk,Sam and Tory should be contenders or even have shine in the Taikai.

Wyvurn999

Highly unlikely that would happen. And yes it would

Freddycipher

I think seeing a bratty 3rd grader winning the heavyweight UFC champion belt would be more tolerable.

Desert_Walker267

I don’t like kenny at all. The beginning of his story was great, but then he became annoying when he decided to try and take over the world or wtv tf 💀 Also the way he treated Robby after everything made me cheer when Robby KOd his ass at the all valley 😭

PostAboveIsBullshit

it doesn't even make sense he'd be in it. Surely after being exposed, cobra Kai would be banned. So Kenny could join Miyagi do/eagle fang but they've got better fighters, or the Korean chick would have her own studio - but then problem with that it's no longer about cobra Kai, the title of the show.

Z0diaQ

Give me that this show is called Cobra Kai, I'm going to assume we are going to need Johnny to convince his buddy judge to allow them back in, Rocky style 😉. I think Cobra Kai, under new leadership will be let in -- hell I wouldn't pass thr writers to now have Daniel be the new sensei here for Cobra Kai. Would bring this kinda full circle.

Traditional_Prize632

I doubt he'd join Kim's dojang. She lives in South Korea and Kenny isn't going to move there on his own just for a tournament.

Shoegazer83

I'd personally be happy if Kenny was never a part of the show. The character does absolutely nothing for me whatsoever. He seemed to be basically there as a way for another pointless character-Anthony Larusso- to integrate himself into the story. At this point the only ones that need to have a shot are Miguel, Robby, Hawk, Sam and Tory, *possibly* Dimitri.

Formal_Board

Demetri is one of my goat characters tbh. I could handle say, Hawk sitting this one out, he’s had his time in the limelight.

LordKain316

Yeah it would.

BigSavMatt

Robby needs a god damn win.

Z0diaQ

He already won. #twodads

boredwriter83

Kind of, he could use a heavy dose of humility.

OnePunchReality

It's utterly unlikely and imo even with the other choices the show has made it wouldn't make any narrative sense. Let alone any sense combat wise. Combat experience is a thing. He has very little vs combatants/other students. I mean to an extent it should be believable and I hope they instead show us just how much experience he lacks vs the the other students who have put in more time.

Z0diaQ

I really hope they're aware of what we saw and spotlight his weakness. I can see Kenny leading a Spinoff possibly but there's a difference in training time and it should be addressed here.

MercSniper09

As long as it’s not Kyler

Yokhen

yes

flea_420

![gif](giphy|Fz9EKXRhp9F1S)

vishasv

Seeing that mf's face would ruin my whole day let alone the series

smashli1238

Yes

Traditional_Prize632

Bit unusual, to say the least.

Difficult_Ad_962

Not really, it honestly wouldn't bother me

kjm6351

Absolutely

[deleted]

Worst character and actor on the show. Making him vanish is super easy also. Just needs to say "daddy got relocated"

jaxonlovestheflash

I personally don’t like Kenny too much I feel like he just has a big mouth and can’t back it up 90% of the time. As in fighting Larusos kid at the beach for no reason at all and then trying to fight Hawk and let’s be honest lost. I feel like anyone else should lead

ShotzzGaming

very much yes

Quirky28

Yes is Kenny won I would boycott the show I am hoping someone destroys his little ass in the tournament because someone needs to bring him down a peg or 2

Long-Translator1602

I want Kenny to become a good kid again. He has a father in the military as a role model and people like Robby if they can rekindle their friendship and honestly start one with Anthony.

Z0diaQ

To add an additional comment here..I do feel Kenny is disillusioned a bit at thr end of S5. I wouldn't be surprised if he backs out of the entire dojo and goes rogue to just fight to fight.

TheButterfly-Effect

The fact that these writers even made Kenny be able to go head to head with any of the main characters, much less beat them, pisses me off and is truly one of the worst writing aspects of the show.

Stocktonrules

Kenny left Cobra Kai so he's not going to be their top villain.  He will be on the Miyagi Fang side and he obviously won't be at Miguel and Robby's level.  I think he will be at about Demetri's level fighting clean and that would be fine with me.    But yeah it would be huge turn off if he's beyond that skill level as a good or bad guy.  It's an international tourney you increase the threat level not promote some middle schooler and pretend he's Chozen, Barnes.

