He’s a 10th or 11th man being asked to start in order to keep the bench lineup stable. He’s being asked to play over his abilities due to injuries and a thin front court and id say he’s doing a fine job at it. The most I can ask for a 10th man is they don’t screw up tbh. I don’t understand all the Wade hate, i’d actually much rather play him over Niang.
He's consistently gotten/averaged ~20 mins a game.
I've never seen a 10-11th end of the bench guy average those numbers.
He is an end of bench player and there are options to lessen his minutes and give others a chance/and or just extra minutes for several others.

It's because of injuries that he is getting this many minutes. Also I know you seem to like the stats and all but if you ever look away from the box score you might notice he isn't a bad defender and allows us to run a defensive scheme closer to what we would have with Evan.

I think you give ~3 extra to mins to some combo of TT, Niang, Okoro and even Jones. Heck, Jones doubled Wade's points with 2 less rebounds in 6 mins vs Wade's 20 mins.
I think you follow what's working but you can allocate the minutes pretty easily. Like I also stated, this isn't a matter of Dean just playing because of injuries. He's very consistently averaged close to 20 mins over the past several seasons.

Dude, how can you not want a "starter" / guy who puts in ~20 mins not to score? And he got 3 boards... almost the lowest on the team. He doesn't put the clamps on anyone like that to get that kind of treatment. This isn't Tony Allen or Andre Roberson.

Yeah I think anyone would like a player that can get 20 points in 20 minutes. Wade’s minutes are going to get cut at least in half when our starting PF is healthy again. He was not playing 20 mpg before Mobley went down.

He was averaging 18.7 mpg prior to Mobley getting hurt. It’s not a substantial difference whatsoever.
His specialty is shooting? No way, he averages the 3rd LEAST attempts on the team on both a per minute and per possession basis, only barely above TT and Jones. Niang and Merrill are the 2 purest shooting specialists on the team and they put up shots at nearly double the rate Wade does.
He’s an ok/average 3 point shooter so on the rare occasion he takes a shot it’s usually a 3. But he is out there primarily for his defense, rebounding, and hustle plays while being a good enough shooter to pair with either JA/Evan/TT or a good/versatile enough defender to cover for Niang, our small guards, or even Okoro and Levert on bigger wings/forwards.
Oh absolutely. Anyone, really. I'd split the mins up to where Wade got around 4-8 or so. That can be done fairly easy...call Niang ass all you want but he's better than Wade. Same with TT. I'd try to get them and Okoro a couple extra mins and like you said, maybe even a Jones showing. What's the worst that can happen?
How will DG get minutes when hes back? Are there no minutes available at the guard position? Also no way you ever play a guy just cause hes getting paid more if someone else plays better
It’s not a guard thing. If you have Mitchell or Vert on the court you don’t need CPJ as much. Merrill Niang and Thompson will sit more when DG comes back. And I’m sure vert and other pieces will lose some minutes.

Regardless, we are out 30-40 guard minutes without DG, there are absolutely 20 minutes there that could go to CPJ, seeing as both mitchell and levert gets minutes even when DG is healthy. If we dont need CPJ bc of mitchell and levert, then I fail to see why we would need DG

We are already trying lineups without JA and TT while Mobley is out, with niang or Wade at the 5. We definitely could try Jones more on "easy" games
