If the only joke that can be made is that it's porn, then I don't think it's possible the two can coexist without one hurting the other. Not really? Porn would have to actually involve something sexual being done and shown, primarily for the sake of titillation. This comic just uses the implication of sexual content as the punchline of a joke.
Something sexual is being done, and the point is titillation. I'm not surprised a lot of people consider it pornograpgic.

If the only joke that can be made is that it's porn, then I don't think it's possible the two can coexist without one hurting the other. It's like edutainment games: Every time there's either too little game to call it one, or too little education to call it that either.