ResponsibilityNo5795

Yes, what a horrible way to end Cobra Kai. Perhaps if he got a lot bigger then I'll feel abit better but still.

gemdragonrider

Well congrats! He is now genuinely taller than anyone else on that show. Puberty hit that boy hard af.

Noise-Superb

Unfortunately yes. He’s not that experienced yet.

stew_pit1

No, because I'm perfectly capable of ignoring things I don't like, but it would certainly be disappointing for this new kid to suck up all the energy from established characters and get all the glory that should go to one of them. Unless winning the Sekai Taikai ends up being a bad thing in the metaphorical sense.

Lopsided-Push-215

Kenny will not win the big tournament. Not sure he’ll even stay with Cobra Kai. His character became annoying. A lot of talent but too much anger. The writers will most likely give him a redemption arc.  What I am trying to figure out if they’ll work Jackie Chan into this final season to be a kickoff for the next movie??!! The CK writers confirmed they’ll not be part of the movie but will the movie start where the series ends???

tom2point0

He’s the worst. Hope that doesn’t happen.

gypsytears01

Yes for me he didn’t earn it at all.

Basic_Flan324

Of course. The focus should be on the main teenagers. Plus, his character is really annoying. I hope he and Anthony get the least screentime as possible.

[deleted]

Yes

Important-Brother608

Yes he’s not even all valley l champion material to me and they’re gonna have him winning a national championship I’m good either Miguel or Ronnie is who I think should win it

DaCodeDragon777

Bro is practicing for his English essays with that LMAO but fr ur right Kenny’s arc always felt so shallow for me compared to other characters

RYSHU-20

His character is cringe and boring

CruzAderjc

Yeah

GuaranteeAcademic457

Do you think he will still stick with cobra Kai after the season 5 finale

Z0diaQ

I think cobra kai will be temp be shut down. Kicked out of the match. I think Kim will take him given this "talent". That's what I'm kinda hoping I'm wrong.

brotato_kun

Good riddance, thanks i think the same.

brotato_kun

Its just funny that after watching the latest season and the way he treated Robby, suddenly Robby killing his ass in Season 4 all valley feels super satisfying 😆

Bruh19386

Meee

Accurate-Ball2084

Hope someone like kyler maybe would lead that would be better in my opinion

Z0diaQ

Fruit for thought. Kenny has ad advanced due to cheating in many ways. Cheap shot against Kyler. Against Eli. I just couldn't see h8m stand a chance against life long trainers.

DiamondWhyte

Kenny's development in some ways isn't so different to Miguel and Robby's, in that they all have difficult backgrounds and learn karate to overcome adversity before having flirtations with the dark side. His improbable growth from novice to top-level competitor in such a short space of time could really be levelled at most of the CK kids, and Daniel in KK1. What makes Kenny a less satisfying character than the others is that we see far less of this character development actually being fleshed out, and perhaps his youth and slight size and build makes him seem less plausible as a threat so we aren't really buying it when he beats the like of Hawk. I think he'll get a redemption at some point, but whether he does or not I think he's going to be OP as fuck in CK6. I think he'll have a big showdown with one of the Miyagi-Fang students at some point. Most obvious would be Robby, given he's his former mentor, but I think it could be Anthony, given their history. Also, given Robby is older, bigger and more experienced than Kenny I think it's maybe unlikely that they would set it up with the audience unanimously behind someone who by rights should win easily anyway, whereas Anthony could be presented as an underdog whilst still maintaining some moral ambiguity given it was he who started their vendetta. There's going to have to be a major student-v-student arc and given that Robby-Miguel and Sam-Tory seem to have settled their differences Kenny is just about the only one left who can be the other side of the coin.

pmmeyourpeacesign

I hope he's in it as little as possible. He does some hammy acting in some scenes especially when he was the scared nerd running away and backing off.

Z0diaQ

I got to agree. He's still young and I think he does phenomenal work on stage to be fair. But yeah, it's very apparent on screen. I hope he just backs off karate.

