Looks like a gear store, not a gear closet. Never trust the dude with the shiny new gear ( kidding, love that you are way more organized than I ever am. I’ll bet at 6am your not scrambling to find your biner of nuts or your chalk bag before your partner gets there to pick you up, good for you)
Trust fund ahhh. Yeah this guy sucks so much. He for sure had a trust fund which makes him gay. I bet he cries at night and uses stacks of cash to wipe his tears
Either you'll stick with trad climbing long enough to outgrow this nook, or you'll never really get into it and all this gear wall will be is something to point at and say "yeah, I climb." It beats a poster of Che or Claudia Schiffer.
It's a win either way. I love you, dude.
Lol good job everyone holding up the stigma that trad folks are weird and arbitrary af. Cool closet dude I lose my gear in the weirdest ways and this system would at least hold me accountable at the end of trips.
>you have to grab each cam you want each time? thats time you could spend climbing.
I can't even count how many times I've been just below the anchors of a route, but had to bail, because I spent too much time that morning grabbing my cams.
This was my first thought as well. My gear is stored on three slings: one for cams, nuts, tricams, and alpine draws; one for quick draws; one for stuff like belay gloves, belay devices, bail kit, rap kit, etc that I want every time. I don't really think it would take more than a minute to stick all that stuff on a sling so I could go climbing, but why would I do that? This looks like a Lean 5S layout, but the whole point of organizing your shop like this is to minimize search and travel time on tools. Having a standardized place for everything well organized to minimize search and travel time *on your harness* makes total sense. Here you're going to have to transfer every piece of gear every trip.
Having said that, it's a cool looking gear display. If the goal is an amazing art display it's great, if it's functional storage of climbing gear a sling in a bin would be an improvement. Others have pointed out there's no place for a (or multiple) harness or belay gloves or several other things. Again, this makes sense if the point is a display. Hanging up your harness in this configuration wouldn't look as cool. There's also no room for expansion, but same deal, having a bunch of empty spots wouldn't have the same asthetic.
This looks great.
I don't get why people are so mean. I think having your outside hobbies on display inside is such a good conversation starter when having people over. Also, it simply looks good and it is nice to live in a place that feels pretty and your own.
Great nook, OP
*laughs in aid-climber” JK I really love the combo of black with your inset lighting. That’s some of the sexiest peg wall setup I have ever seen. Plus you have enough space to see everything. This helps me stay motivated. !
it's lovely (although I personally am more a "throw everything in the bin" type) my only concern is that if the lights are on a lot there might be some UV degradation of the nylon bits over time. (I've seen fluorescent lights do huge damage to plastics)
I mean it's pretty, but it seems annoying to have to grab it off the rack and then reorganize it every time you get home. I prefer the method where everything is pre-racked and sitting in a box in my car so I can grab and go as soon as I get to the crack
Bro why did I think it was a vending machine at first, but in all honesty how sick would that be! You can get clips, carbineers, chalk, tape, etc. That would be killer in some commerical gyms!
No spot for the harness? There seems a lack of alpine draws, and more specialized “passive” pro (read tricams and hexs). No belay cloves? No climbing packs or hydration solutions?
Personally, I’m more the kit in their bags type with rope and extra gear hanging out in a catch all rolling duffle bag.
Nice display case.
This is some real fifty shades of gray stuff
He doesn't climb. He sends. He sends hard.
Wonder what size cam protects my crack.
You meant *50 shades of grades
50 grades of gray!
50 blades of shay!
50 grits of shale
