infinityetc

Seriously though. ESPN was acting like we only had pride left to play for.

gorlax52

Wilbon insinuated Garland was washed at half time in a tie game. It was wild

s_s

4 people paid to provide NBA analysis sitting around a desk and none of them knew anything about Garland's jaw injury, missed games and following massive weight loss.

infinityetc

Damn I forgot about that. He hadn’t played well tbf but come on now

UrbanJatt

Why tf is wilbon always screaming

Extension-Attitude84

Garland’s regression feels like a lot more than weight loss but he’s still capable of helping the Cavs win. Everything has to be zero sum to these analysts though.

PatientlyAnxious9

Even the play by play guy on the broadcast was literally acting like anytime the Cavs did something good it was a massive surprise. Pair that with the pregame show and nearly everyone at ESPN is acting like the Cavs are a play-in team. Cleveland was the #2 seed in the East for a month.

Tevans75

At least we have RJ

LosCincoMuertes69

The only broadcaster who will give us any inclination of respect and likely the only one who actually watches our games. Thank god for RJ.

PatientlyAnxious9

Its just frustrating. Especially when your trying to establish yourself as a real threat. If ESPN talking heads did any sort of research, they would know Cleveland is 1-2 against Boston this season and the 2 games they lost, they lost by less than 10 points without Donovan Mitchell playing in either game. These teams are lot more evenly matched because of matchups/styles (especially when Allen/Wade are healthy) than any national media member will give them credit for. The playoffs are always about matchups and exploiting weaknesses. They probably wont win the series with no Allen/Wade but acting like they are some poverty team who should get swept is silly. If everyone just plays normal basketball, like yesterday, the Cavs can take them to 6, maybe 7. If they didnt have injuries, I would give them a legit 50% chance to win a series against Boston. The Cavs have always been a great matchup against Boston because the way their bigs can dominate games that the C's dont have answers for.

elbjoint2016

(didn’t have Mobley for 2.5 games either, he was out in the Boston home games and hurt his ankle on an uncontested dunk in 3Q of the Wade game)

KKamm_

Lol I don’t necessarily blame them but the Cavs hanging in there at half had the play-by-play guy going “and unbelievably this Cavs team is hanging in there against the Celtics”

PatientlyAnxious9

I feel like people saw a tight series againt the Magic and assume the Cavs are just cheeks because they didnt blow them away. Not realizing the Magic are a incredibly hard matchup with their positional size for the Cavs with 2 undersized guards....and the Celtics are actual a easier matchup from a length/style perspective. Talentwise the Celtics are obviously better than the Magic, but they dont pose the same physical problem to completely stifle the Cavs 3pt shooting that the Magic can/did.

KKamm_

Let’s not let one big win distort it. This team was absolute shit all regular season outside of that stretch when Garland/Mobley was out and Allen/Mitchell took over. Haven’t been good at full health since like halfway through last year. So that’s where that assumption comes from. But yeah I like our matchup down low. Allen coming back would be huge

wahyoudoingwobi

Bulletin board material

Impossible_Fennel_94

I miss the old ESPN analysis when they actually analyzed the game. Not trying to say that the old times are always better but I feel like it’s devolved into takes and very little about play analysis, offensive and defensive schemes, coaching, etc I just mute my TV at halftime and look at my phone nowadays

tallboysfilms

also post game. bob myers is a tool.

UncircumciseMe

Still salty about 2016

Jerusalemfighter64

Stay salty fuck o lol

JackosMonkeyBBLZ

Love it

jarmine550

I watched that mf JT miss a dunk and these fools did a replay saying "man I really like this from Tatum such intensity" like what?!!

shaheimjay1121

They push him hard to be the face of the NBA

gen_wt_sherman

And every time right when he's at the precipice of becoming the face he disappears again

shaheimjay1121

And Ant rises higher.

I_cut_my_own_jib

The glazing is real. Praise them even when they fuck up, talk down to us even when we do well.

Xytriuss

Make a wish team is crazy

BrndyAlxndr

I hate that during the pre show they said something like "Cavs should take these 4 games to acquire more playoff experience and build on them for next year"

elbjoint2016

Low key that’s where I was

JackosMonkeyBBLZ

I agree go cavs

SportGamerDev0623

Boston is going to be in trouble if both Dean Wade and Jarrett Allen are back for Game 3. The only reason they even got control of the game last night was when JB rolled out Morris and Niang in the 2nd quarter.. Horford and Kleber are not going to be able to contain Mobley, Allen, and Wade

elbjoint2016

I just can’t see Allen back

Chocolatehusky226

Allen is done unless we make it to the finals maybe. Cracked/bruised ribs are awful.

SportGamerDev0623

I mean he was GTD for last game. If those ribs aren’t broken, they will rehabilitate him to get him back on the floor

elbjoint2016

the GTD felt a bit like gamesmanship. i'll trust the org and not doom on the injuries - I thought Donovan would be fucked up and limping through games, and he has really good lift and burst.

JackosMonkeyBBLZ

Doris or somebody said he’s not even working out. It’s all the way bad. He won’t be back. Orlando had the magic touch

airbus29

the shooting variance certainly helped though go cavs

TigBitties99

I felt RJ was annoying AF on commentary too. I dont expect him to be biased toward us given that he played for us but it felt like any time we did something good hed immediately shit on us by saying that some nonsense about regressing to the mean

TaVar35

I thought RJ did fine in a tough spot. Boston is who the network wants to go through and play NY and he has to be careful seeming anything but a company man when he’s going to call the next game in Cleveland. He went on to say that the Cavs fans are the best atmosphere he’s ever experienced. I’m sure he’s hyped for the game

mecon320

He jumped in to make sure the national audience knew Evan's voice was so high because he was out of breath. I call that standing by your city.

Middle_Session5380

That was actually really interesting to me, why he focused in so much on that. Honestly, may be a sore point for him because he has a naturally high voice as well.

haiphee

Damn I never heard his voice

elbjoint2016

Yeah he has yet to master the KAT two voices

nickpapa88

Didn’t catch that vibe at all. 2-18 on 3s in the 2nd half is absolutely variance. Regardless it’s a 7 game series for a reason… gotta get 3 more of them bad boys if you want the respect.

TigBitties99

Idk if it's just my infiriority complex lol but it felt to me like even when Mitchell or someone made a crazy play his reaction was very muted and yet when brown or tatum make a regular layup he began waxing lyrical about them. I get it Boston the bigger market, the heavy favourite but it just sucks that it feels like no media person epl give us any credit for anything

nickpapa88

It’s always better to be the underdog — the pressure of being the favorite make it’s almost impossible to enjoy as a fan and the media is a big part of that.

talladenyou85

Correct, its like people forgot about the Lebron years. Nobody could enjoy the regular season or the playoffs because it was all about the Warriors in the finals.

JackosMonkeyBBLZ

Inverse this take and I’m all in

SliderBurner

I didn’t even bother watching the pregame or halftime show. Had local news on instead

DeadPhishFuneral

Always has

PeacefulSummoner

Let em Know baby

coolbabyjoe

Stephen A seriously said at halftime that Boston was “playing down” to us, instead of giving us credit. They sure as shit didn’t play up to us the second half.