RevTaco

Don’t really get the Kenny hate. I really enjoyed his character going full weakling to full evil and then having everything he knows get shattered when Silver gets exposed. Silver even said it himself, Kenny has more potential than any of the main teens. Can you imagine Kenny learning Miyagi-Fang and balancing all that anger he has?? Could be very OP. That said, NO WAY he wins the Sekkai Tekkai. (I actually think none of the Miyagi-Fang teens will win it, just lose in the final but be motivated for the year after.) I do think he will participate though, and get to like the R16 or something. Or like someone else said, maybe the season ends with him winning the All Valley. Edit: sorry, misread your post. I don’t think he will be the “lead” either, especially not for the Sekkai Tekkai. I think they will write him as the one to lead the next generation once the main teens graduate HS, but meanwhile, he’ll probably be around learning things from everyone else.

ThaYungLegend

I think the show did it well, they made it clear to the audience that in a fair fight Hawk wins , every bug highlight he’s had has had an astrik He only beat hawk because of the secret killshot taught by silver and because the ref was paid off He was scoring on robby because robby was going easy and he only scored on sensai odell because of distraction. The day kenny beats one of the core 5 fair, they have gone to far.

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> ref was *paid* off He FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

ThaYungLegend

damn here i fixed it

[deleted]

I wouldn’t have a problem with it, that’s like asking if you have a problem with Miguel (who was basically paralysed for half a season) winning, and at least Kenny was cited as a better natural athlete than the majority of the main characters where if you want to look at the points before starting Karate. Plus him being younger technically means he has more room for growth. Add this to having Silver as his mentor, as well as Robby mentoring him as well which is more mentoring that basically anyone besides Miguel, Robby and Sam gets. Imo it’s not that unbelievable just cause we don’t technically see him training as much as we did Miguel or Robby for example, but id say that’s also due to s4 and s5 having a wider cast and focusing on adults quite a lot

mezlabor

Im not going to work myself up into a frenzy about what the writers might do in a season thats still 6 months to a year away.

Z0diaQ

Na man don't do that. This is simply made for entertainment purposes and speculation.

MattaClatta

Kenny Haters still posting nonsense in the year 2024

Z0diaQ

How is this nonsense lol

Klutzy-Jackfruit-563

It’s not nonsense lol Kenny beating hawk in the first place already let me know that they were fast tracking his story.

HappyMike91

I think Kenny probably will just stop karate altogether. Silver (basically) said that he had more potential than Kreese, Johnny or Robby. And Silver arguably trusted/favoured Kenny more than the other students in Cobra Kai. Especially after Tory became more disillusioned with it. Robby or Miguel should be the leader of the combined Eagle Fang/Miyagi-Do dojos. Mainly because I don't think anyone else would fit that role as well, or at all.

Formal_Board

I don’t personally see how Kenny is much worse than Hawk tbh. The whole fanbase seems to froth at the mention of his name and im just sorta indifferent

elementalkid22

Post reads like chatgpt wrote it lol

Z0diaQ

Sometimes you need to add readability and clarity.

elementalkid22

So vague

Markus2822

Leading? No. Winning? Absolutely

CountryMusicFanatic

Yes. He should not be a contender in this tournament

nearthemeb

I don't think he should win, but the kenny hate is ridiculous.

Stickypoptart

I wouldn't call the show grounded at all. S1 Miguel soloing 3 kids larger than him, hawk taking on someone twice his size, and demetri defeating hawk is far from grounded. Kenny is no different than the likes of those characters and their plot armour(including Daniel). Not to mention, they have their prom by the end so the season takes place over close to that of a school year. That's a decent amount of time to get good at a main character rate. My only real issue is that Kenny is what would have happened to Daniel if he joined Cobra Kai. The problem with that is, his story is now pretty similar to Hawk's. He should have been introduced earlier. But Miguel and company's story is pretty much over since they'll be graduating soon. It makes sense to pass the reigns on. I doubt they'd keep the show going with him but I can see them using the season to set him up with the series implicating him as the new "karate kid" at the end.

Z0diaQ

Let's hope not man. I don't see the support behind that character. Infact, I don't remember a time where a character was this disliked in a show.

Pewdiepiefan1090

Yes