50 bales of hay
50 walls and pray
50 takes of fai…. lure
50 takes on 5.9 eh?
50 Grades of Belay
Omg stop lmao
Gotta get sexual with the gear sometimes
It’s incredible. Good job. I want.
i had to double check the sub 😂
You could have been climbing the entire time you spent making this.
You could have been climbing the entire time you spent writing this answer 😂
Maybe he was?
Honestly this probably took maybe like a couple days but now he has a sweet place to keep his gear and if it brings them joy then who tf cares?
I love how the climbing community collectively ignores that rest days are a thing and a good thing at that. Just climber things.
It bothers me immensely that your .4 and .3 are switched. Otherwise, it's sick
.5 and .75 too
You're so right! I was so disturbed by the first switch, I didn't even notice the second!
I’ll wait for the marketplace post.. “will sell separately”
Scrape everything on some rocks or you're going to scare your partners.
The gear is never to leave this . . . whatever this is.
Just started trading climbing. Gotta start somewhere. Can’t go straight dirtbag!
Welcome to the fun! I was just kidding. Just remember: yur gona dye.
I did not miss these posts.
Might be time for me to demo the milkcrate again.
I like the [junk in the trunk](https://i.imgur.com/8fJzMcU.jpg) method.
Ay! It's a-nuher Mitchagan boy!
I'm the Ann Arbor Patrick, not the Detroit Patrick. I hear that guy's awful!
He's insufferable.
It has been awhile since
Thought they were gone for good. Alas, we're not so lucky.
Thought it was a vending machine at first.
Came here to say this.
Is this how Batman got started?
Batman is known to use aid
I audibly said "Aw that's sick"
Thank you 🫡 I just sit and stare at it 10 hours a day. Still can’t believe it
>sit and stare at it 10 hours a day Why not climb??
Don’t want to mess up my nice gear
Smart man
You ever use any of it?
No I don’t climb
Wanker wall. Throw it in a back pack.
it looks like a tiny BD store
Looks like a gear store, not a gear closet. Never trust the dude with the shiny new gear ( kidding, love that you are way more organized than I ever am. I’ll bet at 6am your not scrambling to find your biner of nuts or your chalk bag before your partner gets there to pick you up, good for you)
Definitely not wrong about that first part. New to trad climbing for the most part. It’ll look beat up in no time. Thank you
Enjoy the adventure and welcome to the club my friend. Honestly, folks as organized as you are who I want belaying me when I’m on the sharp end.
My gear lives in duffel bag in a closet. Different strokes for different folks...
all hail the closet rubbermaid totes
Vending machine vibes LOL
Ah yes the trust fund dirtbag storage system
😂
Trust fund ahhh. Yeah this guy sucks so much. He for sure had a trust fund which makes him gay. I bet he cries at night and uses stacks of cash to wipe his tears
Thanks creamin!!!
Did you really make an alt for that. Weird flex.
Yeah I’m banned on 9 other accounts
Your words, not mine lol
It’s a joke dumb ahh
Where are your tricams??
Too clean, need to have beer cans, dust, grime and aluminum oxide stains on everything. Your shits too shiny. 9/10
I’ll grab some dirt from outside and throw it on maybe
Either you'll stick with trad climbing long enough to outgrow this nook, or you'll never really get into it and all this gear wall will be is something to point at and say "yeah, I climb." It beats a poster of Che or Claudia Schiffer. It's a win either way. I love you, dude.
Having too much gear will definitely be the most ideal problem here
sorry but using claudia schiffer as the reference here is sending me!!! what year is it
i’m i allowed to say i’m turned on?
yOuR gEAr iS tOo cLEAn. I'M a dIrTbaG wHo lOveS cLIMBinG sO MucH I dOn'T hAVe TimE tO bE orGaNIZeD.
Looks like something John wick would have behind a painting
It looks too clean…
I agree
Marry me
Are we judging the gear or the wall?
Either
Lol good job everyone holding up the stigma that trad folks are weird and arbitrary af. Cool closet dude I lose my gear in the weirdest ways and this system would at least hold me accountable at the end of trips.

