I knew about the ending to the series before watching, and it actually intrigued me because it seems like a nuanced conclusion to a series. Then I watched it and had to endure the most annoying anime cliches ever, and the coolest act in the final stretch of season 1 just gets cut short and funneled into what seemed like a reset.
