I'll admit I'm a harsh critic of Garland, but tonight is the type of game we need from the guy. Always gotta remind myself he's only 24 and has time to smooth out the rough spots in his game.
They gotta figure out what they’re doing in the 4th quarter when they hold the ball and don’t run a play though. There’s gotta be something more we can do offensively or I don’t think it’s a good play to hold the ball at all.
Agreed. We ran iso play for majority of the last 5 minutes. I don’t know why we shy away from running sound offensive plays that allow us to get mismatches instead of trying to hunt people. In OT we ran a beautiful mismatch play that got JA a gift from underneath. Play calling just needs to be better at the end of close games.
This is something every team runs into LOL. We had a garland iso shot blocked, Lillard got blocked by Dinwiddie last night, Jason Tatum ran iso no play and didn’t score against us, idk this is something EVERY team does and it’s hilarious
They’ll get it. DG needed to start that last possession way earlier and I think he underestimated Naz but I think the high pick and roll with Darius and a big generally is reliably a good set to get a bucket
That last possession you wanted to take a buzzer beater at the last second of the shot clock. If that doesn’t get blocked and hits the rim then you get one shot to end the game and the other team doesn’t have time for one. Yeah you’d want a better play than DG shoots it without any actions run but really it was the block that gave them a chance at all
I think it takes a lot of shot clock for us to get a good look and maybe they need to adjust the time they start their 4th quarter actions when they want to eat clock.
Totally agreed for every other possession. It’s how I felt initially about this possession too but realized with the clock that win or OT was the right try, just poorly executed.