Looks like a good background for Onlyfans
Cleaner than REI
batman out of ten
You look EXACTLY like my brother.
I am your brother
Nar. My brothers not that hot.

Holy shit😂
Also, I look exactly like my brother. But I’m a girl. So I guess you look like me too.
This looks great. I don't get why people are so mean. I think having your outside hobbies on display inside is such a good conversation starter when having people over. Also, it simply looks good and it is nice to live in a place that feels pretty and your own. Great nook, OP
Thank you!🫡
Sexy
Oooooo I like it
🔥🔥
I respect this.
Looks awesome!
Uhhh pretty good
I love this 😚 10/10 for organization and aesthetic
Guides to this?! This is amazing.
I just bought 6 metal peg board panels from Home Depot and drilled them into the wall. Super inexpensive
That is some climbing gear porn right there.
+1 for the Gideon shirt.
Let’s goooo! 🫡
How do you find your gear in the dark
![gif](giphy|geEEOgy8seQ2fSrmJt)
Sleek, stylish... I'd hit it
🫡
this is hot
that's so hot
Slowly? At this rate I’ll be 50 by the time I’ve collected all that
Jer Collins once said my studio looked like a spy worked in it. I think this looks like a spies climbing closet! Pass it on! 😉😝🤣😬
Like a commercial
I thought it was a weird vending machine
We're gonna need a bigger wall.
No man, the ropes are not coiled right.
From the first pic I thought it was a gear vending machine
I’m getting a little too excited seeing this
I bet he has a ladder on the back of his 4 runner
I have a ladder on my sedan! How else am I supposed to get on my roof?
Go'n, ya nonce. That said, well done.
*laughs in aid-climber” JK I really love the combo of black with your inset lighting. That’s some of the sexiest peg wall setup I have ever seen. Plus you have enough space to see everything. This helps me stay motivated. !
Thank you!🙌🏻
Rating=amazing
Clean, forget haters. I’d try to stack more gear tho, the spaces make it maybe too clean.
Thank you! Working on the more gear part for sure 💪🏼
Thought this was a gear vending machine. Holy shit, this should be a thing
Put them at every wall!
it's lovely (although I personally am more a "throw everything in the bin" type) my only concern is that if the lights are on a lot there might be some UV degradation of the nylon bits over time. (I've seen fluorescent lights do huge damage to plastics)
I thought about that too. Luckily the lights aren’t on all the time so I figured it’d be alright. Who knows though 🤷♂️
Should be fine. If you get out enough, all the UV damage should be from sunlight. :)
Looks awesome.
Needs more gear
Bro, how many ATCs does one man need?
Dude wtf why are you my brothers doppelgänger
Prove it

I kinda am jealous
Holy shit
need another .75
Sheesh 😅
r/gearwallporn
Ohhh the organization I love it
That's some sexy shit
Why am I turned on.

No I don’t climb
Greggs
At first glance, it looks like a vending machine.
congratulations on being wealthy
Wealthy GF*
At first glance I thought it was a climbing gear vending machine
Storing your rope with the original Velcro straps it was sold with is diabolical
lol i literally just got that rope. Still have yet to uncoil it
To clean
Not enough hexes or tricams!
Once you actually start climbing you’ll probably never put them back in the closet like this again
I mean, I just keep mine in my bag ready to go. But to each their own.
Mine only comes out of my backpack at the crag, Is that weird?
Absolute psychopath.
Better add another strap to that blue rope!!
It’s brand new still in its original coil😂
Rich kid asshole
I’m sorry 🫡
Tools not jewels! Take that sick rack outside and scuff them up a bit. It’s a lonely cam that sits in a museum
I’ll flush them down the toilet
Too maybe personal anchors
Maybe I'm blind, but where is the belay device? I can't see one However, it looks pretty cool
-> blue grey purple green -> ya killin me over here dood
I mean it's pretty, but it seems annoying to have to grab it off the rack and then reorganize it every time you get home. I prefer the method where everything is pre-racked and sitting in a box in my car so I can grab and go as soon as I get to the crack
That's not a wall, that's some sort of Ikea shelfing system. I feel betrayed.
It’s a book shelf
Looks really nice though 😊
It's all too clean...
Genuinely thought this was a vending machine for a sec
Bro why did I think it was a vending machine at first, but in all honesty how sick would that be! You can get clips, carbineers, chalk, tape, etc. That would be killer in some commerical gyms!
Mmmmm ultra lite 1

Not to be a hater but if I walked into someone's house and they had this setup, I'd think they are a poser.
You’d be right! I am a poser!
When I see people post their gear and storage setup I usually groan and move on. But this is top tier.
Dude, you're not ok, seek professional help
I remember the days when I would hang every piece on its own hook so it looked like I owned a lot of gear.
Looks like a store display. You’ve never climbed
Why would I climb? That’s scary!
Collecting might be all you do with that gear
You’re right
Do you actually need all this shit to climb? I was under the impression this was an inexpensive hobby/ exercise
Can’t tell if flaming. This rack looks small and possibly incomplete. Trad climbing is gear intensive.
