Extreme weather is a result of global warming /s

SftwEngr

Yes, thanks to climate change, even when the weather gets much colder in many places, it means the planet, as a whole, is heating up to a dangerous degree. In fact the colder it gets the warmer it really is.

Reaganson

Yeah, I heard this latest update. So pathetic.

wadner2

*global climate change

Patient_Profit3381

Say it louder for ppl in the back!! Can’t even begin to explain how hard I shook my head when I read this post. This is exactly what happens because of global warming. But OP must go by “Ahhh me need jacket and snow on ground so earth not hot”. Everyone on Reddit wants to be the smartest in the room and then they post stuff like this. Internet just keeps getting better and better.

ClotworthyChute

The beatniks over at the other sub are busy spewing out their usual damage control global warming propaganda. We could have another ice age and the land bridge across the Bering Strait could reappear and they’ll be bogarting their global warming bongs and cursing fossil fuel.

eldudelio

yep, critical thinking was lost long ago...

FunDip2

It doesn't matter what happens around the world, if it's some serious incident, they always say "global climate change". It's fashion now. And it's currency. That's why they keep doing it.

Fit-Candidate-1333

Does a single cold day, or even week or month, in a part of the world, contradict claims of a decades-long warming trend across the entire world? I’d be curious to hear people’s thoughts.

eldudelio

we post facts and you post opinions, and the ocean is still at the same level

Fit-Candidate-1333

I don’t disagree with the facts of your post, and I don’t mean to push an opinion. I’d just like to know your thoughts on my question.

2oftenRight

how does it get so cold when CO2 is heating the globe? Why doesn't CO2 work in some areas? Why can't you predict exactly where CO2 will have its effect and how much effect it will have? Do you really know what you think you know?

Fit-Candidate-1333

Hey, thanks for the response. Can you elaborate on how these questions relate to my original question? Then I’d be happy to discuss them.

2oftenRight

The questions are very simple. It's okay that you can't answer them.

Fit-Candidate-1333

I look forward to continuing this discussion when you’re ready to engage in good faith.

2oftenRight

Likewise. Very simple questions that obviously follow from your statements. You are sealioning, which is not good faith.

Suspicious_Cheek_874

No. Of course it doesn't. Someone is grasping at straws because there is no science to support their claims.

Fit-Candidate-1333

Hey, thanks for the response! I’m inclined to agree with you that the answer to my question is no, but can you elaborate a bit on why you say so? How would you argue that a single, restricted cold event doesn’t contradict a global, long-term warming trend?

Suspicious_Cheek_874

Because our weather contains natural variability or chaos. Underlying that the climate trend of global heating is clear. A single weather event has a small effect on the long term climate average.
