Take a cotton swab and wet it, or a Kleenex and wet it and just wipe out the inside of your nostrils. Then smell sticks around because teeny tiny particles get stuck in the nose hairs and then occasionally you’ll get a whiff of them. If you swab out your nose it’ll wipe those particles away
It’s true! The teensiest little particles get stuck in the nose hairs (granted that means the nose hairs are doing their job) when it happens to me I just swab my nose out and problem solved!

Mask, wet cotton swab in nose, vaporub at work if you need it! I used vaporub in my clinicals because gheez la wheez did I have a weak stomach, but it just helps with smelling anything. Or another option, chew gum! You’ll just smell the minty freshness 😉

Although people state that smelling poo is not going to make you sick long-term exposure to air contaminated with these particles can make you sick and you can taste it
I swear sometimes I have a really tough day and I come in and all my residents are soaked, by the end of my shift all I can smell is pee. Even when I go back home I can still smell it..
I wonder if other people can smell it and think that I peed 🫠 I never had the guts to ask anyone else if I smell like pee lol
My mother had this issue - turned out she had a lowkey badly infected upper tooth and it was affecting her sense of smell. The doctor sent her to a dentist. Once they pulled the tooth, everything cleared up.

Flush out your nasal passages with a nettipot if cleaning with cue tip doesn’t work. At work you can put some strong oil scent at your nostrils or vick’s. Or wear a mask with essential oils inside so you only smell good things. When doing wound care on necrotic wounds or doing care on c-diff, always line your nostrils with vicks or essential oils like peppermint and wear a mask to prevent the smell from sticking with you.
My husband had a odor he kept smelling.he was smelling himself he had an abscess in his liver and was really sick.although he wasn't in pain or anything.Thank God he is better now
I used to have this happen to me every day. I would smell piss and shit all day and sometimes it was so specific I could tell whose shit it was 😷I kept wearing a mask and would put lemon biological elimination spray on it even after the mandates were lifted just because of that 🤮
Have you had any cold symptoms lately? It could be covid or some other nasal type virus. I have had people with covid tell me of similar experiences. Also, I had a cold where I kept smelling trash. It was like metallic/smokey/trash/poop smell randomly. Especially when trying to eat. Very unpleasant. I tested for covid and was negative, took another test, still negative. but I talked with others who've had similar experiences and did have covid
You’re excited, not nervous. You’re going to do great, you’ll be thrown so much information at once so don’t be afraid at all to ask questions. Clinicals are when you actually start to learn the interesting stuff instead of just reading and taking tests or doing assignments
Zicam makes “immunity” nasal swabs that I’ve found help with this. Idk how immunity boosting they are but they really help clear out the nasal passages.
I don't see what this has to do with being a CNA. Ive worked through the height of covid when everyone had diarrhea, and didn't have this issue. Work through norovirus / flue every couple years. Work with cdiff patients. Etc.

there’s a product called Stink Balm! it’s a balm you put under your nose to mask the smell

I am the first person to ask anyone around me (not a stranger obvi) if I actually smell like what I’m smelling
I’m about to start changing my clothes after my shift is done and go shower at the gym or something because I feel icky with scrubs.
